Makeup Revolution Skin Kiss Highlighter in Ice Kiss

As I’ve mentioned on my blog time and time again I’m an absolute makeup hoarder and I often solely buy products because I want them to be part of my collection and not necessarily because I need them. Not very smart I know. I feel like especially in the past two years I’ve become so obsessed with high end makeup and rarely ever buy makeup from the drugstore anymore, which is such a shame because it seems that I’m missing out on some amazing products.

IMG_6796

Recently a prominent drugstore chain opened up a new store close to where I live, so naturally I had to go and at least check it out. While I was browsing through their makeup aisle I stopped at the Makeup Revolution counter to look at their products, because I absolutely loved Makeup Revolution when I first started university. They had a sale on one of their highlighters so I couldn’t resist and before I knew it I had added one more highlighter to my ever-growing collection.

IMG_6788

The highlighter I bought is the Makeup Revolution Skin Kiss highlighter in Ice Kiss, which is the lightest shade they offer within this line. I’m very fair so when I find a highlighter suitable for pale skin my brain automatically tells me I need it. Ice Kiss is a very light icy yellow gold, so it definitely is a nice highlighter for pale skin tones. What I like about it is that its very shimmery without being glittery and chunky. In fact, it has a nice and smooth texture, that feels nice on the skin as well. I dislike highlighters that just sit on the skin but fortunately this one blends into the skin nicely.

IMG_6793

While the actual content of the product is what counts the most of course I still consider packaging to be pretty important. For a drugstore brand I think this highlighter is beautifully packaged. It comes in a shiny rose gold compact, which even includes a  huge mirror. Of course it goes without saying that this packaging can’t compete with luxurious brand such as Chanel or Tom Ford but I do think its looks very chic and high quality, unlike a to of products from the drugstore.

IMG_6790

Another bonus is the size of this highlighter, which is pretty big, as it contains 14 grams of product. In comparison a Becca highlighter only contains around 8 grams. The only downside is that its size makes it a little less travel friendly but I don’t really mind that.

Although I got this on sale for 4€ I still think it’s an absolute bargain even at it’s normal price for around 6-7€ and I’m actually really happy with this impulse buy. Now I feel like I definitely need to get back into playing around with more makeup from the drugstore because you can find some real gems for very little money.

What are some of your favorite drugstore makeup products?

Thank you for reading!

Makeup Revolution Haul

IMG_7532

Hey lovelies,

how are you all? Can you believe September is nearly over? It’s practically fall now! Ever since school started  again the weeks seem to have just been flying by! Anyway… since I’m working on the weekends now and earning some money I thought it was okay for me to place another Makeup Revolution order. I love all of their products I’ve tried so far and was curious to test some more. There were two palettes I really wanted to purchase anyway as I’ve been looking at them for a while now and then somehow those two turned into 8. But they did have a 3 for 2 offer and I got one palette for free so technically I only bought 6, right?

IMG_7728

Let’s start with the face palettes. So one palette I’ve really really been wanting to have for the longest time, practically ever since I first saw it online, is the Ultra Blush palette  in Golden Sugar. Seriously though! Just look at it! How freaking pretty is this palette? I’m not gonna lie I could just stare at it. This might be one of the prettiest looking things from the drugstore I’ve come across so far.

While looking through their face palettes I also saw that Makeup Revolution had just released a contour palette. If I’m being completely honest here I know do not actually need it. I don’t contour much and when I do I have my Anastasia Contour Kit, which I absolutely love, but their palette looked really pretty and they are so affordable, so I bought it anyway. I tried to justify this purchase by telling myself that I could see how it compares to my Anastasia palette. Please don’t judge me. I couldn’t help it.

Lastly I also purchased the Protection Professional Makeup Palette in Light obviously. I really like that this palette includes several shades of concealer, a powder, blush, bronzer and a highlighter. I thought this would be a good chance to try out their concealer and the palette is pretty great for traveling, because it has everything in it you would need for a decent face makeup. I’ve already tried two of the concealers and the powder today and they match my skin quite nicely so that’s great. Now I’m interested to see how well they last.

IMG_7731IMG_7626

Now on to eyeshadow palettes. They’ve had a 3 for 2 offer on their Salvation palettes and of course I couldn’t resist. So the first palette that caught my eye was the Pro Looks Palette in Stripped & Bare. Basically this palette is split into three sections that help you create three different looks. The first section offers variety of neutral colors, the second has some light pinks and berry colors and the last section includes more greys and olives, which look perfect for a smoky eye. I really like the shades this palette includes and how they all fit together so perfectly.

