Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Palette

IMG_1612

Just like most other people probably I definitely have my preferences when it comes to the finishes of specific makeup products. Lipstick-wise I’m all about matte but when it comes to eyeshadow I’m obsessed with shimmery sparkly ones. Nonetheless I know that every makeup obsessed person should definitely own some good matte basics. It’s not that I don’t have any, I do, but when I first heard about the Tartelette matte palette I was really curious to try it out. Getting some good matte eyeshadows isn’t very easy because unfortunately many have a very powdery/chalky formula, which makes them hard to work with and they don’t last as long as I’d like/expect them too.

IMG_7150IMG_7153

Hence the idea of a palette that comes with 12 matte eyeshadows, that you can use as a base, for a more neutral look but still can create a more dramatic one sounded like something I needed to add to my collection. Besides I’ve always wanted to try Tarte as a brand and this is my first product by them.

I’ve had this palette ever since the beginning of July, so I’ve now used it thoroughly for the past 2 and a half months and it’s become one of my most used palettes to be honest, which I sure did not expect. Since I’m a total lipstick addict and basically never leave the house without something on my lips I’ve loved using this palette for days when I have class or work, because those are two occasions on which I do like to wear makeup but I also don’t want a very dramatic eye makeup and lipstick because for me, personally, that is a little too much. But each to their own.

IMG_7157

In my eyes this palette includes the perfect mixture of cool and warm toned neutral basic matte shades because it includes highlighting shades, browns, taupes, pinks, purples and a very nice black. When it comes to the formula of these matte,s I’d say the different shades vary from average to good. Some of the shades are incredibly silky, soft and buttery. They’re so nicely pigmented and blend like a dream. Other shades, especially the purple ones seem to be a bit more chalky or powdery but there is still no shade in this palette I completely dislike or don’t use at all. As always I have some swatches for you, so you can see how pigmented they are.

IMG_7160

(Middle row: Care Giver, Natural Beauty, Best Friend, Bombshell)

IMG_7166

(Bottom Row: Super Mom,Wanderer , Power Player, Fashionista)

Some of my favorite and most used shades are Super Mom, Caregiver, Natural Beauty, Power Player and Multi Tasker. I think all five shades are beautiful, nicely pigmented and the formula is very nice and silky. My two least favorite shades are Best Friend and Bombshell. Although they look so beautiful in the pan they are a bit more chalky than the other shades and less pigmented than I expected them to be.

In my opinion this palette is great for everyone, who prefers mattes over other formulas or anyone who just wants an all matte palette really. I use some of the shades in here almost on a daily basis either when I want a very simple eye makeup or I use them as a base. I think especially Power Player and Multi Tasker make some great transitioning colors for the crease. Overall I’m very happy with this palette and definitely don’t regret purchasing it.

Have you tried this palette? What are your thoughts?

Thanks so much for reading!

A Little Mac Lipstick Haul

Hey lovelies,

I’ve been such a terrible blogger lately. I barely managed to get one post up per week throughout the last two months and I feel awful about that because I love to blog. I just thought that I was going to be doing so much blogging this summer and now I have one week left before school starts again in September. How am I starting my third year already? I swear I just graduated high school yesterday. In general, my summer has just been a lot more busy than I expected. Because guess who has a job now? Yep, that’s me! I figured since I’m 20 now it would be a good thing to get a bit of work experience so while I’ll be a college student during the week I’ll be working on weekends but no worries I’ll definitely be trying to fit blogging into my schedule. If others can do it so can I, right? But enough about me now.

I’ve been adding so many new makeup products to my ever-growing collection throughout the last 2 months there will be a lot of reviews coming up, so to kick it off I figured I could start with one of my favorite things in the universe – Mac Lipsticks obviously! I always talk about how much I love a matte finish when it comes to lip products, so when Mac launched their new matte lipstick collection I was very very very excited and couldn’t wait to get my hands onto some of the colors. At first I only wanted to get one and wait until I got my first pay check but, you guessed right, I couldn’t wait that long and ended up getting three of them.

IMG_4617

Matte Royal

This is probably the craziest and least wearable shade from the entire collection since it’s blue but ever since the first time I saw this online I knew I had to have it. Although I love my nudes and mauves on most days I can’t say no to a unique color like this. I always go for the crazy ones. So even though every one I talked to about getting this lipstick told me I was insane I went online to purchase it but it was sold out. I was kind of frustrated and ended up randomly ordering Instagator because it was a dark color and I’m a sucker for vampy dark shades. Anyway.. so the next day my best friend and I went on a little shopping trip and when we went to the Mac store they still had it there, so I obviously I bought it! I’m not gonna lie it’s not the most wearable shade but I love it anyway. It’s a lovely blue that has some purple to it. It’s not as pigmented as the other two I bought but it still is quite long lasting and doesn’t dry out your lips

IMG_4865IMG_5240IMG_5031

Instagator

As I mentioned earlier I just ordered this color online because I was annoyed that all the other shades I originally wanted were sold out already. Basically I bought it because it was described as a smoky black purple. That sounded like a cool color to me so before I could think twice I added it to my basket and checked out. Looking back I am so glad I bought this color because it is absolutely stunning! It’s such a dark purple, which makes a lovely color to wear for fall and winter. Honestly, I’m so done with summer right now because I just want fall to start so I can wear this lipstick. I love a dark lip so this couldn’t be more perfect for me because I didn’t own a dark purple before. Since I just kind of randomly decided on buying this color I’m even more impressed with how much I love it. I have a feeling this might become a new favorite.

