April Favorites

So I know it’s been a little while since my last post and it’s already May 3rd but I just love reading Monthly Favorites posts, so I wanted to share my favorite things of the month of April with you guys! As per usual it’s all make up but I do have one skin care favorite. But I don’t want to bore you with my ramblings, so let’s get right into it.

IMG_6278

The Body Shop Seaweed Iconic Clay Mask

I’m a bit of a face mask obsessed person, to be honest. I used to have such nice and clear skin all throughout high school when all of my friends were breaking out and then once I moved on to University my skin went a little crazy. I’m guessing it was due to hormones and stress but ever since then I became obsessed with skin care and having a proper skin care routine. Now my skin still isn’t as good as it used to be but it has improved immensely since then. Face masks are probably my favorite skin care item and I try to do one at least once a week. I got this one at the beginning of April and have loved it so far. I really like the scent and I feel like it just calms my skin down after a stressful week.

Mac Pro Longwear Concealer

This might be my all time favorite concealer! The coverage is amazing and it matches my skin tone so nicely. It lasts all day and covers up anything you want to cover up wether that’s just some dark circles, redness or any imperfections in your skin. This bad boy makes them all go away – at least for a day.

Kiko Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in 06 and 07

I’ve already written a review on one of these two beauties. I really like that they come in a stick form for days when I’m in a rush! Basically I just put these on real quick and they last so long! Since I loved  the shade 06 so much, which is a beautiful bronzy shade, I went and bought the shade 06 which is more of a lighter beige shade. Both are the perfect amount of shimmery and so stunning.

IMG_6279

Soleil Tan De Chanel

This was my first ever cream bronzer and it might be my favorite bronzer I own and that’s not just due to the fact that it’s Chanel. When I first heard that this bronzer is supposed to be a universal shade and suit everyone I was really skeptical. I’m quite fair skinned, so I was quite nervous that it would be too orange and make me look muddy. Thankfully it doesn’t! It’s the most natural looking bronzer I’ve ever tried, hands down! Basically I’m in love with this and since the sun has been coming out a bit I’ve used this beauty to warm up my complexion.

Milani Baked Blush – Luminoso

This is probably one of my favorite blushes for a neutral glowy complexion look. It’s a very light and shimmery peach that will probably suit everyone. It’s just a stunning neutral shade.

IMG_6285

Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero Smudge Lengthening Mascara

As you can see this is just a rather small sample size, which was included in an Estee Lauder Palette I recently purchased. However, I’ve been using this nearly every day as it’s so good. It adds so much length to my lashes and I find it perfect for a more natural look. Once I run out of this I’ll probably have to buy the full size.

Mac Velvet Teddy

I only just got this lipstick at the very beginning of April and look how much I’ve already used it but I’m obsessed! It makes my lips so much fuller and I find it to be the perfect nude for my complexion as it doesn’t wash me out. Basically I can totally understand the hype around this shade, so if you’ve thought about getting this one go for it! It’s absolutely worth it!

And this already concludes my April favorites!

What have you been loving this month?

Much love,

Sophie

A Dry Skin Saver

SAM_5614

It’s not even winter but the colder weather has been drying my skin out already. For me the worst thing about dry skin is, that it does’t only just feel not so great but it also makes my makeup look bad. There’s nothing I hate more than not having a flawless foundation and with dry skin that just isn’t possible because most foundations or powders just tent to cling to any dry patches. Yuck!

Despite using moisturiser every morning and every night  my skin just didn’t have that hydrating healthy look I really wanted. So about a month ago I bough the Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum because they were having a skin care sale and I thought why not give it a go. I’ve really liked most of the boy shop products I’ve tried so far and I got for half the price. That are enough reasons for me to try it.

Basically this is a serum in oil, which you apply all over your face as a last step in your night time skin care routine. Don’t apply it right before bed though as it is an oil like texture, that is slowly absorbed by your skin and you don’t want any stains on your bed sheets, do you? Accoriding to the body shop this is supposed to recharge your skin with moisture overnight. It’s supposed to be like an 8 hour beauty sleep in a bottle. Sounds pretty magical to me.

Now I’ve used this every single night for the past 3 weeks I think and it’s been a total life saver. When I wake up in the morning my skin feels healthy and hydrated. No more dry areas! It’s so soft and so much more radiant. I was hoping that this would work but I didn’t expect to love it this much.

