Mac Favorites I Collab with Molly Isabel

Hey Lovelies,

today I’m collaborating on a blog post with the lovely Molly Isabel from mollyisabelsmith.blogspot.co.uk. One of my favorite parts about the blogging world is the community and getting to talk to and work with other bloggers. Since Molly and I both love Mac Cosmetics we decided to tell you all about our favorite Mac products! So let’s get right into it.

IMG_8587

Basics

Let’s start off with the basic face products you need for a flawless complexion. I haven’t tried too many of Mac’s foundation to be honest but I do love the Studio Fix Fluid, which seems to be an old favorite of many people. I personally prefer a full coverage foundation and this definitely has great coverage without feeling too heavy on my skin, which is a massive plus for me! This foundation has never disappointed me, so on days when I need my foundation to look flawless and last this one is always a safe bet.

My absolute favorite concealer ever is by far Mac’s Pro Longwear concealer! It covers everything you would ever want to cover, it lasts, it lets any dark circles disappear and most importantly it does not crease! What more could I want from a concealer?

Lastly the Mac Mineralize Skinfinish is one of my all time favorite products and that says a lot because I have accumulated quite the makeup collection. This was my first ever Mac product and my first ever more high end makeup product. I’ve raved about this powder so many times I don’t think I have to say more.

IMG_8591

Cheeks

My favorite Mac blush is Well Dressed, which is the perfect dusty rose matte blush! I love this for days when I want a really natural makeup look because this adds just the tiniest pop of color to my very fair complexion.

Mac’s Soft & Gentle is quite known in the beauty world and many people rave about this product. I think this one is definitely worth the hype! It’s my favorite highlighter by far and I use it almost daily. I’m already on my second one and as you can see it’s quite used up already.

IMG_8589

Lips

Mac is probably most known for their lipsticks, which I currently own 23 of, so you can imagine it was pretty hard for me to just pick a few favorites as I do love them all very dearly. Yes, I’m definitely a lipstick addict. However, if I could only pick three and had to get rid of the others I would keep Velvet Teddy, Persistence and Sin.

Velvet Teddy is the perfect nude lipstick in my eyes because it’s more brown based and darker, which suits me a lo better than peachy or very pale nudes. Persistence is similar to Velvet Teddy but slightly darker.

I absolutely love dark lipsticks. Especially a dark red so Sin is one of my all time favorite lipsticks ever!

IMG_8594

Eyes

I’ve only started building up a Mac eyeshadow palette fairly recently but I still do have some favorite eyeshadow. My first favorite is Mac Shroom, which was my first ever Mac eyeshadow and is also my most used one. Next up is Tempted which is a gorgeous bronzy shade, which I got about 2 years ago and still obsess over from time to time. Lastly Satin Taupe is one of my newest eyeshadows, which I only got very recently but it’s such a stunning color I know it will become a staple piece in my collection.

So here you have my Mac favorites. It was pretty hard to narrow it down to a few because I love so many of their products but these are by far my most used ones.

Make sure to go check out Molly’s favorites now!

Love,

Sophie

Mac’s Impassioned – One For The Brave

It seems as if summer is finally well and truly here as we’ve had some lovely weather over here and according to my iPhone it’s supposed to stay that way. I only have one exam left to take before I head off to Spain in a few days, so it’s really starting to feel like actual summer to me. Now we all change the clothes we wear in regards to seasons and I tend to do the same with my lipsticks. There are definitely some I wear all year around but others only come out a certain time of the year.

IMG_0215

One of my absolute favorites for summer is Mac’s Impassioned. I think it’s one of the most gorgeous lipsticks I own, however, I’m also aware that this one is not quite for everyone. Impassioned is just the most bright, vibrant, loud almost neon like pink. Now I’m really into bold and unique colors but if you barely stray away from neutrals this is definitely not the one for you.

I absolutely adore Impassioned because I find it to be such a fun color. But it is a very in your face kind of pink and it definitely almost seems to scream ‘Look at me!’ Nonetheless this is one of my favorites for summer because if you can’t wear such a fun color in summer, when can you? Besides it just remind me of sunshine and the ocean and watermelon for some reason.