Persistence

When I swatched this at the Mac store I instantly knew this was the color for me. I’m such a lipstick obsessed person even when I don’t wear a full face of makeup you’ll rarely ever catch me without something on my lips. Since I’m quite pale I like nude lipsticks that lean more towards a darker color than very light, so one of my go to colors has been the hyped up Velvet Teddy. It’s without a doubt my most used lipsticks and even though I only got it a few months ago I’m more than halfway finished with it, which is making me very sad. Ever since I bough Persistence I’ve been wearing it nearly every day and I feel like I might even love this more than Velvet Teddy because it’s more of a brown color and slightly darker. It’s just a great color and it makes my lips look so much fuller. But the best thing is that it really lasts! When I wear it to work it lasts so well. I usually apply it around 10.30am because I start at 11.3oam and it lasts until my 30 minute break at 6pm so I only have to reapply it once before I can go home at 8. What more could I want? I’m seriously love with this lipstick!

IMG_5237IMG_5238FullSizeRender

So these have been the colors I’ve picked up from Mac’s new matte collection so far although I’m pretty much 100% sure that I’ll be adding some more. Have you purchased any? Which ones are on your wish list?

Thanks so much for reading!

Much love,

Mac’s Impassioned – One For The Brave

It seems as if summer is finally well and truly here as we’ve had some lovely weather over here and according to my iPhone it’s supposed to stay that way. I only have one exam left to take before I head off to Spain in a few days, so it’s really starting to feel like actual summer to me. Now we all change the clothes we wear in regards to seasons and I tend to do the same with my lipsticks. There are definitely some I wear all year around but others only come out a certain time of the year.

IMG_0215

One of my absolute favorites for summer is Mac’s Impassioned. I think it’s one of the most gorgeous lipsticks I own, however, I’m also aware that this one is not quite for everyone. Impassioned is just the most bright, vibrant, loud almost neon like pink. Now I’m really into bold and unique colors but if you barely stray away from neutrals this is definitely not the one for you.

I absolutely adore Impassioned because I find it to be such a fun color. But it is a very in your face kind of pink and it definitely almost seems to scream ‘Look at me!’ Nonetheless this is one of my favorites for summer because if you can’t wear such a fun color in summer, when can you? Besides it just remind me of sunshine and the ocean and watermelon for some reason.

IMG_0226

Impassioned comes in an Amplified formula so it is incredibly pigmented. But it also feels quite nice on the lips at it is relatively creamy and not drying at all. I definitely tend to wear a lot less make up in summer and one of my favorite looks is a really simply eye make up so maybe either just mascara or mascara and a little bit of eyeshadow (usually and bronzy shade) paired with a really bright and fun lip color. Obviously Impassioned is perfect for that. I feel like it’s one of those lipsticks that really kind of brighten up my complexion and really add to that summer vibe.

So if you’re into pink or just fun and vibrant colors and don’t shy away from bold lipsticks you need this in your life! Seriously need this! As always I have some swatches for you and I took some pictures (sorry they’re not the best!) of how it looks on my lips. But do bare in mind that the pictures don’t completely give justice to the color because it’s even brighter and louder in real life. Oh and please don’t mind my weirdly colored arm because my fake tan is peeling off and I know I really need to take care of sorting this out.

IMG_0222    IMG_0238IMG_0236

So this is today’s post on one of my favorite lipsticks for summer!

What are some of yours? Are you into bold colors and do you play it safe and stick to your neutrals?

Much love and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Sophie

Blushing Beauties

Hey guys,

how have you all been lately? I’m finally done with all of my exams for the most part, so I can get back to a more regular blogging schedule! I’m so excited! I can’t wait to write some more lifestyle posts now that I have the time but for now I’m back with another review of two beautiful Chanel blushes.

