Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in 13 Orchid Haze

One makeup item, which had been on my wish list for the longest time was one of the Tom Ford Eye Color Quads but since they are so damn expensive I hesitated on buying one for a while. Their lipsticks at $52 are already very pricey in my opinion but 80$ for an eyeshadow quad sure is one heavy price tag. Nonetheless I’ve been dreaming about purchasing one of these because I absolutely love Tom Ford lipsticks and the eyeshadow quads just look so insanely beautiful. So when I got a makeup gift card for my birthday I decided to spend it all on one Tom Ford item but I can’t even say I regret it because I love it so much.

IMG_0961

First off let’s just admire the packaging! It’s just so stunning I could literally stare at it for hours. Call me crazy I don’t care! What I do have to say though is that I was kind of positively surprised by how big the quad actually is, so there’s another plus. It also comes with two small double sided brushes. Now I personally never use any of the little brushes that come with any kind of eyeshadow quad or palette but it’s still nice to have them just in case. The last thing I want to mention about the packaging is that the quad comes with a massive mirror, which is another huge plus in my book. Gotta love a nice sized mirror for traveling!

IMG_0954IMG_0962

After lots of internet research I eventually decided to go with number 13 Orchid Haze because lately I’ve been loving mauve, dark purples and slightly rose toned brown shades, probably thanks to the Tartelette in Bloom palette. I was really hoping that I would love all four shades and thankfully Tom Ford did not let me down. Each shade is so soft and buttery, not chalky at all and incredibly pigmented. They all apply so nicely and blend like an absolute dream. Honestly the formula is amazing.

IMG_0956

I’ve mentioned before how much I love my shimmery eyeshadow, so I was especially happy about the slightly golden champagne highlighting color and its pigmentation. I feel like many of those light highlighting shades often swatch beautifully on your arm but once applied to your lid they seem to loose their pigmentation. At least I’ve come across a lot that seem to do so, which always results in me having to pack quite a lot of product onto my eyelids to reach the desired pigmentation. However with this eyeshadow I’ve not had that problem at all. It still looks absolutely beautiful on the eyes and so do the other three. My second favorite is the mauvey one in the bottom left. I absolutely love this as a transition color. It’s so stunning.

So is it worth $80? I believe with makeup products this expensive everyone has to kind of answer this question for themselves. Obviously there is absolutely no need at all to spend this much money to get some great eyeshadows because you can get so many other amazing products from other great brands for much less. Nonetheless to me it was worth the money but to me makeup is much more than something I just slap on my face. I love collecting makeup products especially high end ones, which is why I’m okay with spending the money because I know that despite Tom Ford makeup being so pricey it really is of very great quality and I’m not just paying for the name. Basically what I’m saying is if you’re someone who likes to splurge on luxurious high end makeup I would always recommend Tom Ford as a brand but nonetheless you can find tons of other great products for a much more affordable price.

As always thank you so much for reading!

Much love,

Sophie

March Favorites

We’re only a little over one week into April, so I think it’s still totally acceptable to be writing about my March favorites, right? Besides I haven’t written a favorites post in forever although they are some of my favorite type of posts to read because I’m just nosey and I love to see which products other people are loving and if I need to add them to my wish list. Now a lot of my March favorites I’ve already written a review about but these are just the products I’ve been using and loving the most throughout March, so it’s only right to include them.

IMG_8129

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

I’ve already written an in-depth review of this foundation but I’ve now been using it every day for around 6 weeks and I’m still in love. Honestly, I feel like this foundation is exactly perfect for my skin the way it is right now. It really makes my complexion look flawless and feels so light weight even when I wear it all day.

IMG_9151

Tartelette in Bloom Palette

I don’t even think I need to explain why this palette has been one of my absolute favorites in March. Just look at it! The color selection is absolutely stunning! And luckily the quality of the shadows is as amazing as they look. Each shade is so nicely pigmented and blends like a dream. What more could I wish for?