IMG_0226

Impassioned comes in an Amplified formula so it is incredibly pigmented. But it also feels quite nice on the lips at it is relatively creamy and not drying at all. I definitely tend to wear a lot less make up in summer and one of my favorite looks is a really simply eye make up so maybe either just mascara or mascara and a little bit of eyeshadow (usually and bronzy shade) paired with a really bright and fun lip color. Obviously Impassioned is perfect for that. I feel like it’s one of those lipsticks that really kind of brighten up my complexion and really add to that summer vibe.

So if you’re into pink or just fun and vibrant colors and don’t shy away from bold lipsticks you need this in your life! Seriously need this! As always I have some swatches for you and I took some pictures (sorry they’re not the best!) of how it looks on my lips. But do bare in mind that the pictures don’t completely give justice to the color because it’s even brighter and louder in real life. Oh and please don’t mind my weirdly colored arm because my fake tan is peeling off and I know I really need to take care of sorting this out.

IMG_0222    IMG_0238IMG_0236

So this is today’s post on one of my favorite lipsticks for summer!

What are some of yours? Are you into bold colors and do you play it safe and stick to your neutrals?

Much love and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Mac’s Sushi Kiss

Hey lovelies,

as you all probably know by now I’m massively obsessed with lipsticks and especially Mac ones. Thanks to my amazing grandma I could welcome another member to the family a few days back: it’s Mac Sushi Kiss, which has been on my wish list for quite some time.

IMG_6897

Sushi kiss is a very pale but bright orange that comes in a Satin formula, so it’s more of a semi-matte finish.. Nearly a year ago I bought my first ever orange lipstick, which was Mac Morange. Morange is one of my favorite summer lipsticks, which I love to use to brighten up a more simple outfit. However, when I saw Sushi Kiss somewhere online I right away fell for the shade because it’s very orange as well but it’s a very light almost pastel shade of orange, even though it looks very bright in these pictures. I just think it’s a very unique shade and so stunning over the summer month. And obviously I LOVE the name. It’s so freaking cute.

IMG_6901

The lipstick itself applies very evenly and glides on very smoothly, however, I’ve noticed that it can emphasize any dry patches you may have, so just make sure to moisturize your lips very well and you should by fine. When it comes to lasting power this one will definitely last you for a few good hours and the best thing is that it fades away evenly until it only leaves a stain. If you find this color to be a bit bright and intimidating when fully applied it looks really nice as just a stain.

So to conclude I’m so happy with this shade. Not only am I in love with the adorable name but I think Sushi Kiss is such a fun and vibrant color, that is perfect for the summer months if you are someone who doesn’t shy away from loud colors!

What are your favorite Mac lippies for summer?

Much love,

Sophie

Mac Hot Gossip

Hey you beauties,

let’s welcome the newest family member to my Mac lipstick collection . It’s a beauty, ain’t it? Lately I’ve developed a bit of an obsession with mauve lipsticks. Since I’m a blonde I tend not to wear crazy bright pinks too often because even though they suit me quite well I don’t want to look like a barbie doll and unfortunately people are so quick to label you. Anyway.. totally getting off topic here. I love mauve toned lipsticks because to me they are the perfect neutral pink nude shade you can wear every day. It goes with a lot of make up looks, so when I came across Hot Gossip I just couldn’t help myself and had to get it.

IMG_3713

Hot Gossip is in a Cremesheen finish, which I quite like because it feels very moisturizing on my lips and since mine tend to dry out that’s always a plus for me. Now the color is just a dusty pink mauve shade, which is absolutely gorgeous. I think it’s such a flattering shade and I’m head over heels for it. I think I’ve worn this almost every day since the delivery man brought it to my house and I know I’m going to get so much use out of this lipstick.

IMG_3716

I think it’s a shade you can wear all year around and it really does go with so many looks, especially rather neutral ones. Since I’m more of a neutral girl by day this is such a perfect shade for me. The only downside I have with this lipstick is that it doesn’t last as long as some of my other Mac lipsticks. But I mostly go for mattes and they definitely tend to last longer on my lips than more creamy formulas. It still lasts a good deal but I don’t mind having to reapply one in a while. And at least it fades away evenly and doesn’t leave your lips looking like a mess, which is always a no no for me.

