Blushing Beauties

Hey guys,

how have you all been lately? I’m finally done with all of my exams for the most part, so I can get back to a more regular blogging schedule! I’m so excited! I can’t wait to write some more lifestyle posts now that I have the time but for now I’m back with another review of two beautiful Chanel blushes.

I’ve been using both of them for weeks now and totally in love although the are almost too beautiful to use. Do you ever have that problem when you buy a really nice make up item and it’s so pretty you don’t even want to use it but then you kind of spend a little fortune on it so it’s too expensive to just be sitting there on your vanity? I have this all the time because I just can’t say no to pretty make up. I know! It’s a problem! Anyway… these are actually my first Chanel blushes. So far I’ve only owned a view lip glosses and lipsticks and some eyeshadows but I never really looked much into their blushes because for high end blushes I love Nars and Mac and I think there are so amazing drugstore blushes out there like Milani. I love using blush and the way it really can make a difference to your face but I don’t go as crazy about them as I do with lipsticks and eyeshadows if that makes any sense.

When I saw Chanel’s spring collection and dissevered the Blush Camelia Rose blush it was love at first sight though. However, those blushes are quite expensive so I was head over heels when my brother got it for me for my birthday in March. The other blush I’m going to talk about is the number 170 Rose Glacier, which my Grandma so kindly got for me, so let’s get right to it.

Camelia Rose

I think it is pretty self-explanatory why this was love at first sight! Just look at this blush. It is probably one of the prettiest make up items I have ever seen and definitely the prettiest one in my collection. It’s so pretty that I barely even touched it for the first few weeks because I just thought it was too pretty to use and my brother was already getting a bit confused why I was never using it and thought I didn’t like it. But now on to the actual product. As the name already kind of suggests it’s a beautiful soft pink rose-colored like shade. As you can see from the picture the blush itself is made up out of two colors, a darker pink and a very light one. I usually swirl my brush through both colors and mix them together as the light one is so light it is more of a highlight then a blush. But if you use the tow colors together you get a beautiful cool-toned soft pink with a slight shimmer although this blush is definitely more on the matte side. I think the pigmentation is just right for this blush because it is more of a subtle color for a really natural look. Even though this is blush really does remind me of Spring it’s definitely one you can use all year around, whenever you’re going for a really soft and natural look but still want some rosy cheeks.

170 Rose Glacier

While visiting my Grandma in late April this year she took me shopping and obviously we ended up at a make up counter because my grandma knows me well. After lusting over all the beautiful products we ended up look at Chanel blushes and swatched a few. My grandma and I both loved Rose Glacier with my skin tone, so she bought it for me. I swear, she just spoils me way too much.

Okay, so Rose Glacier is an absolute little stunner. It actually reminds me a bit of Nars Orgasm because it has that same beautiful gold shimmer to it but while Orgasm is more of a peachy pink Rose Glacier is more of a cool-toned pink. Even though it is more cool-toned the golden shimmer in it adds warmth to the blush again and it really brightens up your complexion and gives you the most gorgeous rosy cheeks with a golden glow. When applying this I’d definitely recommend using a light hand thought because this blush is insanely well pigmented and you don’t want to end up with super bright pink cheeks. Or maybe you do but I definitely don’t!

As always I have some swatches for you. The first one on the left is Rose Galcier and the second one is Camelia Rose. You ca definitely see the pigmentation here but the swatch for Rose Glacier really does not do it justice because it has much more of a golden shimmer.

I’ve definitely been loving both blushes and am really glad that I have them in my collection and they really make me want to add some more Chanel blushes and not only because of their beautiful and luxurious packaging. Both blushes I’ve tried so far are just stunning shades with good pigmentation that are easy to blend and last well. What more could I want?

Do you own any Chanel blushes? What are your thoughts? Which shades would you recommend?

Much love,

Sophie

A Very Luxurious Bronzer

Today’s post is about a bronzer that is well known in the blogosphere and has been around for a while. Most people either tend to absolutely love it or really dislike it. I, for one. have been literally lusting after this for absolute ages but being a student on a budget I just couldn’t ever justify spending a little fortune on a bronzer even if it’s Chanel.

Since I passed all of my midterms and my mom got a discount she surprised me with the Soleil tan de Chanel in the beginning of December and hardly any make up item has ever made me so happy. This bronzer is just so luxurious and beautiful.

The packaging is so classic and typically Chanel. You can go ahead and make fun of me now(just like the rest of my family did) but I didn’t use this bronzer for a weeks after I got it. I just didn’t want to touch it and destroy its beauty. However, I did end up trying it out of course because firstly I’ve been dying to add this to my collection and secondly it’s to expensive to just be sitting there on my shelve looking all beautiful and perfect.