IMG_8967

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Pure Hollywood

This is another product I’ve written a full review on but I would be lying if I didn’t include it in this post because I have been reaching for this so often ever since I got it to be honest. To me this is the most perfect neutral shade, so whenever I can’t decide on a lipstick this is the one I reach for. It’s not too peachy, it’s not too brown or too pink. It’s not too dark and it’s not too light. It’s just perfectly neutral.

IMG_3246

Urban Decay Naked Palette

I know this palette has been out for years but I only just got it last Christmas. I kind of went backwards and first bought the Naked 3, then the 2, the On the Run, the Smoky and then finally completed my collection with the Original Naked palette. If I’m being perfectly honest I kind of mostly wanted this just so I have all three (cause I’m an obsessive makeup hoarder) but I’m really loving this palette even though I might’ve wanted it for the wrong reasons in the first place. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s my newest Naked palette but it’s the one I reach for the most out of all three right now.

Gerard Cosmetic Liquid Lipsticks in Iced Mocca and Cher

Liquid lipsticks are so hyped up everywhere and I’d been wanting to try the ones by Gerard Cosmetics for quite some time so obviously I ended up ordering two. First off Iced Mocca I absolutely adore because it’s such a unique and different color. I find it hard to describe but it’s kind of a greyish brown taupe maybe? Cher to me is a perfect mauve color and I sure do love my mauves. The lasting power and pigmentation is great and the they’re not too drying. Chances are quite high I’ll be going back to order some more shades in the near future.

IMG_3285

Tom Ford Velvet Orchid

Today’s last favorite is actually a perfume and oh my god am I obsessed with it. This is one of the best scents in the entire world to me and I can’t get enough of it. It’s definitely more of an oriental fragrance but then it’s also kind of spicy and has some floral hints to it. Basically I’m just as awful at describing scents as I am at describing colors but this is currently my absolute favorite perfume and every single time I wear this out somewhere at least one person seems to ask me what perfume I’m wearing.

And this already concludes my March favorites. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post. What are some of your current favorites?

Much love,

Sophie

Feeling Moody? *

In the past few days the weather over here has been so nice. It’s still pretty cold but the sun has been out a lot more and for some reason this has totally lifted my spirits and I’ve been in such a good mood. Honestly I’m just tired of this cold rainy weather and I’m so ready for Spring and Summer. One thing that has definitely helped me to get even more into the mood for sunshine and Spring  was a lovely delivery from Australia, which I received last week.

IMG_9138

A while back I was contacted by the lovely people from Moodi if I would like to try some of their body spritzers. I love perfumes/body sprays (who doesn’t?) so of course I was really excited to test these out. Moodi is a brand created and made in Australia and I love that they don’t test on animals. However, what I think makes them quite unique is their concept. The body spritzers they offer are all inspired by moods and right now they offer four different fragrances called Dreamy, Peppy, Chill and Loco.

IMG_9137

Like probably many girls out there I’m a total sucker for cute packaging, and I think these come in such cute and fun little bottles. I also love that they included a little bag and some fun stickers. I just think it’s little things like that, which make me like brands even more because it shows they put a lot of thought into their productsIMG_9142IMG_9143

So let me talk a bit more about the different scents. Peppy and Chill are both very fresh and light scents, which is what makes them perfect for those days when you don’t feel like wearing a heavy perfume but just want something fresh. Peppy is describes as ‘fresh apples with a touch of zest’ and Chill as ‘floral fruity apple with green cucumber’.

IMG_9140

While I do like Peppy and Chill my two favorite scents are definitely Dreamy and Loco. Okay, so Dreamy literally smells like a day by the beach and summer in a bottle. That’s the only way I could describe this scent but it smells so so nice. I feel like once Summer rolls around I’ll be using this all the time. It just makes me think of sunshine, the ocean, palm trees and pretty beaches.