IMG_3720IMG_3719

FullSizeRender

Basically as you can already guess from my review I’m very happy with this shade and I’n glad I decided to go for it. I love how neutral it is and I think it’s quite a flattering shade for my complexion. If you’re looking for more of a mauve/dusty pink shade you can wear every day and which is easy to pull off go I’d totally recommend this.

My favorite (Make Up Related) Christmas Present

Unfortunately it’s now safe to say that Christmas is well and truly over and New Years Eve is coming up soon. I’ve had a very lovely Christmas but now I’m excited to get back into blogging on a regular basis again. I, personally, genuinely enjoy reading the ‘What I got for Christmas’ posts but they are quite controversial and I definitely understand why. Hence, I decided not to do one but to instead just share my favorite make up item I got for Christmas. In general I got some lovely bits for Christmas but I mainly got money because I’m leaving for London tonight, where I’ll be staying until Friday, so my main wish for Christmas this year was some money, so I can buy lots of make up and other cool things over there.

IMG_1874

But now back to my favorite present, which I actually got from my brother. One of my favorite make up brands has always been Mac. Mac was the first make up brand I ever really fell for, so I consider it to be kind of my first love (make up wise obviously). Each year Mac brings out the most gorgeous holiday collections and one thing I really wished for this year was a set of their pigments and my lovely brother surprised me with one!

I have to admit the first thing that caught my eye was the stunning packaging! I mean, just look at it! It’s so festive and sparkly and just absolutely beautiful! But the pigments themselves are just as beautiful and definitely don’t disappoint. I got the set that includes a mixture of beige and brown pigments as well as some gold glitter.

IMG_1875IMG_1880

This was actually the one set I had my eyes one, so I was more than happy to unwrap this beauty under the Christmas tree. All of the shades included in this set (except for maybe the gold glitter which I will only use for special occasions) are perfect if you just want to sparkle up your every day make up as all shades, except for the brown one, are very shimmery. The brown shade is a dark matte one but can you ever go wrong with a matte dark brown shade? I don’t think so as it’s the perfect shade to use in your crease to add some definition to your eyes.

As you can tell I’m very much in love with this set and all of the pigments. I tried to take some pictures of the swatches but unfortunately my iPhone can’t do them justice. They are way more beautiful in reality!

IMG_1881IMG_1883

As a little side not all of the fur items in this post are faux fur!

What is your favorite gift you received for Christmas this year?

#TBT: My First Ever Mac Lipstick

My TBT post last week got quite a lot of views, so I decided to to another #throwbackthursday post. This time it is all about my first ever Mac lipstick. I’m a total lip product addict. Lip products are probably my most bought makeup item, to be honest. I have a bit of an obsession. However, if I could only buy lipsticks from one brand for the rest of my life I would chose Mac without a doubt. I know other brand make amazing and beautiful lipsticks as well and as affordable or luxurious or pretty some of them may be nothing can beat my beloved Mac lipsticks. I just feel like they have the longest lasting power, they have an incredible range of shades and let’s not even talk about pigmentation.

IMG_0917 IMG_1260

That being sad, let me introduce you to my first ever Mac lipstick. I bought this one when I was around 14/15, I think, and when I got it it was like the coolest thing ever. My first Mac lippie was actually the Viva Glam Lady Gaga lipstick. So back then I really loved Lady Gaga. I thought she was so different and interesting and I loved how every thing she did always looked so artsy. Additionally I was in, well,  let’s say, kind of a pink phase. Pink was my favorite color back then and I had everything pink, so obviously this lipstick was very appealing to me because it was pink and it said Lady Gaga on it. I was sold!

IMG_0919

If I had to describe the shade I think it’s the most perfect Barbie pink or Bubblegum pink. Back then I used to wear it all the time. I was obsessed with the color and the lipstick was quite creamy and felt so moisturizing. I was my first lipstick that was more on the pricier said, so I was beyond excited to own it. I was in love.

