Building Up My Mac Palette

One thing I’ve been wanting to own for years now probably is my own Mac palette. If you read my blog or follow my Instagram you might know that Mac Cosmetics is probably my favorite makeup brand if I had to choose (though that almost seems impossible). I’m obsessed with lots of different makeup brands but it’s Mac that was my first more high-end brand that I’ve tried and it’s the one brand that really started my makeup obsession and kind of got me into the world of makeup, so I think that’s why it’s so special to me.

IMG_8276

Now while I have quite the big Mac lipstick collection I don’t really own a lot of their eyeshadows although I’ve really been wanting to build my own palette for a long time now. I’ve recently mentioned that I’m working on the weekends now and I got my first pay check paid into my bank account the other day, which was quite the moment for me to be honest. It’s definitely nice to have some extra money to spend and it feels even better to know I’ve earned it myself. So my dad told me I should go and buy something special before starting to save up. I thought about what I might like and thought why not finally start building up that Mac palette I’ve been dreaming of? So I went online and ordered one of their Pro Palettes. Now I haven’t purchased one of the inlays yet as I’m not quite sure if I want one. I think they do make the palettes look more neat but then again I can’t fit in as many eyeshadow. So I’m still debating on that. Along with the palette I ordered 5 eyeshadows after watching tons of Mac eyeshadow must-have videos on YouTube.

IMG_8279

I already owned 4 regular eyeshadows by Mac before, a limited edition one and two of the new extra dimension eyeshadows, so I depotted my regular Mac ones and put them into my palette as well. And today I thought why not show you the colors I purchased and then maybe I can do some updates once my palette is filled up more.

IMG_8278

Now I’m going to start in the left top corner and work my way done just letting you know what shades I’m owning with a quick description followed by swatches of course.

Shroom

Shroom was my first ever Mac eyeshadow and as you can see it’s also my most used one. It’s a gorgeous shimmery shade, which I mostly use as a brow bone highlight.

Naked Lunch

I think Naked Lunch is a gorgeous light pinky champagne color. I love to use this one all over my lid.

All That Glitters

This one is quite the popular shade and I can definitely see why because it’s such a beautiful rose gold like shade. This is another one that I think looks stunning applied all across the lid.

Woodwinked

Woodwinked is another very popular shade and I absolutely love this one. It’s the most perfect bronzy gold.

Tempted

This one is my second Mac eyeshadow I ever bought and I love this one because it’s a gorgeous shimmery brown with a bit of gold glitter to it.

Espresso

Everyone needs a good matte brown, so I figured this shade would definitely come in handy. Especially for the crease.

Cranberry

Since I always hear everyone going on and on about how beautiful cranberry is for fall eye makeup looks and how it’s supposed to be especially flattering on blue eyes I finally caved in last year and bought it. And boy am I glad I did because it’s stunning and makes my blue eyes really stand out.

Green Smoke

My grandma actually bought this color for me a while back and why I’m not sure I would’ve picked it out for myself I do actually really like it. As the name suggests it’s like a muddy smoky green, that’s nice for a bit of a different smoky eye.

Satin Taupe

This is probably the one Mac eyeshadow everyone seems to own, so obviously I needed to buy it. After trying it out a few times now I can definitely see why as it’s incredibly beautiful.

(Swatches from left to right: Shroom, Naked Lunch, All That Glitters, Woodwinked, Tempted, Espresso, Cranberry, Green Smoke, Satin Taupe)

Although Shroom and Naked Lunch don’t seem to really show up here on this swatch they definitely do on my eyes.

So these are the shades that I currently have in my Mac palette and I’m very much looking forward to getting more. I’m always looking for good recommendations, so please do let me know your must haves!

Much love,

Sophie

A Great Palette For Those Glitter Lovers *

Hey lovelies,

I hope you’re all well. I’m finally done with all my exams for this semester and now have a few days off until my 4th semester starts next Monday. But before I get into today’s post I just wanted to thank you all for reaching 500 followers over here on WordPress. I know this is such a small number compared to other bloggers out there but it really means the world to me because when I first started my blog I only started it with the intention of having a little place where I could just write and I never ever believed that people would actually follow me and come back to read more. Every little comment or like means so much to me and always puts a huge smile on my face, so seriously a huge thank you to all of you who read my little blog! Okay, before this gets even cheesier let’s get into today’s post, shall we?