So Loco smells like coconut and vanilla and I’m genuinely surprised by how much I love this scent because I usually don’t like anything coconut. I hate the taste of it and I’m not too keen on the smell either. But basically this smells like Pina Colada to me and I think it’s the vanilla in it that makes me like it so much.

IMG_9141

I love body sprays for spring and summer because I usually don’t like to wear heavy perfume unless it’s for a special occasion. I think it’s so cool that these sprays are inspired by moods and I have a feeling I’ll be using all four a lot this summer but Dreamy and Loco are my personal favorites.

Thank you for reading!

Tartelette In Bloom Palette

Last summer I unexpectedly fell in love with Tarte’s Tartelette palette, so the second I found out that they would come out with the Tartelette in Bloom palette I knew right away that I had to get my hands on it at some point. I finally got it around a month ago and have been playing around with it ever since.

IMG_9145

I think I’ve mentioned several times before how much I love glittery and shimmery eyeshadow. The more glitter the better, which is why I usually gravitate towards very shimmery eyeshadow and neglect the mattes, although we all need some good basic mattes in our makeup collection. After all it’s the mattes that help us to really add definition and dimension to our eye makeup! Initially I wanted the Tartelette palette because I figured that having an all matte palette would come in quite handy. What I didn’t expect was how much I would end up loving it. It has become one of my most used palettes in the past 6 or 7 months. Hence I just needed the Tartelette in Bloom palette in my life!

IMG_9146

While the Tartelette palette comes with 12 all matte shades the Tartelette in Bloom includes 9 matte shades but also comes with 3 gorgeous shimmery shades. But before I start talking more about the palette itself let’s take a moment to appreciate the stunning packaging! I think it’s so pretty. Every time I look at it I think of spring and sunshine and pretty flowers and it just makes me so happy. Okay now back to the actual product.

IMG_7273

If you look at both Tartelette palettes the first one definitely includes more cool toned shades like soft pinks, lilacs and purples along with your basic neutral matte shades. In contrast the Tartelette in Bloom palette has much more earthy warm toned shades, so they are definitely quite different when it comes to the color scheme.

IMG_9147IMG_9148

What I love about this palette is that there’s not one shade I dislike or not use at all. Of course I have my favorites but I do use them all. I love how soft and buttery each shade is and they are all so nicely pigmented. One minor thing I was not too happy about with my Tartelette palette was that some of the darker pink/purple shades weren’t as pigmented and didn’t apply as evenly as the other shades in the palette. However, I find all the shades in the Tartelette in Bloom palette to be very nicely pigmented and they all apply evenly and are a dream to blend.

IMG_9149

Of course I’m including swatches as always. The shades from left to right are Charmer, Jetsetter, Rocker, Smokeshow, Flower Child, Smarty Pants, Firecracker, Activist, Funny Girl, Sweetheart, Rebel and leader.

IMG_9150

To round off my review I just wanted to tell you which shades are my personal favorites. I love Jetsetter and Rebel for the crease and Flower Child and Sweetheart are lovely transition colors in my opinion. Obviously I love all 3 shimmery shades but Funny Girl is by far my favorite. It’s so stunning I can’t use this palette without using it. I love applying it all over my lid. Lastly one shade I’m also obsessed with is Leader. I don’t even know how to describe this color but it’s a gorgeous slightly reddish deep brown and I love using it to darken the crease as well as the outer V and along my waterline sometimes.

As you can probably already guess I love this palette. I couldn’t tell you which one of the two I prefer because they consist of such different colors but I’m glad I own both and they are currently some of the palettes I reach for the most. I think that about says it all!

UD Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer

Before I get into the topic of today’s blog post I just wanted to take a quick moment to thank you guys for the views, comments and likes on my last post. I was honestly a bit surprised because I’ve been so MIA on my blog lately but seeing that there are still people who seem to enjoy reading what I write has definitely motivated me even further to stay on track this time, so thank you!