SAM_5616

Plus I adore the cute packaging. It looks so fancy.

I know for a fact that I will definitely always use this in the colder months from now on. I’m so happy with how much it has really improved my dry skin.

Have you ever tried this? What is your favorite product against dry skin?

A Skin Care Staple

SAM_5476
SAM_5480

It wasn’t until about a year ago that I really got into skin care. Yes, you heard that right. I’ve always made sure to take my make up off before I went to bed at night and I sometimes would use a cleanser and a moisturiser but it wasn’t until a year, that I started investing in more products and  building up my own skin care routine. Nowadays I can’t imagine my life without my skin care routine. At least not the night one. I do sometimes lack the energy to do the full routine when I have to get up early in the morning. I’m sure I’m not the only one though. We’re all humans and I belong to the kind, who really appreciate sleep. Just not really a morning person.

In today’s post I’m not going to talk about my entire routine but about one product I’ve been repurchasing every time after having run out of it, so I think it’s safe to say it’s become one of my skin care staples within the last few months.

I’m talking about the The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil. If you’ve ever done any kind of google search on skin care you might have come across tea tree oil and how it’s supposed to be amazing for acne prone skin. I don’t really have, never really had, acne prone skin but for whatever reason I started getting more breakouts when I started university a year ago. Weirdly enough I’ve always had perfectly clear skin until I moved to the Netherlands to start university. I didn’t know whether it was caused by stress or hormones but I did know I wanted to do something against it. Hence I did some google research and came across this little gem. It’s not a magical product, that just makes your skin picture perfect but it has helped my skin to improve immensely in the course of a few months.

Now what I do is, I apply a bit of this oil on all the parts of my face, where I think I need it. Basically I cover any blemishes with this. It took some time but my skin has been improving a lot since then and I just love the refreshing feeling it leaves on my skin. It just feels so clean. Although I’m not really a fan of the smell of this product, as it is quite strong, I love this little oil and I’m so glad I discovered it. If you’re struggling with some blemishes or spots I think this is a great product to get rid of those. It leaves a really refreshing feeling on your skin and most importantly it doesn’t dry it out.

It’s definitely a product I will continue to use because it’s amazing and really affordable!

What are some of your skin care staples? Have you ever tried this?

Another Month, Another Haul

Hey lovelies!

I’m a bit ashamed that I have another haul post for you already. My latest haul post was posted a few days back and here I am typing up a new one already. I guess it’s safe to say that I haven been a bit naughty when it comes to spending money lately. Admitting you have a problem is the first step though, right?

However I don’t regret buying any of these lovely pieces (so far) and I’m excited to share them with you. Let’s rock and roll.

SAMSUNG CSC

Diorskin Star Foundation

This lovely little beauty is the latest edition to my make up collection. I just got it yesterday and haven’t actually tried it yet but I have very high hopes for this one. I’m very much on the pale side and have trouble finding a drugstore foundation that matches up with my skin tone. During the summer months I bought the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation, which I have been loving but unfortunately it is now a bit too dark. Originally I wanted to buy the YSL Fusion Ink but after reading some more reviews I was more and more unsure whether to buy it because I heard that it is quite drying and I have pretty dry skin already. Hence I went to one of my favorite make up stores and one of the lovely ladies who work there matched me up with a few different foundations and the Dior one just looked exactly like my skin. You could not even tell I was wearing any foundation, so I’m really excited to fully test it.

SAMSUNG CSC

Next up are some skin care items.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil

I’ve always loved the Body Shop tea tree oil as it helped me with reducing redness and blemishes and I like the refreshing feeling it leaves on my skin after using it. I simply ran out and got another one.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum

I’ve heard a few good things about this one, which really made me want to try it. It’s basically this oil based serum that you put on your face before you go to sleep and then it is supposed to make your skin all kinds of amazing overnight. Since I do have pretty dry skin I thought this might be a good idea and so far I’ve really been liking it. My skin looks a lot more hydrated and awake in the morning.

SAMSUNG CSC

Sephora Cream Lip Stains

I have been lusting after these for quite a while. Unfortunately there’s no Sephora, where I live and during my last trip to Sephora in Chicago in May I forgot to get these. I was just so overwhelmed by the choices, I guess. Lucky for me though, one of my lovely friends went to Paris last weekend and got me these. I have them in the colors Always Red and Endless Purple. I can’t wait to try them out.

