I Heart Definition Palette in Fair Review

IMG_3241

I’ve written about a few contour products I’ve already tried  before and I keep trying out new ones. The I heart Make Up I Heart definition contour kit in fair is my most recent one and I’ve also given it a spot in my January favorites post because I’ve really been loving it. I got this when I was in the UK over New Years with my best friend and just had to pick it up when I saw that it was only 5 pounds.

I don’t do any heavy face sculpting but I love a bit of a contour just to emphasise my cheekbones and I have a bit of an obsession with highlighters to be honest. What I love the most about these little contour kits is that they contain a bronzer, a blush and a highlighter, which makes them perfect for when you’re on the go or want to take it with you for traveling. However, since I’m quite pale most of the bronzers are way way way too dark or orange for me and make me look all muddy instead of sun-kissed. Since this contour kit is especially intended for fair skin I was even more intrigued.

First let’s talk about the bronzer. When I first saw it and swatched it on my hand I found it to be relatively brown and was a bit worked whether it would suit me because I’ve realised that brown greyish bronzers like the NYX powder blush suit me the most as they look the most natural on my skin. Once applied and blended I was really surprised how good the bronzer looked. The consistency is quite buttery and soft, which makes it a dream to blend and I’ve been using it for contouring a lot lately.

Next up is the blush. I would describe the shade as a soft dusty old rose pink and it’s absolutely stunning. It’s the exact kind of blush I would go for, for a simple and fresh every day look. It really compliments my fair skin so nicely.

Last but not least let’s talk about the highlighter! As I’ve already mentioned I’m a total sucker for highlighters! I love how they transform my skin from dull to glowing healthy and radiant! Although this one cannot beat my favorite highlighter of all time, my very beloved Mac soft and gentle, it’s nonetheless as stunning highlighter. I would describe it as a shimmery rosy champagne shade.

If you’re looking for a new contour kit that’s compact and travel friendly or you’re just starting out with contouring and want to get a kit instead of having to buy each product separately I can definitely recommend this. All three products are great, especially if you consider how affordable this is.

Thank you for reading!

Love,

Contouring on a Budget

Over the past few months contouring seems to have gained quite the popularity and more and more brands are coming out with a bronzer and highlighter combination, made just for contouring. Although I don’t really go all out when it comes to contouring, I do like to use a bit of bronzer and highlighter to define my cheekbones and sometimes I’ll add a bit of  bronzer to my temples. I guess you could say I’m sticking to the basics but I just don’t feel the need to use tons of make up to reshape my entire face and I’m definitely too lazy as well. But to each their own, right?

However, I’ve tried a few bronzer, highlighter and combinations during the past few months and here are my favorite high street ones because I’m a student on a budget. I feel like all of these make a great and most importantly cheap alternative to the high end options or if you’re just starting to dip your toe into the deep ocean that is contouring and you are looking for somewhere to start.

Kiko Golden Game Sculpting Bronzer

First up is this lovely combination, which is the priciest option, but it does come with two different bronzer shades and a gorgeous highlight. I really like the fact that this offer you a lighter and a darker bronzing shade because this way you can use either of them or just mix them both. On some days I use the darker shade for contouring and the lighter shade for bronzing and on others I just mix the two of them up. I feel like this is such a great product, which doesn’t just look incredibly gorgeous, but it but works beautifully as well. The two bronzing shades are not overly pigmented and really matte, which means it’s okay if you don’t have a light hand, you won’t end up with just two brown streaks either way. The highlighter shade just adds such a soft, subtle and warm glow to your skin, I’ve really been obsessing over it. All of the shades blend like a dream! What more could you want?

Bourjois Delice de Poudre Duo

One thing I adore about this little duo is the look of it. It looks just like chocolate and it smells divine. Now, I can’t quite figure out what it smells like but it smells so so so good! Obviously this isn’t that important because what are you gonna do with a bronzer that smells great but sucks otherwise, but it definitely adds a little plus. Even though this probably looks a lot a like the Kiko one to anyone, that’s not really into makeup, for me the two differ quite a lot. The Bourjois bronzing shade isn’t entirely matte unlike the Kiko bronzer. While the Bourjois one is definitely more on the matte side it does contain some golden glitter particles and is a bit more pigmented than the Kiko one. It does blend perfectly as well, as long as you don’t use too much product. If you look at the two highlights they seriously couldn’t be any more different though. I would describe the Kiko highlight as a light shimmery champagne colored shade, that contains a lot of golden glitter particles. In contrast, the Bourjois one is definitely darker and more of a matte rose gold highlight. Both are beautiful and I guess it all depends on your preferences.

Makeup Revolution The One Blush Stick

Makeup Revolution came out with a line of blush sticks, which consists of 4 different shades, and each is available in a matte and a sheer version. I’ve gone for the matte version of Malibu for contouring and the sheer version of dream, which makes an excellent highlighter. The great thing about these is that they are really travel friendly as the packaging is quite handy and you won’t need a brush to apply these. I just use my finger to dot ht product on where I want to have it and then I blend everything out. Simple as that! These are really great for when you’re in a rush but still want to add a bit of definition to your face!

I can definitely recommend all three of these options but they all differ quite a bit, so it really does depend on your preferences. All three are really easy to use, travel friendly and budget friendly. Though I can’t really pick a favorite the Kiko one is the one I use the most because in general I often prefer a powder to cream and I like that it offers me two different bronzing shades.

Kiko Golden Game Sculpting Bronzer

As you might have seen in one of my recent haul posts, I bought the Kiko Golden Game Sculpting Bronzer in 01 radiant Honey. Having heard so many good things about this product I was really excited to try it.

First of all I really like the packaging. The sculpting powder comes in a rather chunky white packaging and when you open it up you get quite the big mirror. The product itself contains two bronzer shades, a lighter and a darker one, and a gorgeous highlighter.

The two bronzers aren’t insanely pigmented and you need a bit more of product to get the look you want, however, this might be quite handy if you are just starting out with contouring and you don’t want to over do it, because that can happen quite fast. I also really like how it comes with two different shades. You can either use the lighter one to add that bronzed glow and the darker one for contouring or, how I like to do it, you just swirl your brush through both of them and mix them up.

Now on to the highlighter. This really is a gorgeous one. It is quite glittery, so a little really goes a long way. All you need is a tiny bit and it will add a beautiful golden shimmery glow to your cheeks.

Considering the price I can definitely recommend this as you get two bronzing shades plus a beautiful highlighter. I’m quite pale, which made contouring quite hard for me at first but with this duo it’s so easy to do even when you are just starting out, because it’s very subtle and it takes a lot of product to really go overboard. Oh and have I managed the adorable packaging?

Have you tried this? What are your favorite products for contouring?