With that being said let’s get back to makeup! Although my skin is not making too many problems I do have quite sensitive skin, which is why I like to stick with what I know and love when it comes to the base of my makeup (foundation, concealer, powder). I love to try out and experiment with all kinds of products, just not my basics. Hence I literally use the same foundation, concealer and powder every single time I do my makeup and rarely ever try a new product. However, every now and then I come across one that does spark my interest and I will eventually try it after doing some online research first obviously.

IMG_9001

After hearing lots of raving reviews about the UD Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer (seriously though could they have made that name any longer?) I caved in and decided to try it out because I do love Urban Decay as a brand and never purchased a product from them I didn’t like. Since I’m ridiculously pale anyway I didn’t even go to a store to get matched but just ordered the lightest shade available online.

IMG_8999

I do have to say I was a little surprised with how light the shade actually was but I do found it to be the perfect shade for my skin tone for highlighting and brightening up the under eye area. However, for covering any redness or blemishes on the rest of my face this shade definitely would have been too light. Luckily my skin is pretty clear so my foundation will usually cover up everything and I don’t need to add much concealer most days.

IMG_9002

What I really love about this concealer is that just as the name promises it feels so weightless and light on the skin. I know some people don’t mind but I just don’t like wearing products that feel really heavy on my skin. In general, I really like the formula. I find it definitely has enough coverage to cover up any dark circles and although I’ve read some people had problems with it creasing I definitely didn’t experience any creasing under my eyes with this concealer. Another thing I really like is that is has more of a luminous finish, which really adds to brightening up that under eye area.

IMG_8998

Before trying the UD concealer the Mac Pro Longwear was my holy grail concealer! So would I replace my Mac one for UD? Yes and no. When it comes to covering up dark circles and brightening I would actually prefer the UD one because it doesn’t crease on me at all, it’s very lightweight and I like the luminous finish it provides. But if it comes to covering any blemishes or redness I will definitely stick to my Mac Pro Longwear because I feel like it gives more coverage and it comes with a pump. The UD concealer comes with a wand like applicator similar to a lip gloss and I always find those to be to so unsanitary.

So to sum it up I feel like my UD and Mac concealers would make the perfect team for a flawless base.

Thanks so much for reading!

ABH Pure Hollywood – The Perfect Nude?

Hey lovelies,

I know it’s been a very long time since my last blog post. Around 2 months to be exact but for some reason I was lacking motivation when it came to blogging and life would always get in the way. However, I’ve missed my little space on the Internet and I’m excited and most of all motivated to finally get my blogging game back on track. If you happen to follow me on any social media, especially Instagram, you might know that of course I have still continued to expand my makeup collection because I’m just obsessed and I can never get enough. So I’m looking forward to sharing lots of reviews with you in the next few weeks.

I thought my first blog post, after my little break, should be about one of my current most used products. It’s no secret that when it comes to makeup my favorite thing to buy is lipsticks and lately, just like everyone else on the Internet, I’ve been loving liquid lipsticks.

IMG_8901

One brand I’ve always wanted to try is the Anastasia Beverly Hills ones as everyone seems to be raving about them. When one of my dear friends got two of their shades for me for Christmas I was absolutely ecstatic and could not wait to try them. While I’m not too keen on the shade ‘American Doll’ she got me, although I love the color, the one I want to talk about today I’ve really come to love ever since I first applied it on my lips.

IMG_8902

The color I’m talking about is a lovely nude called ‘Pure Hollywood’. For a while I was on this dark nude lip kick and it’s all I would wear but ever since I got the Tom Ford ‘First Time’ lipstick for Christmas I’ve realized that I need more lighter nudes in my life. ‘Pure Hollywood is definitely more on the peachy side but it still has a light touch of pink to it. I think it’s a stunning color for every day or the perfect neutral color to wear kind of even out a dramatic heavy eye make up.