SAMSUNG CSC

Essence Long Wearing Lipstick on 09 Berries

I’m obsessed with berry lipsticks at the moment and I’ve really been loving Essence. They are so affordable and surprisingly good quality for the price. Yes, I’m slightly obsessed with lip products and have way too many to wear but hey… one more can’t do any harm either, right? I’ve only worn this a few times but so far I’m really liking it.

Astor Color Last VIP in 007 Bubbly

This is my very first Astor lipstick I’ve purchased and I’m very curious how I will like it. The packaging looks really classy and I’m in love with that dark yet bright pink shade. I have a feeling I will be wearing this quite often in the next few weeks. I really am loving that color!

SAMSUNG CSC

And that’s it for another cheeky little haul. All of these products are products, which I think I’ll be enjoying a lot and I can’t wait to fully test them. If you would like to see a full review on any of these items just let me know and I’d be more than happy to write one.

Have you guys been feeling a bit too spendy lately? What have you been buying?

Sneaky Little Drugstore Haul

Yesterday I posted a sneaky little high end make up haul showing you guys all of the more expensive make up items I bought recently, so it’s only fitting that today’s post is all about some drugstore make up I bought. It’s nothing too crazy but I got a few pretty cool things.

SAMSUNG CSC

First of let’s see the skin care stuff. I got the Garnier Pure Cleansing Gel. This is basically just a regular cleanser that removes your make up and cleanses your skin. I’m not too keen on the smell of it but it does remove even waterproof make up and I really like it. The next skin care product I got is a big pot of some good ol’ Nivea Cream. This pretty much is my favorite moisturiser. It’s not all that fancy but I basically grew up with it. My mom’s always used it and I just love it. It’s so soft and gentle on the skin and I can really feel how my skin loves this stuff and so do I.

SAMSUNG CSC

Makeup wise I repurchased my Maybelline Matt Make Powder. I’ve featured this quite a lot on my blog lately. It’s in my June Favorites and I wrote an entire review on it. But hey I just really like it.

Another thing I got is the Maybelline ColorSensational in 338 Midnigth Plum. I’ve been wanting a deep purple lipstick for a while now and when I saw this one I couldn’t help it. I had to swatch it. I really like the deep purple and how it’s so shimmery and glossy, so as you might be able to guess it ended up in my little basket. No regrets though.

SAMSUNG CSC SAMSUNG CSC SAMSUNG CSC

Last but not least I bought 2 mascaras from Essence. It wasn’t really my intention to buy a mascara (and I ended up with 2. Oh Lord!)  but their packaging stood out to me. Don’t really know why but I have a bit of a thing for big chunky mascaras and then I saw the price. 1,25. Come on who wouldn’t buy these? Right? I was just so intrigued because these must be the cheapest mascaras I’ve seen so far. I’ve already tried the purple one once and I’m actually surprised by how good it is. Full reviews might be coming up soon, if you guys want:)

SAMSUNG CSC

We’ve already reached the end of my little haul. Told you guys it wasn’t much.

Until next time,

Sophie

Sunday Spa Day: Aloe Protective Restoring Mask

As we all should know skin care is one very important thing. If you think about it we put our skin through a lot on a daily basis, so we should take better care of it. At least I know I put my skin through a lot by applying my make up daily and sometimes skipping parts of my skin care routine whenever I’m in a rush. Therefore I try to pick one day of the week where I give my hair and skin a break and pay some special attention to them. This day tends to be Sunday as it is the day of the week where I don’t really make plans and just try to relax a little and give myself a break.

SAMSUNG CSC

I don’t think I’ve mentioned it much but for my current skin routine I’m using a lot of products from the Body Shop Tea Tree range. They don’t smell that great but they work really well on my skin. I’d say I have pretty normal skin. It’s not oily and only sometimes gets a bit dry in the winter. Anyway on Sundays I do my regular morning routine and after doing my night time routine I love to use the Aloe Protective Restoring Mask. Although my skin is not too problematic it is really sensitive and I can feel it being stressed after a long day. When I went shopping for my regular skin products a while back I looked through the different shelves and somehow got stuck with the Aloe Protective Restoring Mask. It is especially made for sensitive skin, so it ended up being one of my purchases.