The next eyeshadow palette I went for was the Run Boy Run palette. This palette comes with 6 matte shades and 12 shimmery ones. Basically I thought this palette had some great color for fall in it and since it’s nearly October it would come in handy soon. Hence it ended up in my shopping cart.

Since I had already chosen 2 palettes I needed one more and I ended up going for Unicorns Unite and not just because of the name. I promise! But who doesn’t like unicorns? Seriously! Anyway… I really like the matte shades this one has to offer as well as the teal and purple shades.

IMG_7732

Since I spent more than £15 I got the I Heart Makeup Fast Love palette for free along with my order. Obviously I’d never complain about free makeup! Because who doesn’t like free stuff? This palette comes with 22 shimmery shades and 10 mattes. Although I probably won’t use all of the shades, it does include some very pretty ones I’m excited to try out.

Okay, so I don’t just hoard makeup I also constantly seem to be buying new brushes. But you do need the right tools to apply good makeup, right? So it’s totally understandable, right? Makeup Revolution offers some very affordable brushes, which is why I really wanted to try at least one. Eventually I ended up going for their contour brush and I can’t wait to try it out. Plus I really do like their sleek black design.

IMG_7733

Last but definitely not least I purchased their Naked Chocolate palette. This palette is probably the main reason for my order because I’ve been lusting after it for weeks. But it’s just so stunning, isn’t it? I’ve already been playing around with it and I can’t wait to test it out further.

So this completes my little haul. I know there are tons of reviews out there of these products already but if there is any product you’d like to read my thoughts one just let me know in the comments below and I’ll be sure to write a review on it.

So have you tried any Makeup Revolution products? Which are your favorites? What should I get next?

Thank you for reading and much love,

I Heart Definition Palette in Fair Review

IMG_3241

I’ve written about a few contour products I’ve already tried  before and I keep trying out new ones. The I heart Make Up I Heart definition contour kit in fair is my most recent one and I’ve also given it a spot in my January favorites post because I’ve really been loving it. I got this when I was in the UK over New Years with my best friend and just had to pick it up when I saw that it was only 5 pounds.

IMG_3240

I don’t do any heavy face sculpting but I love a bit of a contour just to emphasise my cheekbones and I have a bit of an obsession with highlighters to be honest. What I love the most about these little contour kits is that they contain a bronzer, a blush and a highlighter, which makes them perfect for when you’re on the go or want to take it with you for traveling. However, since I’m quite pale most of the bronzers are way way way too dark or orange for me and make me look all muddy instead of sun-kissed. Since this contour kit is especially intended for fair skin I was even more intrigued.

IMG_3241

First let’s talk about the bronzer. When I first saw it and swatched it on my hand I found it to be relatively brown and was a bit worked whether it would suit me because I’ve realised that brown greyish bronzers like the NYX powder blush suit me the most as they look the most natural on my skin. Once applied and blended I was really surprised how good the bronzer looked. The consistency is quite buttery and soft, which makes it a dream to blend and I’ve been using it for contouring a lot lately.

Next up is the blush. I would describe the shade as a soft dusty old rose pink and it’s absolutely stunning. It’s the exact kind of blush I would go for, for a simple and fresh every day look. It really compliments my fair skin so nicely.

Last but not least let’s talk about the highlighter! As I’ve already mentioned I’m a total sucker for highlighters! I love how they transform my skin from dull to glowing healthy and radiant! Although this one cannot beat my favorite highlighter of all time, my very beloved Mac soft and gentle, it’s nonetheless as stunning highlighter. I would describe it as a shimmery rosy champagne shade.

If you’re looking for a new contour kit that’s compact and travel friendly or you’re just starting out with contouring and want to get a kit instead of having to buy each product separately I can definitely recommend this. All three products are great, especially if you consider how affordable this is.

All The Mattes You Need

IMG_2452

When it comes to eyeshadow I’m a glitter girl all the way. Now when I’m talking glitter I don’t mean super sparkly disco ball looking like glitter but shimmery metallics or eyeshadow with a pearl or velvet finish. I hardly ever use mattes and hence don’t really own a lot. While I was in England a little while back I stumbled upon this Makeup Revolution Essential Mattes palatte while I was actually looking for their Essential Shimmers palette. Unfortunately that one was sold out, so I went and took a closer look at the Essential Mattes palette. Since it’s only 4 pounds and I don’t own a lot of mattes I figured it would actually be a lot smarter to go for this palettes as it claims to include all the essential matte shades you will ever need.

