Rodial Bee Venom Overnight Hydrating Gel*

I never really spend much thought on skincare until I started attending University about nearly 2 and a half years ago. I didn’t know much about cleansing and had never even heard of exfoliating. I’d use a moisturizer every once in a while if I could remember and very often would go to bed without removing my makeup because I just couldn’t be bothered.Oh how things have changed since then. I still wouldn’t call myself an expert or skincare fanatic but I’ve put together a morning and night time routine to keep my skin looking healthy and I do get very excited about trying new skincare products.

When I received the Bee Venom Night overnight gel* by Rodial I could not wait to try it. I’ve only ever heard amazing things about Rodial’s skincare, so I was very excited to be able to try one of their products.

First off some information about my skin type. I have pretty normal but sensitive skin that tends to get dry quite easily, especially in the colder months. Hence I’m always on the lookout for products, that keep my skin hydrated and moisturized.

Now on to the packaging. Obviously it’s yellow (I’m guessing that is name related) combined with silver. What I really like about the packaging is that the little round container comes with an integrated pump, so it is easier to get the right amount of product without wasting any, especially since it is a rather expensive product.

Since my skin is relatively sensitive I’m always really hesitant when straying away from my usual products because many moisturizers I’ve tried would feel quite stingy on my skin when I first applied them. However, this one felt incredibly nice and gentle on my skin and I really enjoyed massaging it into my skin.

So Rodial promises that this product “plumps and firms wrinkle appearance, minimises the appearance of pores, evens out skin and improves skin elasticity” The been venom is supposed to plump up your skin and therefore achieve a younger looking complexion.

Now I’m only 20 and thankfully do not have any wrinkles yet but I have still noticed quite the difference in my skin. In the morning my skin now looks a lot more glowing and awake. It feels softer and definitely more hydrated. I’ve also noticed that now my foundation looks a lot better when applied because my skin is not as nearly dry anymore.

To conclude I’m really happy with the hydrating gel because it really does keep my skin hydrated and saves it from getting dry. I’ve noticed that my skin looks a lot more healthy and glowy in the morning and the product itself feels so luxurious and nice on my skin.

Have you tried any Rodial Skincare? What would you recommend?

Thanks for reading!

Diorskin Star Foundation – New Holy Grail?!

SAM_5457

Hey lovelies,

today I’m giving you a review on the lovely Diorskin Star foundation. I’ve been trying this amazing stuff for the past 2 weeks already and I’m so excited to share my thoughts on it with you guys.

One thing, that is probably the most important thing for me, when it comes to doing my makeup is  having that look of a flawless skin. I don’t always need dramatic eye makeup or a bold lip but one thing I always strive for is a flawless base. It just gives me such a confidence boost. Now my skin isn’t incredibly awful looking, however, I just feel so much better covering up some little flaws because let’s face it: we all have them.

When I try a foundation, I expect it to even out my skin tone and cover up some flaws. I want it to feel light on my skin and most importantly I want it to match my skin tone and I often have trouble with this part because I’m so pale and most Ivory shades aren’t really Ivory. But this little beauty does all of those things and is a perfect match. I’m in the shade 010-Ivory and it’s actually just perfect. When I apply this on my face it looks just like my skin only about 10 times better. You seriously wouldn’t be able to tell, that I was wearing any foundation because it melts into my skin and blends so perfectly.

Another plus is the formula. It’s incredibly light and feels really hydrating. Especially if you’re more on the dry side, like me, you should give this ago. It’s not drying at all, doesn’t get cakey and just looks incredibly natural. Additionally this foundation uses a formula that doesn’t clog up your pores “A new generation of hollow silica beads captures and diffuses light in a correcting halo with no shine. At the same time, colour-filter pigments neutralize colour imbalances to recreate the perfect light.” Through this new formula your skin can actually improve, because it covers anything you want to cover without blocking it or clogging anything up.

Now to another important part: the finish. It’s actually a bit tricky to describe the finish this foundation leaves. It’s definitely not matte but it’s not dewey either. It’s somewhere in between and it gives you that glow form within kind of looks. It just gives your skin a healthy, natural and illuminating look. There’s not other way to describe it really.