IMG_9794

I’ve been using both of them for weeks now and totally in love although the are almost too beautiful to use. Do you ever have that problem when you buy a really nice make up item and it’s so pretty you don’t even want to use it but then you kind of spend a little fortune on it so it’s too expensive to just be sitting there on your vanity? I have this all the time because I just can’t say no to pretty make up. I know! It’s a problem! Anyway… these are actually my first Chanel blushes. So far I’ve only owned a view lip glosses and lipsticks and some eyeshadows but I never really looked much into their blushes because for high end blushes I love Nars and Mac and I think there are so amazing drugstore blushes out there like Milani. I love using blush and the way it really can make a difference to your face but I don’t go as crazy about them as I do with lipsticks and eyeshadows if that makes any sense.

IMG_9795

When I saw Chanel’s spring collection and dissevered the Blush Camelia Rose blush it was love at first sight though. However, those blushes are quite expensive so I was head over heels when my brother got it for me for my birthday in March. The other blush I’m going to talk about is the number 170 Rose Glacier, which my Grandma so kindly got for me, so let’s get right to it.

Camelia Rose

I think it is pretty self-explanatory why this was love at first sight! Just look at this blush. It is probably one of the prettiest make up items I have ever seen and definitely the prettiest one in my collection. It’s so pretty that I barely even touched it for the first few weeks because I just thought it was too pretty to use and my brother was already getting a bit confused why I was never using it and thought I didn’t like it. But now on to the actual product. As the name already kind of suggests it’s a beautiful soft pink rose-colored like shade. As you can see from the picture the blush itself is made up out of two colors, a darker pink and a very light one. I usually swirl my brush through both colors and mix them together as the light one is so light it is more of a highlight then a blush. But if you use the tow colors together you get a beautiful cool-toned soft pink with a slight shimmer although this blush is definitely more on the matte side. I think the pigmentation is just right for this blush because it is more of a subtle color for a really natural look. Even though this is blush really does remind me of Spring it’s definitely one you can use all year around, whenever you’re going for a really soft and natural look but still want some rosy cheeks.

IMG_9796IMG_9797

170 Rose Glacier

While visiting my Grandma in late April this year she took me shopping and obviously we ended up at a make up counter because my grandma knows me well. After lusting over all the beautiful products we ended up look at Chanel blushes and swatched a few. My grandma and I both loved Rose Glacier with my skin tone, so she bought it for me. I swear, she just spoils me way too much.

Okay, so Rose Glacier is an absolute little stunner. It actually reminds me a bit of Nars Orgasm because it has that same beautiful gold shimmer to it but while Orgasm is more of a peachy pink Rose Glacier is more of a cool-toned pink. Even though it is more cool-toned the golden shimmer in it adds warmth to the blush again and it really brightens up your complexion and gives you the most gorgeous rosy cheeks with a golden glow. When applying this I’d definitely recommend using a light hand thought because this blush is insanely well pigmented and you don’t want to end up with super bright pink cheeks. Or maybe you do but I definitely don’t!

IMG_9800IMG_9798

As always I have some swatches for you. The first one on the left is Rose Galcier and the second one is Camelia Rose. You ca definitely see the pigmentation here but the swatch for Rose Glacier really does not do it justice because it has much more of a golden shimmer.

IMG_9803

I’ve definitely been loving both blushes and am really glad that I have them in my collection and they really make me want to add some more Chanel blushes and not only because of their beautiful and luxurious packaging. Both blushes I’ve tried so far are just stunning shades with good pigmentation that are easy to blend and last well. What more could I want?

Do you own any Chanel blushes? What are your thoughts? Which shades would you recommend?

Much love,

Sophie

Blush Lovin’ from the Drugstore

Hey you guys,

long time no see, or read in this case. I know I’ve been a bit quiet over here on my blog as well as on Twitter lately because I’m currently trying to make my way through finals and if you’ve ever attended University you know what that means. I’ve taken all of my in class exams and now only have some essays to finish, so I thought I’d give myself a break and finally type up a blog post again because I’ve really missed blogging to be honest, so I’m really excited to get at least one post up again. Today I want to talk about my obsession with the Maxfactor compact blushes to you.

IMG_9384

After seeing them all over my Instagram I was really tempted to buy one because they not only look super pretty but I also heard a lot of good reviews about them. Since I was at the mall with my mom and my brother anyway I decided to pick one of these bad boys up and give it a go. After some heavy swatting I eventually ended up with the shade 010 Nude Mauve. Turns out I was so impressed with this blush I went back and got 2 more shades: 15 Seductive Rose and my absolute favorite 25 Alluring Rose.

IMG_9385

All three blushes look insanely pretty in the pan, which is what first drew me to them. The packaging is quite simple and compact, which I really like. What impressed me the most though was how insanely pigmented they are, especially for drugstore blushes. And they are so easy to blend! If you prefer matte blushes these might not be the ones for you as they are shimmery. However, they are some of the prettiest shimmery blushes I’ve come across because they have the perfect amount of shimmer to them. Another thing I really like is that although not all of the shades are warm-toned they somehow really brighten up your face and warm up your complexion. Basically I love them, so let me tell you a bit about the individual shades.