Now, I have to admit I haven’t worn this lipstick in at least 3 years because I most definitely grew out of my pink phase. Pink, especially that shade, is not really my favorite color anymore and I don’t like wearing this lipstick as much as I used to because it is such a Barbie pink and though it does go well with my blonde hair and fair skin I’m not really a fan of the barbie look anymore. When I was 15 I thought it was awesome but nowadays… not so much anymore.  I still like really light nude pinks but just not the bright bubble gum in your face kind of pink.

Nevertheless I still kept it because it was my first ever Mac lipstick and it brought me lots of joy when I was a bit younger. I just can’t bring myself to throw it away.

What was your first Mac lipstick? Do you still have it?

The Best Things About Fall (in my opinion)

So October is really here and fall has now officially begun! It’s just crazy how fast time is flying by. It feels like I just returned from my summer vacation yesterday but now it’s already October and my first midterms are coming up. Crazy times.

If you would ask me what my favorite season is I couldn’t really give you a concrete answer because I feel like there are great things about any season and I can’t ever decide. When it’s cold and winter I want it to be warm and summer and when it’s warm and summer I’m wishing for cold winter, so I can wear my favorite knitted sweaters. Anybody else got that problem or am I just weird like that?

Anyway… I absolutely adore fall. I have some of the best fall childhood memories, which is why I’ll probably always be excited about fall. In today’s post I’ll be sharing my favorite things about fall with you guys as you might’ve been able to guess from the title. Well, here we go!

Hot Chocolate with Marshallows

I’m not the biggest person on hot drinks. I stopped drinking coffee a while ago and the only tea I really enjoy is green tea. But I love me some hot chocolate and especially with marshmallows. It is just such a delicious treat. When it’s really cold outside and you come home and make yourself some hot chocolate and cuddle up with your favorite blanket to watch a good movie… perfection!

SAMSUNG CSC

Knitted Sweaters

Knitted sweaters are an obsession of mine. I keep buying new ones every year as soon as the weather’s slightly cooling down. They are just so cozy and warm and comfy and perfect. How can you not love them?

SAMSUNG CSC

Halloween

I love horror movies. I don’t know why because I get scared so freaking easily. My brother loves to jump up behind me and scare me to death all the time but I still am obsessed with horror movies. I even watch them by myself. Like literally completely alone and in the dark! Insane, I know! So  I guess it comes as no surprise, that  I love Halloween. I don’t know why but I find the whole spooky thing just so fascinating.

Crafting

When I was younger my mom would always do so much crafting with my brother and me. Since the weather got colder and we couldn’t play outside as much anymore we would make hot chocolate, get some cookies out and sit around our big kitchen table, making our own DIY fall decoration for the house or just anything crafty and artsy really. I’m not the most talented, when it comes to crafting but I had the time of my life anyway. I wish we’d still do that! Maybe I should suggest it but nowadays my brother’s caught up with school and I have lots to do with University classes.

The Nature

I just love how the leaves changes colors. In general I just love fall colors. The pretty dark reds and green and orange. It’s just so nice to get my dog and go for a walk through the forrest. Everything just looks so pretty.

Dark Lips

Last but absolutely not least I love dark lips. Being obsessed with make up I just love wearing my dark reds and purple lipstick during fall and winter season. I just like they way the look with my pretty pale skin.

So these are my favorite things about fall! Are you excited it’s finally fall? What are your favorite things about this season?

A Lip Combo I’ve been Loving

It’s Monday! Most people I know dread Mondays including me. It’s just hard to go back to the serious life after a fun and relaxing weekend. Even though I’m still at home for another week to recover from my hospital incident I definitely feel along with those who have to go back to work, uni or school.

Since it’s Monday I thought I’d share one of my tips with you to be motivated and to get through Monday. One thing that always helps me is to doll myself up a little and here’s a pretty lip combo I’ve been loving lately, that is just perfect for every day.

IMG_4178

IMG_4890

These are the two products I’ve loved mixing lately. First I apply one of my favorite nude lipsticks: the Maybelline Color Sensational 725 in Tantalizing Taupe. If you ever get one nude lipstick from the drugstore this is the one I would recommend. The shade is just perfect, it’s so creamy and moisturizing, which makes it a dream to apply and it lasts a fair share of time.