 SAMSUNG CSC

When the lovely people over from the Born Pretty Store contacted me a little while ago about whether I wanted to try out some more of their products, I was so excited because I’ve loved all of their products I’ve tried before. As I was looking through their website one item, which immediately caught my eye was this lovely little palette.

SAMSUNG CSC

I absolutely adore the design of it and it contains 12 glittery shades. If you’ve read my blog before you know how much I love my shimmery eyeshadows, so a palettes consisting of only glitter eyeshadows sounds pretty damn amazing to me. Now as I’ve just mentioned the palette consists of 12 lovely shades and it offers you a nice range of shades as well. You get a light blue, a mint green (one of my favorite colors), a few different shades of pink and some stunning brown and bronzed shades (my favorites) as well as 3 gorgeous silver/grey shades.

I was really impressed with how pigmented the shadow were and one aspect I really love is that they are glittery but they aren’t too glittery, so that you can only wear them for special occasion. They just have the perfect amount of glitter in them, which makes them wearable for the day as well as for a sparkly night out look.

 SAMSUNG CSC

My favorite shades are without a doubt the four shades at the very right because I’m a sucker for bronzy shades. They compliment my blue eyes really well and I’m more of a neutrals type of girl when it comes to eyeshadow most of them time. However, I also love the light blue and the mint green shade this palette includes. I can totally see myself wearing these in Spring a lot. I, personally, don’t wear pink eyeshadow too much but if you love pink these are some seriously stunning colors and I will try to incorporate them into my Spring and Summer eye make up this year for a bit of a girly touch.

SAMSUNG CSCSAMSUNG CSC

In general I think this would be a great palette for everyone who has a weakness for glitter. These are some gorgeous glitter shades that you can either use for a bit of a more glammed up neutral look or a you can go all out and create a sparkly night out look with the silver colors. And you can always add in a touch of color with some of the other shades.

If you like this palettes or are interested in the products the Born Pretty Store offers you can head on over to their website here.  I also have a little discount code for you if you decided to place an order, which is WEEG10.

I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post!

All The Mattes You Need

IMG_2452

When it comes to eyeshadow I’m a glitter girl all the way. Now when I’m talking glitter I don’t mean super sparkly disco ball looking like glitter but shimmery metallics or eyeshadow with a pearl or velvet finish. I hardly ever use mattes and hence don’t really own a lot. While I was in England a little while back I stumbled upon this Makeup Revolution Essential Mattes palatte while I was actually looking for their Essential Shimmers palette. Unfortunately that one was sold out, so I went and took a closer look at the Essential Mattes palette. Since it’s only 4 pounds and I don’t own a lot of mattes I figured it would actually be a lot smarter to go for this palettes as it claims to include all the essential matte shades you will ever need.

IMG_2450

I’m incredibly surprised by myself but I’ve been reaching for this palette almost on a daily basis. Usually I switch my makeup look up all the time but I’m currently home working on a lot of stuff for uni until my 4th semester begins next February. Since I’m quite busy with writing my essays I don’t leave the house too often and just don’t feel like putting a lot of effort into my make up or changing it up. It’s not like I’m going anywhere special anyway. Basically I’ve loft applying one of the soft pinky nudes all over my lid and either using the chocolate-brown or the taupe shade in my crease. It takes me 2 minutes and I have a more defined eye look and ready to go out the door to run some errands or meet up with some friends.

IMG_2447

When I first got my Makeup Revolution Flawless palette I reviewed it on the blog and declared my love for it. The Essential Mattes palette is just another amazing palette I really freaking love. It pretty much does contain all the matte shades you would ever need for a basic eye make up. You’ve got a few light pinky nude shades to choose from, you have some beige and browns including a chocolatey brown, a perfect taupe and a black (which is just super essential) Additionally it also includes 2 purple lilac shades and this gorgeous blue-green teal like color (sorry, I suck at describing colors), which gives you some shades to experiment with and add a hint of color.

FullSizeRender

The pigmentation of the shades is surprisingly really nice and they are just so perfectly easy to blend. If you apply your eye makeup in the morning the color intensity will fade a little throughout the day but it does last, so you won’t need any touch ups – at least I didn’t. I think for four pounds you really can’t go wrong with this and I would totally recommend this to anyone looking to get some matte shades!

Thanks for reading!