So was it worth waiting for this long? For me it definitely was. I’m more on the pale side and this bronzer really isn’t lying when it claims to match universally. I was definitely worried that it would be too dark on me and would make me look like I’d rubbed my face in mud instead of that sun-kissed look everyone wants to achieve but my worries were all for nothing. The texture is so velvety and creamy and though it’s easy to go a bit overboard with the bronzing as it’s so pigmented it real blends like a dream and melts in with the skin so nicely you can definitely correct it should you apply a bit too much.

This bronzer makes my skin look nicely bronzed in a really natural way. I mostly use this to just bronze my face but it also makes a great base for contouring.  Since it is a cream bronzer I was really curious on how long it would last but it last pretty much all day on me, so there’s no need for a touch up. The bronzer is insanely pigmented and I only need the tiniest bit of product, so I do believe that it’s going to last me a very very long time!

IMG_1169

Even though I love the packaging it’s definitely not very travel friendly. It’s quite huge and really chunky and takes away a lot of space in my make up bag as well as in my make up drawers. Apart from that I really love this bronzer!

Yes, it’s really pricey but it will give you the most natural fresh looking bronzed glow and it will probably last you forever. If you want to treat yourself to something luxurious or if you want to invest your money into a really good make up product which will last you and does exactly what it’s supposed to you might want to add this to your wish list.

I couldn’t be happier with my bronzer and should I ever run out of it (which I sure won’t in the near future) I’d definitely repurchase it.

Have you tried this bronzer? What is your favorite luxurious product in your make up collection?

Sophie

My Beauty Essentials for Every Day

Happy Saturday everyone!

So as I have mentioned in my last post I’m going on a 6 hour bus ride to London early tomorrow morning. Today I’m all busy with packing, which seems to be taking forever. I suck at packing because basically I want to bring half of my wardrobe but of course that wouldn’t fit into one suitcase and I already know I won’t even wear half of the things I pack but anyway… you need to be prepared for every situation, right?

Apart from clothes, make-up is quite important for me. I  don’t want to look all worn out when arriving in London or anywhere else so I always carry a little make-up bag in my purse wherever I go.

photo 1

It contains all of my necessary products for an everyday look. I personally prefer a natural look for my every day make-up. A lot of girls at my University wear really heavy eye make-up and bright red lipsticks to class but I just don’t see why. I think a natural look is much prettier, so I like to use products that emphasise the features of my face that I like best. I don’ t want to cover everything up. On a night out I totally like red lipstick or a more dramatic eye make-up. Just not during the day and especially not in class. That’s just my personal opinion. Anyway….

So here’s a list of my favorite everyday products that I can’t live without:

1. photo 4

Since I prefer a natural look I don’t wear an actual foundation but I use Miracle Skin Perfector by Garnier. I have tried many different BB creams by different brands but this one is by far my favorite. My skin is incredibly pale so most BB creams make me look orange, which is obviously not to color I’m aiming for. One product I can’t leave the house without is my Mineralize Skinfinish Natural by MAC. This mineralizing powder works absolute wonders and makes my skin look flawless and refreshed. I also tend to keep a concealer close by in case I get dark circles because no one wants to look tired.

2. photo 3

I don’t wear eyeshadow every day but if I do I tend to go with shades of beige and brown since they’re earth tones and look more natural. This palette is definitely one of my favorite products I’ve bought so far. It’s no.39 out of the Chanel ‘Les 4 Ombres’ Collection, so I’ve invested quite the amount of money into it but I haven’t regretted it once so far.

3.photo 2

The Hypnose Doll Eyes mascara by Lancome is my absolute favorite mascara. Luckily I was blessed with rather long lashes already so this mascara gives my lashes even more length, definition and volume. I’m in love with it.

4. photo 5

Eyeliner is not a product I use every day though I do use it pretty often. My personal favorite is the Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner by Maybelline New York.

5. photo 8

The Soft Sensation Lip Butter by Astor is my current favorite lip product. Why? Because it combines all 3 type of lip products. It’s got the texture and color of a lipstick, the shimmer of a gloss and it moisturizes your lips like a lip balm. Plus it comes in many great colors. I currently own 3 but my favorite is this nude color.

photo 7 photo 9

I love how it gives your lips a glossy simmer that almost looks natural and it also keeps them moisturized at the same time. How cool is that?

6. photo 6

Last but no least I always carry bobby pins and a hair tie with me.

With these products in my purse I’m all set to go wherever I please and always look my best (hopefully).

What products can’t you live without?