I know this almost sounds like a love letter but I’m honestly beyond impressed with this foundation. I’m so picky when it comes to my foundations. Most of them are either not my exact skin tone, so it takes a lot of effort to blend it all well or they are too drying or feel too heavy or don’t last long enough. I usually always find something I dislike butI haven’t found anything, that I don’t like about this foundation yet.  My skin has never looked this good and healthy, and stayed that way all day, and I’ve tried so many foundations already.

I wouldn’t say it’s my new holy grail just yet because I’m on my first bottle and it’s still very new but I think there’s a good chance it might become one though.

Have you tried this foundation? What were your thoughts?

A Skin Care Staple

SAM_5476
SAM_5480

It wasn’t until about a year ago that I really got into skin care. Yes, you heard that right. I’ve always made sure to take my make up off before I went to bed at night and I sometimes would use a cleanser and a moisturiser but it wasn’t until a year, that I started investing in more products and  building up my own skin care routine. Nowadays I can’t imagine my life without my skin care routine. At least not the night one. I do sometimes lack the energy to do the full routine when I have to get up early in the morning. I’m sure I’m not the only one though. We’re all humans and I belong to the kind, who really appreciate sleep. Just not really a morning person.

In today’s post I’m not going to talk about my entire routine but about one product I’ve been repurchasing every time after having run out of it, so I think it’s safe to say it’s become one of my skin care staples within the last few months.

I’m talking about the The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil. If you’ve ever done any kind of google search on skin care you might have come across tea tree oil and how it’s supposed to be amazing for acne prone skin. I don’t really have, never really had, acne prone skin but for whatever reason I started getting more breakouts when I started university a year ago. Weirdly enough I’ve always had perfectly clear skin until I moved to the Netherlands to start university. I didn’t know whether it was caused by stress or hormones but I did know I wanted to do something against it. Hence I did some google research and came across this little gem. It’s not a magical product, that just makes your skin picture perfect but it has helped my skin to improve immensely in the course of a few months.

Now what I do is, I apply a bit of this oil on all the parts of my face, where I think I need it. Basically I cover any blemishes with this. It took some time but my skin has been improving a lot since then and I just love the refreshing feeling it leaves on my skin. It just feels so clean. Although I’m not really a fan of the smell of this product, as it is quite strong, I love this little oil and I’m so glad I discovered it. If you’re struggling with some blemishes or spots I think this is a great product to get rid of those. It leaves a really refreshing feeling on your skin and most importantly it doesn’t dry it out.

It’s definitely a product I will continue to use because it’s amazing and really affordable!

What are some of your skin care staples? Have you ever tried this?

My 4 Products for Perfect Summer Skin

So Summer has basically arrived! I still have a bit more to go and then I’ll finally be free and have summer! Gosh, I can’t wait for the sun and being able to reunite with my High School friends, go for walks with my dog and just relax. No more worrying about missing deadlines or failing exams. What a dream.

SAMSUNG CSC

During summer I really like to change up the products I use for my skin. I hate wearing thick make up in summer because I can just feel my skin hating it. So I use a few different products to achieve that perfect flawless summer skin.

Step 1: Coverstick

SAMSUNG CSC

I only use this if I have rather bad blemishes or imperfections to cover them up. I like using coversticks because they are perfect for when you just want to cover up a small part.

Step 2: Concealer

SAMSUNG CSC

Luckily I don’t really get heavy dark circles under my eyes but if it’s only been a short night, concealer can come in quite handy to cover up some tired eyes. So if needed I apply some concealer right under my eyes.

Step 3: BB Cream

SAMSUNG CSC

I’m an absolute BB cream fan! I love love love them! During summer months I tend to just ditch my foundation and wear BB cream instead. I just prefer the lighter coverage because it jut feels like you have nothing on your face and your skin looks still good. Perfect!

Step 4: Translucent Mineral Powder

SAMSUNG CSC

For the summer months I prefer translucent powder over compressed powder because it is so much lighter. When I wear powder for a longer time my skin sometimes feels a bit itchy and I can feel my pores clogging up. Translucent mineral powder still sets my foundation and gives my skin a matte finish but it is so light I don’t even feel it.

This is how I change up my basic skin make up for summer. Do you make any changes?