Much love,

Sophie

My Love For NYX Continues

NYX is a brand I’ve been mentioning on my blog more and more frequently as I’ve been trying out and loving more and more of their products. Obviously my best friend knows this as well, which is why she was so kind to get  me two more of their wonderful products for Christmas, one being a palette and one being a lip pencil.

IMG_2079

She gave them two me right before we took off for London or actually more like while we were on our way to London, so I’ve had some time to try them out while I was there.

First let’s talk about this pretty little palette. It’s the Love in Florence palette in the shade 05 Sunsets with Sophia (how very fitting). You get five lovely shades with this stunner and I think each shade is equally gorgeous and they all really compliment each other. It’s nice that you get some more nude and bronzed shades for a more neutral look but it also includes a sparkling black if you want to go for something a bit more dramatic! While in London I’ve been using this for a very neutral but still shimmery eye look and it’s lasted pretty well throughout the day.

IMG_2070IMG_2071IMG_2073

The other item she got me is this Jumbo Lip Pencil in the shade 708 Iced Mocha. I have to admit when I first unwrapped this I thought it was an eye pencil due to the color and because they look exactly the same except for the fact that they come in a white packaging. However, this is a lip pencil even though this isn’t a shade I would chose for my lips, to be honest. The texture is incredibly similar to their eye pencils, so basically you can use them for your lips but you can use them just as well for your eyes. I did try this on my lips and once blended it actually looks really cool but it’s definitely a shade I would prefer using in summer as it gives this bronzed glow once applied.

IMG_2075IMG_2078

Just like every other NYX product I’ve tried so far I love these and I have yet to find a product by them that I dislike.

What do you think of NYX as a brand? Any products you would recommend? Anything you’re not so keen on?

Thank for reading!

My Artdeco Palette

Hey lovelies!

It’s Christmas Eve tomorrow! Who’s excited? I sure am. So I’ve talked to you about building up my own little eyeshadow palette with Artdeco before as my mom put 12 little eyeshadows in my beauty advent calendar for me. I know, I’m really lucky she did this for me and I couldn’t be happier with the shades she picked for me.

IMG_1719

Building up an eyeshadow palette with the concept Artdeco uses is pretty much the easiest thing ever. They offer little boxes with the biggest one having room for up to 12 eyeshadows. The eyeshadow pans as well as the box you put them in are magnetic. This means that you can just easily pop them in and out. If you ever want to rearrange the colors or one is empty and you want to replace it or if you get bored of one shade and want to add a different shade it’s so easy to arrange them. So a big thumps up for that!

IMG_1724

Another big plus is the wide variety of shades. They have an amazing color range in different finishes ranging from matte to shimmery or super glittery. If you can’t find enough gorgeous shades to put together a little palette with the choices you’re giving there must be something wrong with you. Obviously I haven’t tried every color from their collection but every shade I’ve tried so far ( around 14 in total I believe) has been of a really good quality. Each shade is very pigmented, super easy to blend and they last a fair share on the lid without a primer.

IMG_1721IMG_1722

The only thing I’m missing when it comes to these eyeshadows is a cool name. I don’t know if it’s just me but I love when a make up product has a cool name. All of these eyeshadow just have numbers, which are printed on the lids (I’ve taken mine off) but you can also find them on the side of the little pan. Obviously this is just a minor thing though and I can only recommend trying out some Artdeco eyeshadows. They’re quality is amazing and I love their palette building system. It’s a super easy way to pick up some of your favorite shades and arrange them just the way you want without having to do any depotting or what-so-ever.

Here are some swatches of the shades I currently own.

IMG_1726

(Top row including the shades 373 19s, 544 26s, 30 51k, 380 21s, 378 23s, 206 14s)

IMG_1730

(Bottom row including the shades 271 27s, 314 44p, 316 24s, 311 40p, 45 31p, 38 40p)

I’m really happy with the shades my mom picked for me because now I have a nice range of nudes, browns and neutrals but I also have some great shades to use for a glittery smokey eye.

Have you ever tried any Artdeco products? What do you think of their palette building system?

Thank you for reading!

Love,

Sophie

Some Shiny New Things

Hey everyone!

I actually have a little haul for you today! I’ve been accumulating just a few make up bits over the last few weeks, so I thought why not put them all together in one little post. Some are newer than others and some I haven’t even had the chance to try yet. But let’s get into it anyway, shall we?

