My Top 3 Foundations (High End)

IMG_6251

Whenever I do my make up, probably the most important thing to me is for my skin to look good. Picture perfect skin is definitely the one thing that gives me the most confidence, even more than my beloved bold colored lipsticks. I think I’ve mentioned this a few times before but all throughout high school I had pretty much perfectly clear skin and never really wore foundation. Most days I would just apply a tinted moisturiser or a BB cream and set that with my holy grail powder, Mac’s Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. However, when I started University my skin went a little crazy and along with some good skin care products my search for that holy grail foundation began. Throughout the searching process I’ve definitely become a tad obsessed with trying new foundations and I always love to try out new ones, especially because I’m also quite picky when it comes to my foundations.

After searching the drugstore high and low I couldn’t find one product that satisfied me enough. I’m very fair skinned and on top of that my skin is also quite sensitive. Eventually I ventured on to high end foundations and I’ve now narrowed it down to 3 foundations, that I absolutely love and use on a regular basis, so let me introduce them to you.

SAMSUNG CSC

Estee Lauder Double Wear

This was the first high end foundation I’ve ever tried as it’s quite hyped up and I was curious to see what all the fuss was about. Luckily it turned out to be a hit for me. If you need your skin to look absolutely flawless this is the one to go for as it has such a high coverage it will cover up absolutely anything. It’s quite a thick foundation and it can be a bit drying at times, which is why I don’t use it for every day. It definitely has a matte finish but it’s not as natural, which is why I only wear this on special occasions.

SAMSUNG CSC

Dior Star

I actually never intended on buying this to be honest. Thank God though I did because it’s one of my favorite foundations I’ve ever tried. Originally I went to my local make up store to purchase the YSL Fusion Ink foundation as it had just come out and everyone was raving about it. I couldn’t really find a shade that was a perfect match, so the lovely lady working there tried a few different foundations and the one that matched me the best was the Dior Star one. It literally looked just like my skin. This is my every day foundation as it gives me such a natural look. The coverage is more medium but you can definitely build it up to high coverage. What I love the most about this foundation is how healthy and glowy it makes my skin look and how moisturizing it feels. I find the finish of this a bit hard to describe because it’s not dewy but it’s not matte either. It really just leaves your skin looking fresh and healthy and gives you this glow from within kind of look.

Mac Studio Fix Fluid

As you might have noticed I just love Mac. They’re the first more high end brand I’ve ever tried and fell for, so it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t include one of their foundations. Now I haven’t actually tried many of their foundations but I do love my Studio Fix Fluid. I know a lot of people recommend this foundation and I definitely would as well. I have the shade NW10 and it is the perfect match! This has a high coverage like the Estee Laude Double wear and gives you a matte finish without drying out your skin, while it still somehow manages to look natural. I always change things up between my Dior Star and this one but I’m currently wearing this one every day as I just ordered a new bottle because sadly I had run out of my last one.

I love all three of these foundations equally and for different reasons, so I couldn’t pick my absolute favorite. However, if I had to recommend  just one I would probably recommend the Mac Studio Fix Fluid because it’s the most affordable one but still delivers just as well as the other two. I personally love the high coverage this one provides while still making my skin look natural. If you’re interested in my skin type it’s definitely normal and tends to be drying sometimes, especially in the colder months.

What’s your favorite foundation? Anything I NEED to try?

Diorskin Star Foundation – New Holy Grail?!

SAM_5457

Hey lovelies,

today I’m giving you a review on the lovely Diorskin Star foundation. I’ve been trying this amazing stuff for the past 2 weeks already and I’m so excited to share my thoughts on it with you guys.

One thing, that is probably the most important thing for me, when it comes to doing my makeup is  having that look of a flawless skin. I don’t always need dramatic eye makeup or a bold lip but one thing I always strive for is a flawless base. It just gives me such a confidence boost. Now my skin isn’t incredibly awful looking, however, I just feel so much better covering up some little flaws because let’s face it: we all have them.

When I try a foundation, I expect it to even out my skin tone and cover up some flaws. I want it to feel light on my skin and most importantly I want it to match my skin tone and I often have trouble with this part because I’m so pale and most Ivory shades aren’t really Ivory. But this little beauty does all of those things and is a perfect match. I’m in the shade 010-Ivory and it’s actually just perfect. When I apply this on my face it looks just like my skin only about 10 times better. You seriously wouldn’t be able to tell, that I was wearing any foundation because it melts into my skin and blends so perfectly.

Another plus is the formula. It’s incredibly light and feels really hydrating. Especially if you’re more on the dry side, like me, you should give this ago. It’s not drying at all, doesn’t get cakey and just looks incredibly natural. Additionally this foundation uses a formula that doesn’t clog up your pores “A new generation of hollow silica beads captures and diffuses light in a correcting halo with no shine. At the same time, colour-filter pigments neutralize colour imbalances to recreate the perfect light.” Through this new formula your skin can actually improve, because it covers anything you want to cover without blocking it or clogging anything up.

Now to another important part: the finish. It’s actually a bit tricky to describe the finish this foundation leaves. It’s definitely not matte but it’s not dewey either. It’s somewhere in between and it gives you that glow form within kind of looks. It just gives your skin a healthy, natural and illuminating look. There’s not other way to describe it really.

I know this almost sounds like a love letter but I’m honestly beyond impressed with this foundation. I’m so picky when it comes to my foundations. Most of them are either not my exact skin tone, so it takes a lot of effort to blend it all well or they are too drying or feel too heavy or don’t last long enough. I usually always find something I dislike butI haven’t found anything, that I don’t like about this foundation yet.  My skin has never looked this good and healthy, and stayed that way all day, and I’ve tried so many foundations already.