Next I apply a bit of my Mac Dreamy lipgloss. I’m usually not too much into lip glosses but this one is an absolute dream. It’s a gorgeous super light pink gloss, that gives your lips a pretty shimmer without being too pink. Plus it’s not sticky and let’s be real sticky glosses are the worst. I hate when my hair gets caught up in those. Luckily this gloss is super moisturising as well and not sticky at all.

What I like about this combo is that the lipstick adds volume to my lips while the gloss gives them a natural shimmer. It’s the perfect combo for every day whether for work, school or uni.

Hope you like this!

Back To School Lips

SAMSUNG CSC

Hey lovelies!

Guess what? I’m finally home again! I was released from the hospital today. Although I’m still processing what happened and I’m not entirely myself again I’m definitely on the road to recovery. Well, what better way to try and get my old self back than to just blog, right? Most of you guys are probably back to school or uni now. Uni would have started on Monday for me but I’m not entirely sure when I will be able to attend classes again.

Anyway… I’m a total lip product addict. It’s just my obsession. Now I’ve featured a lot of bold lip colors on my blog but when I go to uni I tend to stay  more on the natural side. I usually just have one lecture or seminar a day, so I just don’t feel the need to wear some crazy lip color and if I’m being honest I’m to lazy to put in that extra effort. Hence I like to wear more neutral shades. So today I’m showing you three of my favorite high end and three of my favorite high street lip products I love for school/uni.

SAMSUNG CSC

SAMSUNG CSC

First up are two glosses. Yes, you’ve read that right. I’m actually including lip glosses in this post. In general I’m definitely more of a lipstick girl but these two glosses are amazing. Neither of them are sticky which is just a huge plus!

Mac Dreamy

Mac Dreamy is a gloss I’ve had for quite a while now. It’s a beautiful sheer light pink. It looks really natural on the lips but it does add a little shimmer. As the name already says it’s really just dreamy. It’s perfect for any natural look.

NYX Butter Gloss in Maple Blondie

Even though I’m usually not big on glosses I LOVE the NYX Butter Glosses. They aren’t sticky, last quite a while and the color range is gorgeous. They apply as smooth as butter and are so moisturizing on the lips. One of my favorite shades is Maple Blondie. It’s more of a bright peachy but sheer pink gloss, which makes it a great nude for me. Just love it!

SAMSUNG CSC SAMSUNG CSC

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait

The Revlon Lip Butters are another line of lip products I just love. I seriously wish I’d have all of them but one of my favorites from the line is Peach Parfait. It’s this gorgeous peachy shade. It’s just so perfect for an every day make up because it does add some color without being too much.

Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick Bronze Goddess

This one is without a doubt one of my favorite nude lipsticks. It’s quite sheer but the color is definitely buildable. It’s quite shimmery, so if you prefer a matte finish this isn’t for you.

SAMSUNG CSC

SAMSUNG CSC

Michael Kors Lip Laquer in Diva

Here’s another peachy nude. I think almost all of my nude lipsticks are peachy because I’m so pale. Peachy nudes don’t make me look white as a wall or dead as a ghost. This one has light to medium coverage and is quite sheer as well.

Mac Shy Girl

This might be my ultimate nude lipstick. It’s another peachy one and it’s really nicely pigmented. It lasts incredibly long. It’s beautiful. It’s perfection. If you’re pale like me and you’re looking for a really good nude lippie, that doesn’t make you look even whiter this is the one. And it’s great for every occasion whether it’s school, uni, work or shopping.

Well, this is it. These are my favorite lip products for school/uni. Whenever I feel like smacking on some gloss/ lipstick but don’t want to bother with the effort bold lip colors take these are the ones I reach for the most.

Hope you enjoyed this post.

July Favorites

Can you believe? Another month has already gone by. It feels like 2014 is flying by. Okay, 2014! You need to slow down a bit. It’s Christmas in 5 months, people! 5 freaking months! Wasn’t it just Christmas yesterday?

