I feel like I’ve talked about my smoothie blender I got for Christmas a lot on here but I just wanted it very badly and I’ve gotten so much use out of it already. So far I’ve only tried different recipes involving fruits because to be honest I haven’t been brave enough to try one of those really healthy green ones that includes veggies as well. Not that I don’t like veggies. I do. At least some I do but the idea of mixing spinach, lettuce and celery with banana and apples honestly isn’t the most appealing to me but I’ve never tried it, so I can’t judge obviously. My mom and I made a deal that next time I’m home we’re going to test out one of those detox smoothies. We’ll see how that goes and I promise to report back on that.
So for today’s post I want to share a little smoothie recipe with you guys that I came across by just randomly putting together stuff we still had in our kitchen. It’s super easy to do and very tasty! I love how fruity it is and I think this would be a great refreshment once summer rolls around. All you need is for ingredients.
As for the amount it really depends on how much you want to make. I usually go for 2 glasses, so I’ll take a handful or raspberries and a handful of blueberries out of the freezer and put them in my blender. I usually wait until they’ve defrost a bit because otherwise the consistency of the smoothie will be way too think otherwise and it’ll much more resemble ice cream rather than a drink. Once the berries have defrosted a bit I’ll add the juice of one pomegranate and the oranges. Blend blend blend…… and you’re done. Like I said it’s very easy and it’s so fruity and refreshing.
I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed my short little Sunday post!
Now I’ve been loving smoothies for the longest time and have been wishing for a smoothie blender for months now. I feel like a blender is not the kind of thing I would usually buy for myself, so I was beyond happy when I found out that Santa had stopped by and put one under the tree for me!
Ever since Christmas I’ve been experimenting around and blending everything editable that you could possibly put in a smoothie together. There’s one smoothie I’ve been loving as a quick and easy breakfast though. It’s a super simple recipe but I still want to share it with you guys anyway.
Basically what I do is take a handful of frozen blueberries (they don’t have to be frozen but this way your smoothie is instantly cold) chop up a banana, add some natural low fat yoghurt and sprinkle some cereal on top. Then I blend everything together and there’s my breakfast.
I absolutely love blueberries and bananas and I think both fruits go well together. I add a bit of yoghurt because for one I just love yoghurt and it makes my smoothie a bit more creamier. As I’ve mentioned before I’m the pickiest eater ever but I love cereal, so since I’d run out of granola I decided to add a bit of my Kellogg’s Special K to my smoothie. Obviously this is an optional step you don’t have to do, but I love it.
If you think the consistency of the smoothie is to thick you can always add a bit of milk. But basically this has been one of my go to breakfasts lately! It’s soooo good.
If you have any amazing smoothie recipes make sure to link me up with it as I’m trying out something different all the time!
Thanks for reading!
One thing I love about being home is that my mom always makes sure we have a bowl full of yummy and healthy fruits in the kitchen. I’m a big lover of fruits but whenever I’m at University I don’t buy too much of it because fresh fruits are freaking expensive and I don’t want to spend crazy amounts of money on fruits that eventually go bad because I won’t have time to eat it all.
So today I woke up and I was thinking ‘ I haven’t had a smoothie for breakfast in ages’, so I decided to go make one. Though I love most breakfast foods I’m not really a big breakfast person because usually I’m on a rush in the morning and when I have to get up really early I’m not even hungry, so smoothies are a good solution for me at times.
This one is one of my favourites because it contains some of my favorite fruits and a little bit of cereal.
This is what you need:
200ml/ 6.7 oz of milk
a hand full of mixed frozen berries ( I used raspberries and blackberries)
a handful of your favorite cereal
3 tablespoons of plain yoghurt
I know these measurements aren’t all that great but I don’t have a real recipe. I just sort of throw in a bit of everything and blend it all up.
Add it all together and then blend until done. You don’t have to use frozen berries but if you do it’s really cold and refreshing.
It’s so easy and so yummy!