I wouldn’t say it’s my new holy grail just yet because I’m on my first bottle and it’s still very new but I think there’s a good chance it might become one though.

Have you tried this foundation? What were your thoughts?

Pretty In Pink

Hey lovelies! Though I usually prefer a more nude look I do like to add some color and sport a bright lip during the day every once in a while. Today I want to show you my how to rock that bright pink lipstick during the day. With Valentine’s day coming up I thought this would also be a cute look if you like to keep it on the low make-up wise. The lipstick I’m using in this tutorial is one of my favourites because it is a pretty bright color but not too strongly pigmented and very glossy, which is why I think it’s a good lipstick for an everyday look.

1. Start of with foundation.                                         2. Apply light pink pigments on your eyelids.

3.  Apply light eyeshadow along your brow bone for highlighting.

4. Apply a taupe eyeshadow along your eyelid fold, outer V and the waterline to bring definition to your eye.

5. Time for mascara! I’m using the Big Eyes mascara by Maybelline. I like to use this one because it has one brush for the upper lashes and one for the lower lashes.

6. Apply a light pink blush.                                          7. Finish of the look with your favorite pink lipstick

Super Stay Better Skin Foundation by Maybelline Review

IMG_2313

IMG_2383

As mentioned in one of my blog posts last week, I’ve bought the Super Stay Better Skin foundation due to its advertisement and because I’ve been looking for a new cheaper foundation. My skin is really light, which sometimes makes it pretty difficult to find a good drugstore foundation for me. Most of them just make my skin look orange and I definitely don’t want that. When I saw the commercials for this foundation I decided to just give it a go and try it because I’ve been loving a lot of Mayblline’s products lately.

Now for me, personally, a good foundation needs to fulfil 3 criteria:

1. Create an even teint.

2. Cover up any imperfections.

3. Last all day.

The Super Stay Better Skin foundation promises that it does not only provide your skin with a good coverage, that will make your skin look healthy and flawless while lasting up to 13 hours. No, it also claims that it will perfect your skin within three weeks of usage.  I’m not too sure whether it will actually improve your skin although it does contain a few skin care ingredients such as Copper, Magnesium, Vitamin B and Zinc.

I’ve been trying it out for about a week now and I can say that I definitely like it. The texture is not too runny, which makes it easy to apply the foundation evenly on my skin. Due to a hydration formula it also makes my skin feel really refreshed and soft. Almost as if I’d just applied moisturiser. It covers up my skin really well although I have to say, that I already have pretty clear skin so I don’t know how the coverage is for someone with a lot of imperfections. I also love that it feels so light on my skin. Some foundations feel so heavy and make my skin itchy and red because I have rather sensitive skin but this foundation does not do that at all. I wouldn’t say that it lasts 13 hours but definitely around 10, which is enough for me because I usually don’t wear make up for more than 13 hours straight anyway.

I would definitely recommend this product if you’re looking for a cheap alternative for your everyday foundation. For me it does the job because it fulfils all of my criterias. It covers up my imperfections, creates an even look on my skin and it lasts really long. Apart from that it feels very good on my skin. I don’t know how this product works if you have really oily or really dry skin. Everyone’s skin is different but for me it totally does the job.

So again if you have normal skin that is not too oily or too dry and you’re looking for a rather cheap foundation for everyday usage this is the one.

Have a lovely day! X

Another Random Beauty Haul

Hey there my fellow make-up lovers. Anyone seen the commercial for Maybelline’s new Super Stay Better Skin foundation? I have like a million times, so today I finally bought it. Of course once I was in the store I couldn’t just buy one thing and spend a little more than intended.

IMG_2313

This is it. Maybelline new Super Stay Better Skin foundation. Supposedly it gives you a flawless teint, that lasts all day. I know a lot of foundations promise this but what’s different about this one is, that apparently it also improves your skin within 3 weeks. That got me curious, so I’m gonna give it a try in the next few days and let you guys know what I think.

IMG_2315

Today I also found out that Maybelline has a new nude lipstick collection and since I love the nude look for my everyday make up I couldn’t help myself. I just had to get one. This is nr. 725 Tantalizing Taupe. I like this color because it’s not too light and not too dark. It’s got a rich texture and also adds a little shimmer to your lips. I think it’s one of my new fave lipsticks.

IMG_2319

I’m also a fan of the Maybelline Eyestudio eyeshadow palettes. The colors go together so perfectly and I really needed a new one for my everyday make up, so I decided to go with this one, because I love these earthly tones. It’s the nr. 2 Vivids Plum. I also love the size of these because they fit into every purse, so you can always carry them with you in case you need a touch up.

IMG_2320

The Big Eyes mascara and the Master Precise liquid eyeliner are re-purchases. I’ve bought them a while ago and I really liked them.Especially the eyeliner. I’m pretty sure this is my third already. It basically looks like a felt-tip and using it is as easy as drawing a line with a felt-tip. So it’s definitely a recommendation for all the girls that have problems with drawing the perfect line. I usually don’t run into trouble with drawing a line with my eyeliner because of years of practice but this one is great when I’m in a hurry and really have to rush.

IMG_2314

Last but not least I also purchased this adorable little mini hairspray. I have to admit I use A LOT of hairspray. It’s probably one of my most used beauty products, so now I can always carry one with me because it’s so tiny. I’m in love it.

That was it for today. Have a lovely day folks!:)