IMG_2450

I’m incredibly surprised by myself but I’ve been reaching for this palette almost on a daily basis. Usually I switch my makeup look up all the time but I’m currently home working on a lot of stuff for uni until my 4th semester begins next February. Since I’m quite busy with writing my essays I don’t leave the house too often and just don’t feel like putting a lot of effort into my make up or changing it up. It’s not like I’m going anywhere special anyway. Basically I’ve loft applying one of the soft pinky nudes all over my lid and either using the chocolate-brown or the taupe shade in my crease. It takes me 2 minutes and I have a more defined eye look and ready to go out the door to run some errands or meet up with some friends.

IMG_2447

When I first got my Makeup Revolution Flawless palette I reviewed it on the blog and declared my love for it. The Essential Mattes palette is just another amazing palette I really freaking love. It pretty much does contain all the matte shades you would ever need for a basic eye make up. You’ve got a few light pinky nude shades to choose from, you have some beige and browns including a chocolatey brown, a perfect taupe and a black (which is just super essential) Additionally it also includes 2 purple lilac shades and this gorgeous blue-green teal like color (sorry, I suck at describing colors), which gives you some shades to experiment with and add a hint of color.

FullSizeRender

The pigmentation of the shades is surprisingly really nice and they are just so perfectly easy to blend. If you apply your eye makeup in the morning the color intensity will fade a little throughout the day but it does last, so you won’t need any touch ups – at least I didn’t. I think for four pounds you really can’t go wrong with this and I would totally recommend this to anyone looking to get some matte shades!

Heart-Shaped Drugstore Beauty

IMG_1147

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while now you might have come across this little beauty several times but I’ve never written an actual review on it so considering that I’ve been liking it so much it’s only fair if it gets it’s own blog post! The blush I’m talking about is the Makeup Revolution Blushing Hearts in Peachy Keen Heart. Quite a long name there.

First off the packaging is the cutest thing ever. I love how it comes in this little heart-shaped box. Such a stunner, right? It might not be the best for traveling as it takes up quite a bit of room in my makeup bag but since it’s so pretty I don’t even mind.

If I remember correctly Makeup Revolution currently offers 3 blushes, 2 bronzers and 1 highlighter within the Blushing Hearts collection. All of them look beautiful but I decided to go with the peachy one as I’ve developed a little obsession with peachy blushers lately.

IMG_1139IMG_1145

What I love about this blush is that it basically offers you 3 beautiful shimmery shades or you can swirl your brush through all of them and mix them up to get the most perfect golden peachy pink glow on your cheeks.

The shade all the way to the left is the most gorgeous light golden peach. It’s stunning and might even be my favorite out of all three. The shade in the middle is a beautiful rose gold  and definitely the most pigmented. The shade on the right is quite similar to the one on the left but it’s darker and maybe a bit more on the orange side. All three shades are very pigmented and incredibly shimmery as they have a bit of a frosty metallic finish and they contain glitter particles as well. Now this might sound incredibly glittery but it adds the most beautiful not over the top glow to your skin.

Here are swatches from the shades left to right and one of them all together all the way to the right

IMG_1144

This has been an absolute favorite of mine ever since I got it and I think I might have to get my hands on the highlighter and bronzer as well when I’m going to England again in a few weeks! These shades are just gorgeous, add the prettiest peachy glow and they are quite long-lasting. What more could I want?

November Favorites

Who else can’t believe it’s basically December? I definitely can’t! November pretty much flew by but I’m so excited for December. It’s always one of my favorite months. I just love counting down the days to Christmas, decorate everything all festive and go Christmas shopping for my loved ones. It’s just the best time of the year, isn’t it?

But let’s go back to November. It’s been a pretty great month and I definitely have a little list of products I’ve been loving/using the most this month! Let’s get right into it, shall we?

IMG_1110

Today I’m going to start with some face products. Two of my favorite blushes this month have been my Gosh Natural Blush in 42 Watermelon and my Makeup Revolution Blushing Hearts blush in Peachy Keen. The Gosh one is more of a matte peachy blush and looks absolutely gorgeous for an every day look. The Makeup Revolution one actually offers three shimmery shades ranging from a golden peach to more of a soft pink but all shades are gorgeous. Basically these two blushes are almost the only ones I’ve been using all throughout this month as I’ve loved them so much. One product I’ve mentioned quite a lot on my blog before is the Kiko Golden Gamer Sculpting Bronzer but I just really enjoy using this product as it’s so good and I think I’ve used this almost every day of November, so I just had to include it in my favorites. I’ve written a full review blog post on it in case you want to read more.

IMG_1116

Next up is this amazing palette. It’s the Makeup Revolution 32 Eyeshadows Flawless palette and I’ve used this nearly every day ever since I received it. It’s so affordable, the eyeshadows are amazing and it’s up there with my favorite palettes at the moment. Just look at these stunning shades! I can’t wait to blog some Holiday Make Up looks with this palette.