SAMSUNG CSC

I definitely have not regretted it though. You are supposed to use it once a week for ideal results. Every Sunday night after my regular routine I apply a bit of this on my skin and leave it for up to twenty minutes before wiping it off. The mask itself looks and feels like a very thick cream moisturiser.

SAMSUNG CSC

I love the way it feels on my skin. I can immediately feel my skin being repaired when using it. No kidding! I just let it sink into my skin and let it do its magic. After about 20 minutes I just rinse my skin with warm water. After that my skin feels so relaxed and soft it’s pretty incredible. This face mask is slowly becoming one of my essential skin care products and if you have really dry skin I can only recommend this for you. It should work amazing! My skin seriously has never felt more moisturised or healthy then after using this face mask!

Happy Sunday!

April Favorites

image

April really flew by like it never even happened and it’s already May! Can you guys believe it? I still can’t quite wrap my head around this. It’s like 2014 is flying by so qickly. Anyway this is my first monthly favorites post ever! A lot of bloggers do this and I think these kinds of posts are not only fun to read but also very informative because if someone likes to use a product all the time through an entire month it has to be kind of good, right? So without further a do let’s get to my favorite things I’ve loved all throughout the month of April.

image

These pair of biker boots have been worn by me so much this month.  In fact I’ve come to love them so much I don’t know why I didn’t give them a go earlier as I’ve owned these for over a year now. I guess that’s because I used to not be much of a fan of biker boots or leather boots in general. Apart from my cowboy boots, which I got into when living in Louisiana, I’ve never been much of a boots person. I’m the kind of girl, who loves to wear pretty shoes.Unfortunately most pretty shoes aren’t very practical. Especially not when you’re cycling a lot. So ever since I moved to the Netherlands, I’ve been basically living on my bike as I’ve told you guys multiple times now. My bike just takes me everywhere I need to go. From university to the grocery store or God knows where. These shoes are absolutely perfect for my life right now. They are so comfortable and go with a lot of different outfits. It doesn’t matter too much if they get dirty or worn out a bit. To be honest, I actually think biker boots are the type of shoes, that only look better when you can see that they are being worn a lot.

The Body Shop Honey Bronzer
I only got this bronzer towards the end of April but I’ve pretty much worn it every day since then. I really love this because it’s so easy to apply evenly and I’ve finally found a color, that doesn’t make my face look all muddy or orange. I’m more on the pale side when it comes to skin color, so I’ve always had trouble finding a good bronzer for me but it looks like this one might be the one. I got it in the lightest shade by the way.

Bobbi Brown Nude Glow Shimmer Brick
This was given to me as a gift and it’s probably one of the best make up gifts I’ve gotten so far. I am just so in love with this. The packaging is so luxurious and beautiful and the 4 colors it contains are just drop dead gorgeous. You can use this as a blush to glam up a natural look or if you want to achieve that sun kissed look, this is just perfect.  Of course you can also use these colors as eye shadows. They will make your eyes shine for sure.

Mac Girl About Town Lipstick
This baby is one of my absolute favorite lipsticks. I really love bright pink shades and this is the bright pink shade of my dreams. I’ve written a full review of this, so if you’d like to read that just click right here.

image

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner
Skin care is incredibly important and so is finding the right products for you.  I’ve tried out a mini version of this toner and I liked it so much I went and got the full version after using up the mini one. Though I’m not too keen on the smell of this it really helped my skin and what I love about this as well is that you don’t need too much of this product so even if you use it twice a day it will last you for a long time.

The Body Shop Indiane Night Jasmine Fragrance Mist
This is one of my favorites scents for every day use especially in spring and summer because it smells like flowers and sunshine and summer to me. I’ve tried to review it before but please be aware I’m not good at describing perfumes. I’ve tried it anyway, so you can read that here. I wear this a lot in general but this month I’ve been wearing it more than ever.

L’Oréal Paris Elnette de Luxe
The L’Oréal hairspray has been my go to hairspray for months now but  I used to use the one in the gold and pink packaging. I’ve always loved it except for the quite strong scent of it. This month I discovered that they also offer one that has no scent at all, so I switched to the one in the gold and light blue packaging. They don’t really have different names. They just show the different kinds with different colors, so I don’t know how else to describe it. This works just as good as the pink one but it doesn’t have a smell, so I guess I’ll be using this from now on.

That’s it already. These have been all of the products I’ve loved and used the most this month.
Happy May!