Well, July has come to an end meaning it’s time for a July favourites posts, so here’s what I’ve been loving this month.

SAMSUNG CSC

Let’s start with skin care because I’ve been making a few minor changes in my skin care routine this month. I used to mainly use products from the Body Shop Tea Tree range because my skin hasn’t been looking it’s best throughout the month of June but because it improved a lot towards the end of it I decided to switch to the Aloe range by the Body Shop because it’s especially made for sensitive skin and since my skin is pretty sensitive I wanted to give it a go. I’ve actually already tried out the face mask I’m featuring in this post before and I have  written a review about it but I’ve been using it so much this month it was only fitting to include it in here. Because I enjoyed using this face mask so much I decided to try their gentle face wash and I can tell you it did not let me down. Definitely one of my favorites this month! I’ve used it every day.

SAMSUNG CSC

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 15

This might be my new favorite concealer. I bought this in the very end of June and have pretty much used it every day since. Need I say more?

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation 2N1 Desert Beige

I’ve included this lovely foundation in a haul post in the very beginning of July. Probably somewhere around the 3rd or 4th. I’ve heard a lot of bloggers rave about this foundation, which made me very curious to try it, so when it was 30% off at a local make up store near my parent’s house I used the opportunity to finally give it a go. I’ve used it a lot this month because it gives amazing coverage but still feels nice on the skin. It’s so long-lasting and makes my skin look incredible. I can definitely say I’m glad I gave in and got it.

SAMSUNG CSC

Rimmel London 930 Bronze Goddess

I know I’ve only just written a review about this yesterday and now it’s being featured again in my monthly favorites but I’ve used this a lot in July, so it gets a well deserved place in this post. If you want a full review of this gorgeous lipstick check out my last post.

Lush Mint Julips Lip Scrub

I’m a lipstick lover but even the most stunning lipstick looks bad on dry lips, which is why lip care is so important. This is my absolute favorite lip scrub because it’s mint flavored. I’m a huge fan of all things mint. I love the smell of mint, I love the flavor, the taste of it and I love love love the color mint green. See why I love this so much? It’s smells amazing and makes my lips so incredibly soft.

SAMSUNG CSC

The Body Shop Honey Bronzer in 01

Yes, I know. I’ve included this post in my April or May favorites already, I believe, but it’s the only bronzer I like. I’ve tried others but they tend to be too dark for me and make me look all muddy and just not good. With this bronzer I’ve finally found one that does exactly what it’s supposed to.

Mac Minerlaize Skinfinish Soft &Gentle

This might be one of my favorite products of all time. It’s so freaking beautiful! I got this a while ago and I seriously can’t believe I haven’t used it more. It’s just so pretty. It’s definitely my new favorite highlighter whether I want to add some shimmer to my cheekbones or my brow bones it looks amazing on both. It’s a little pricey, but so worth the money. Plus it’s gonna go a long way.

SAMSUNG CSC

Rimmel London 60 Seconds 220 Sage All The Rage

I have to admit this isn’t the most fitting color for summer but somehow I really liked it and decided to paint my toe nails this color in mid July and kept it on there for the rest of July. It’s kind of a muddy green but I think it looks great with a white dress or black and gold sandals. I don’t even know why.

The Body Shop White Musk Libertine Solid Perfume

I’ve seen these little guys every time I went into a Body Shop store (which is quite often) and every single time I thought about getting one. I’ve never tried solid perfume before but it sounded really interesting and I adore the heart shaped packaging. One day in early July I picked one up and I’ve almost used it every single day since. This smells incredible and because it’s so tiny it fits in every purse, so you can carry it with you wherever go. Pretty darn amazing, right?

Essence Get Big! Lashes Mascara

Another product I’ve just very recently written a review about. Although this isn’t one of my top mascaras I think it’s perfect for every day use as it is so affordable and gives you long well defined lashes without being too dramatic.

SAMSUNG CSC

Alright! These are all the products I’ve been loving this month. Actually not all of them. There have been a lot more but these are definitely the ones I’ve used the most.

Which products have you been loving most this month?

Sophie