IMG_8903

If I’m being totally honest the formula is not my favorite because it feels slightly tacky and sticky on the lips but not enough to the point that it really bothers me. It can get quite drying after a few hours of wearing it and you definitely need to prep your lips with lip balm before applying or else it will settle into any lines and make your lips look way drier than they actually are. But what I love is how pigmented this color is, how evenly it applies and how nicely it dries down. I, personally, love a matte finish. It’s my absolute favorite and I tend to wear matte lipstick almost on a daily basis, which is why I don’t necessarily mind that it can get a little drying because a lot of matte lipsticks and especially liquid lipsticks tend to do so. However, if you do have very dry lips and prefer lipsticks which feel soft and moisturizing this one might not be the one for you.

As always I’m including a swatch of what the color looks like on my skin as well as picture of me wearing it.

IMG_8904

Although I’ve tried liquid lipsticks with a nicer formula I love the color so much that it has still become one of my current most used lipsticks. The color is just so stunning and goes with just about every makeup look. Also I find that it is quite long wearing, which is why I love wearing it at work.

Have you tried any of the ABH liquid lipsticks? What are your thoughts? Which colors would you recommend?

Thank you so much for reading!

Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Palette

IMG_1612

Just like most other people probably I definitely have my preferences when it comes to the finishes of specific makeup products. Lipstick-wise I’m all about matte but when it comes to eyeshadow I’m obsessed with shimmery sparkly ones. Nonetheless I know that every makeup obsessed person should definitely own some good matte basics. It’s not that I don’t have any, I do, but when I first heard about the Tartelette matte palette I was really curious to try it out. Getting some good matte eyeshadows isn’t very easy because unfortunately many have a very powdery/chalky formula, which makes them hard to work with and they don’t last as long as I’d like/expect them too.

IMG_7150IMG_7153

Hence the idea of a palette that comes with 12 matte eyeshadows, that you can use as a base, for a more neutral look but still can create a more dramatic one sounded like something I needed to add to my collection. Besides I’ve always wanted to try Tarte as a brand and this is my first product by them.

I’ve had this palette ever since the beginning of July, so I’ve now used it thoroughly for the past 2 and a half months and it’s become one of my most used palettes to be honest, which I sure did not expect. Since I’m a total lipstick addict and basically never leave the house without something on my lips I’ve loved using this palette for days when I have class or work, because those are two occasions on which I do like to wear makeup but I also don’t want a very dramatic eye makeup and lipstick because for me, personally, that is a little too much. But each to their own.

IMG_7154

IMG_7157

In my eyes this palette includes the perfect mixture of cool and warm toned neutral basic matte shades because it includes highlighting shades, browns, taupes, pinks, purples and a very nice black. When it comes to the formula of these matte,s I’d say the different shades vary from average to good. Some of the shades are incredibly silky, soft and buttery. They’re so nicely pigmented and blend like a dream. Other shades, especially the purple ones seem to be a bit more chalky or powdery but there is still no shade in this palette I completely dislike or don’t use at all. As always I have some swatches for you, so you can see how pigmented they are.

IMG_7158

(top row left to right: Free Spirit, Force of Nature, Dreamer, Multi-Tasker)

IMG_7160

(Middle row: Care Giver, Natural Beauty, Best Friend, Bombshell)

IMG_7166

(Bottom Row: Super Mom,Wanderer , Power Player, Fashionista)

Some of my favorite and most used shades are Super Mom, Caregiver, Natural Beauty, Power Player and Multi Tasker. I think all five shades are beautiful, nicely pigmented and the formula is very nice and silky. My two least favorite shades are Best Friend and Bombshell. Although they look so beautiful in the pan they are a bit more chalky than the other shades and less pigmented than I expected them to be.

In my opinion this palette is great for everyone, who prefers mattes over other formulas or anyone who just wants an all matte palette really. I use some of the shades in here almost on a daily basis either when I want a very simple eye makeup or I use them as a base. I think especially Power Player and Multi Tasker make some great transitioning colors for the crease. Overall I’m very happy with this palette and definitely don’t regret purchasing it.

Have you tried this palette? What are your thoughts?

Thanks so much for reading!

Love,

Sophie