Artdeco Palette

I’ve talked about my Artdeco palette in my what’s in my advent calendar post before! As you can see it’s filled up quite a lot since then and I’m only missing two more shades! Eeek! So far I’ve loved every single shade I’ve discovered in my advent calendar. I just love the idea of how you can build palettes with the brand Artdeco and I think I might do a full post on the palette once it’s complete.

Soleil Tan de Chanel

Okay, so I’ve been lusting after this beauty for months now but I could never justify spending this high of an amount on a bronzer. As much as I wanted it, I really couldn’t. But my mom is a loyal customer of this beauty store close to where we live and every few months she gets a 30% discount on all products, so she got this one for me as a little gift because I passed all of my midterm exams! Yay! Go me! Passed all my exams and got the bronzer of my dreams. But anyway.. this bronzer is an absolute beauty and so luxurious. It took me a week to finally get myself to use it because I just didn’t want to even touch it before. It’s just so stunning.

Essence Lip Liner in Femme Fatale

I blogged about this yesterday and gave a full review of it. I discovered this amazing lip liner in my beauty advent calendar a few days ago and I’ve been loving it since. The color is stunning and the texture is amazing. If you want to read more just read the full review.

IMG_1472

NYX Powder Blush in Taupe

Apparently this is one of the best blushes for contouring for girls with pale skin that you can possibly get. I’ve read the best reviews about this one and since I’m pale and can’t ever get enough products I decided that I needed this in my life, so I went out and bought it. I’ve only tried it once so far, so obviously I can’t give a review on it but I’m excited to fully test this out in the next few days/weeks.

IMG_1546

Milani Baked Blush in 08 Corallina

Milani is another brand I’ve heard amazing things of and that I’ve been wanting to try for the longest time and now I finally ordered one of their blushes. Just look at it! How stunning is this! It’s one of the prettiest blushes I’ve ever laid my eyes on and I can’t wait to try it out because this literally just came in today. It’s the most stunning coral blush and I’m beyond excited to give this a good swirl.

IMG_1549

This already completes my little haul. Hope you enjoyed reading it.

Have you bought anything lately?

Palette Lovin’

It’s pretty safe to say I’m a lover of palettes! Palettes are just awesome. You get a wide variety of different shades all in one little box, that you can take with you wherever you go. Imagine you would have to travel somewhere and could only bring singular eyeshadows. The amount of eyeshadows you’d have to take.. yeah let’s not get into that.

Now there’s one palette in particular, that I’ve been obsessing over. It’s the Makeup Revolution Ultra 32 Eyeshadows Flawless palette. I know, there’s been a lot of reviews of this palette floating around the blogosphere lately but I’ve been loving this palette so much I just really wanted to write my own. Sorry!

IMG_0881

I think in the UK you can get this for around 8 pounds and I think I paid around 10€ or maybe 12€, when I ordered it from their website, because they do ship internationally.  I think the incredibly affordable price is one plus already, and it’s one of the reasons I needed to try this because most of my palettes are high end so  was really curious how this would compare. But of course that wasn’t the only thing. When I saw the shades online I thought they all looked incredibly gorgeous and I couldn’t spot a single shade I wouldn’t wear.

IMG_0882

Now that I actually have it in front of me, I still think the same thing. There’s not a single eyeshadow in this palette I won’t get any use out of. They’re all beautiful shades. The palette actually offers quite the wide variety as it includes warm nudes, soft bronzed shades, stunning metallics as well as mattes and all you need for a smokey eye. One of my favorite things about this palette is how it includes nude shades, so it’s perfect for a natural every day look but it has a lot of darker shades that are perfect for a smokey eye and more of a nighttime look. Plus it also includes shades as navy blue, a dark smokey green and coppery reds, which I quite like as you can experiment a bit with those.

IMG_0883

The shades in general all match together so well and I think it’s the perfect palette for fall and winter due to the colors it includes. I’m especially impressed with the metallics considering how incredibly pigmented they are. The mattes in this palette aren’t my favorites as they aren’t as pigmented and some of them don’t really show up that much on my eyelids. However that only includes about 3 shades. The rest of the palette is almost flawless to me.

IMG_0888

I’m really impressed with the high quality (apart from some of the matte shades) and I’ve been using this palette on a daily basis. I just love how it’s so versatile and you can do everything from a plain to a glittery party look. I can definitely recommend this palette and it’s one of my absolute favorites at the moment.

Have you tried any of the Makeup Revolution palettes? Which one should I get next?