10 Nude Mauve

As I’ve already mentioned this was the very first shade I picked up. After swatching all of them and looking at them from all different angles I went with this one because I thought I’d wear it the most. As the name already suggests it’s a beautiful mauve color but it has a bit of a golden bronzy shimmer to it. I love the shade mauve in lipsticks, which is why I initially went for it.

IMG_9386

15 Seductive Pink

This is basically your classic more cool-toned medium pink blush. I think it’s a stunning shade but that could also be because I always go for the cool-toned pink as they really suit me. This one has a bit more of a frosty finish which goes so nicely with the color.

IMG_9387

25 Alluring Rose

So this one is the last one I picked up but it has turned out to be my favorite out of the three. It’s just the most gorgeous bronzy shade with a golden shimmer and some light pink undertones. It’s a very warm-toned blush, which is why I’m so surprised with how much I love this because I tend to go more for cool-toned shades. But I just love the way this warms up my complexion. It really adds that little extra to my face that gives me a healthy bronzed glow. As I’ve already said this one is definitely my favorite and I would totally recommend this to anyone for the summer as it really gives you a beautiful summery bronzed glow!

IMG_9388

As you can probably already guess I’m absolutely in love with these blushes and I honestly didn’t expect I would like these as much because I rarely ever buy Maxfactor products. However, I’m so glad I gave these blushes a go because all three of them are stunning. Here are some swatches for you.

Have you tried these blushes? Did you like them?

Mac Violetta – Purple Is My New Thing

Hey you guys,

I’m back with another Mac lipstick review. Who would’ve guessed? If you happen to follow me on Instagram or Twitter you might have already seen that a little while ago I got Mac’s Violetta thanks to the Back2Mac program. I had finally gotten enough empty products to return and I ended up going for Violetta because I knew that it wasn’t a color I’d normally go for. Those of you who have been fooling my blog for a while know how obsessed I am with lip products and I love experimenting with crazy colors. However, purple is one color I’ve always kind of stayed clear of so far. I can’t even really explain why but for some reason I was really unsure of whether it would suit me. IMG_8403

I’ve ben eyeing up Violetta for the longest time but was never brave enough to go for it. Since you can chose a free lipsticks with the Back 2 Mac program I figured this would be my one chance to finally get it and I’m so glad I took it. Violetta is just the most beautiful vibrant blue-based purple with a slight frosty shimmer to it. It has an Amplified formula, which I absolutely love as it’s quite opaque and applies so smoothly. It hardly bleeds and it doesn’t feel drying at all. What more could you want?

IMG_8403IMG_8414

Now I’m not going to lie, when I first saw the color in the bullet I found it to be a bit scary just because I never wear purple lipsticks. But as soon as I applied it on my lips I basically fell in love. The color itself looked a lot different on me than I first though it would. It wasn’t as dark and even though it is very vibrant it’s not as loud and in your face as I expected it to be. The best thing about this lipstick, in my opinion, is that when it starts fading after a few hours it fades evenly to a beautiful plum pink stain.

IMG_8409IMG_7647

As you can guess from my review I really do love this lipstick. The formula is amazing and I’m seriously obsessed with this color. If you’re brave enough to go for a purple lipstick this is one you should try!

As always I hope you enjoyed reading!
Thanks and much love,

Sophie

Mac’s Sushi Kiss

Hey lovelies,

as you all probably know by now I’m massively obsessed with lipsticks and especially Mac ones. Thanks to my amazing grandma I could welcome another member to the family a few days back: it’s Mac Sushi Kiss, which has been on my wish list for quite some time.

IMG_6897

Sushi kiss is a very pale but bright orange that comes in a Satin formula, so it’s more of a semi-matte finish.. Nearly a year ago I bought my first ever orange lipstick, which was Mac Morange. Morange is one of my favorite summer lipsticks, which I love to use to brighten up a more simple outfit. However, when I saw Sushi Kiss somewhere online I right away fell for the shade because it’s very orange as well but it’s a very light almost pastel shade of orange, even though it looks very bright in these pictures. I just think it’s a very unique shade and so stunning over the summer month. And obviously I LOVE the name. It’s so freaking cute.

IMG_6901

The lipstick itself applies very evenly and glides on very smoothly, however, I’ve noticed that it can emphasize any dry patches you may have, so just make sure to moisturize your lips very well and you should by fine. When it comes to lasting power this one will definitely last you for a few good hours and the best thing is that it fades away evenly until it only leaves a stain. If you find this color to be a bit bright and intimidating when fully applied it looks really nice as just a stain.

So to conclude I’m so happy with this shade. Not only am I in love with the adorable name but I think Sushi Kiss is such a fun and vibrant color, that is perfect for the summer months if you are someone who doesn’t shy away from loud colors!

IMG_6976

What are your favorite Mac lippies for summer?

Much love,

Sophie