IMG_1118

Another eye product I’ve been loving this month is my Mac Pigment in the shade Mauvement. I got this a couple of years ago as part of the Mac Tartan collection and it’s been somewhere in the back of my make up drawers until I rediscovered it this month. Mauvement is a gorgeous bronzed taupe kind of shade and I can’t believe I haven’t used it in so long as it is absolutely gorgeous.
The only lip product I’m including in this month’s favorites post is the Essence XXXL lip gloss in the shade soft nude. The color is an amazing brownish nude that is more on the darker side and I really like that this gloss comes with a matte effect!

IMG_1120

Last but not least here are two mascaras I’ve been loving lately! I received the Born Pretty Store mascara very recently but have been quite blown away by its great performance. It makes my lashes incredibly long and the design is the coolest I’ve ever seen. One mascara I’ve rediscovered in November is my Bobbi Brown Intensifying Long-Wear Mascara! I got this a little while back and somehow forgot about this as I have a ridiculous amount of mascaras. However I found this in one of my make up bags in the beginning of the month and have been using it a lot as it defines my lashes so well!

IMG_1123

And now we’ve already come to an end. Which products have you been liking/using the most in November?

Contouring on a Budget

Over the past few months contouring seems to have gained quite the popularity and more and more brands are coming out with a bronzer and highlighter combination, made just for contouring. Although I don’t really go all out when it comes to contouring, I do like to use a bit of bronzer and highlighter to define my cheekbones and sometimes I’ll add a bit of  bronzer to my temples. I guess you could say I’m sticking to the basics but I just don’t feel the need to use tons of make up to reshape my entire face and I’m definitely too lazy as well. But to each their own, right?

IMG_1012

However, I’ve tried a few bronzer, highlighter and combinations during the past few months and here are my favorite high street ones because I’m a student on a budget. I feel like all of these make a great and most importantly cheap alternative to the high end options or if you’re just starting to dip your toe into the deep ocean that is contouring and you are looking for somewhere to start.

IMG_1014IMG_1016

Kiko Golden Game Sculpting Bronzer

First up is this lovely combination, which is the priciest option, but it does come with two different bronzer shades and a gorgeous highlight. I really like the fact that this offer you a lighter and a darker bronzing shade because this way you can use either of them or just mix them both. On some days I use the darker shade for contouring and the lighter shade for bronzing and on others I just mix the two of them up. I feel like this is such a great product, which doesn’t just look incredibly gorgeous, but it but works beautifully as well. The two bronzing shades are not overly pigmented and really matte, which means it’s okay if you don’t have a light hand, you won’t end up with just two brown streaks either way. The highlighter shade just adds such a soft, subtle and warm glow to your skin, I’ve really been obsessing over it. All of the shades blend like a dream! What more could you want?

IMG_1018IMG_1020IMG_1019

Bourjois Delice de Poudre Duo

One thing I adore about this little duo is the look of it. It looks just like chocolate and it smells divine. Now, I can’t quite figure out what it smells like but it smells so so so good! Obviously this isn’t that important because what are you gonna do with a bronzer that smells great but sucks otherwise, but it definitely adds a little plus. Even though this probably looks a lot a like the Kiko one to anyone, that’s not really into makeup, for me the two differ quite a lot. The Bourjois bronzing shade isn’t entirely matte unlike the Kiko bronzer. While the Bourjois one is definitely more on the matte side it does contain some golden glitter particles and is a bit more pigmented than the Kiko one. It does blend perfectly as well, as long as you don’t use too much product. If you look at the two highlights they seriously couldn’t be any more different though. I would describe the Kiko highlight as a light shimmery champagne colored shade, that contains a lot of golden glitter particles. In contrast, the Bourjois one is definitely darker and more of a matte rose gold highlight. Both are beautiful and I guess it all depends on your preferences.

IMG_1022IMG_1024

Makeup Revolution The One Blush Stick

Makeup Revolution came out with a line of blush sticks, which consists of 4 different shades, and each is available in a matte and a sheer version. I’ve gone for the matte version of Malibu for contouring and the sheer version of dream, which makes an excellent highlighter. The great thing about these is that they are really travel friendly as the packaging is quite handy and you won’t need a brush to apply these. I just use my finger to dot ht product on where I want to have it and then I blend everything out. Simple as that! These are really great for when you’re in a rush but still want to add a bit of definition to your face!

I can definitely recommend all three of these options but they all differ quite a bit, so it really does depend on your preferences. All three are really easy to use, travel friendly and budget friendly. Though I can’t really pick a favorite the Kiko one is the one I use the most because in general I often prefer a powder to cream and I like that it offers me two different bronzing shades.
