Stila Magnificent Metals: Worth The Hype?

I’m attracted to all things glittery and shiny, so I absolutely love incorporating some glitter into my makeup. Glitter makes this world a little better and adds some fun and glam to every makeup look. It’s everything. There’s only one downside: it’s super messy and time-consuming to use glitter pigments.

But with their Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow Stila has now created the perfect product to use glitter fast, easy and without creating a mess all over your face and makeup vanity. These have been super hyped up in the beauty community and so since I’m a glitter lover I just had to give these a try.

A little while ago I placed a pretty big order with Sephora and purchased one of the Magnificent Metals in the shade Kitten Karma, which is a beautiful gold shade. I honestly must admit I fell in love with it the first time I swatched it. It’s so gorgeous and it looks even better on the eye, so for about at least a week I wore it every single day. I love that you can only apply a little bit and blend it in with your finger to let the eyeshadow underneath shine through or you can get full sparkly coverage and turn your eyelid into a disco ball.

Since I became so obsessed with Kitten Karma I decided it was time to get another shade and I ended up purchasing Rose Gold Retro about two weeks later. This shade, as well, is absolutely stunning.

IMG_3703

I have worn both shades to work so many times by now and have always received lots of compliments on my makeup, whenever I wore them. The formula of these liquid eyeshadows is very lightweight and so long-lasting. If I apply it in the morning it still looks beautiful and sparkly at the end of the day even after nine hours of running around at work. As usually the case with glitter these do have a bit of fallout throughout the day but nothing major, so I don’t mind that too much.

My favorite thing about these is the easy and quick application. No glitter glue or much patience needed! Literally anyone, even a total beginner, could apply these flawlessly within minutes. I like to use the applicator to dot some of the product onto my lid and then I blend it out with my finger but you could also use the applicator or a brush to blend.

IMG_3705

As always I’m going to show you some swatches. In the first picture you can see how they look right after application and in the second picture you can see how they look once they’ve dried down a bit and who sparkly they are when the lights hits them right. I also wanted to show you what they look like on the eyes, so I decided to share two makeup selfies as well.

So to sum up this review yes, these are totally worth the hype. I’m obsessed and I want them in every shade!

My Top Go-To Nude Lipsticks For Every Occasion

IMG_3656

As you might be able to tell from the title of today’s blog post I’ll be sharing my go-to nude lipsticks with you today. Now this isn’t supposed to be a favorites posts because my lipstick collection is gigantic, so I have tons of favorites, especially neutral lipsticks. Today’s post is about the lipsticks I truly reach for the most. The lipsticks I put on when I’m in a rush or when  I need it to stay looking good all day. These lipsticks are the ones I trust the most. They have never disappointed me so far and I wear them whenever I want to play it safe. But before I ramble on even more let’s get straight into the post.

IMG_3659

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks In Pure Hollywood & Crush

I currently own four ABH liquid lipsticks. Two I’m obsessed with and two I despise (not even exaggerating, I swear). But today let’s focus on the ones I do love and reach for all the time. Pure Hollywood is a classic nude beige lipstick shade and it’s literally perfect for any occasion and it will work with just about any makeup look, which is definitely a plus in my books. It has full opaque coverage, minimal to no transfer and is very long-lasting. What more could you wish for? In fact, Pure Hollywood is the only lipstick I’ve ever had to repurchase because I finished it. I have an unnecessary way too excessive amount of lipsticks, so I usually never finish one. Hence the fact that I repurchased Pure Hollywood is saying a lot.

All of the just mentioned benefits about Pure Hollywood also apply to the shade Crush. Crush is a beautiful beige, slightly dusty rose kind of color if you know what I mean. Well, even if you don’t it’s a beautiful shade and one I reach for when I want a neutral lipstick, that still has a hint of color to it. I’ve owned both of these for about a year now and still wear them all the time. They’re especially great for work because I know they will stay looking perfect throughout my 9 hour work day without me having to touch up.

IMG_3660

Too Faced Melted Matte in Child Star

Child Star is another one of those lipsticks I wear to work all the time because it’s not drying, lasts forever and stays looking pretty on my lips throughout my entire work day. Child Star is also one of those classic beige nudes but it is a little lighter than Pure Hollywood. This shade also goes with literally any outfit or any makeup look. It’s such a low maintenance lipstick it’s just perfect for whenever you’re in a rush or on the go or just can’t decide what lipstick you feel like wearing that day, because you certainly can’t go wrong with this one.

IMG_3658

Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme in Sonic Truth

In the past one to two years liquid lipsticks have taken over my life and I rarely buy a basic regular old-fashioned lipstick anymore. But from time to time I do still fall in love with one and this was the case with this beauty by Marc Jacobs. First off the sleek packaging is stunning! I love carrying this around in my bag because it’s pretty and who doesn’t like pretty things, especially when they come in the form of a lipstick? Sonic Truth is another one of those nude lipsticks that has a slight dusty rose tint to it, which I personally really like because sometimes you want to go neutral but not necessarily super beige. Sonic Truth is relatively matte but not completely. It has a nice creamy formula, which feels very hydrating and lightweight on the lips. Out of all the lipsticks mentioned in this post this one has the shortest staying power but it still is quite long-lasting. I usually re-apply this within my lunch break and then I’m good to go for another five hours.

(Swatches from left to right: Crush, Pure Hollywood, Child Star, Sonic Truth)

Of course here I have some swatches for you, which already completes today’s blog post. I genuinely love all four of these lipsticks and have worn them so many times I’ll probably have to repurchase all of them soon. If I had to choose a favorite I couldn’t because they all have a special place in my heart.

I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you for reading!

What are you go-to nude lipsticks or lipsticks in general?

Gerard Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in Cher & Iced Mocha

I’ve talked about the Gerard Cosmetic liquid lipsticks in my last favorites post but never actually wrote a review on them, so I figured it was just about time because I’ve had these for a few months now and really been loving them.

IMG_6017IMG_1258

When I ordered these from their website the two shades I went for are Cher, a beautiful dark mauve and Iced Mocha, which is more of a brown with some slightly greyish undertones to it. I tend to go for mauve shades, which is why I chose Cher and Iced Mocha seemed to be quite a unique color in my eyes and I’m always drawn to anything that’s a bit different for some reason.

I think packaging wise they’re really similar to most liquid lipsticks. Basically they look like lip gloss and come with a regular doe foot applicator, which really helps to achieve a more precise application.

IMG_1259

Formula wise I think the Gerard liquid lipsticks are pretty impressive. They apply really creamy and opaque before drying down to a nice and even matte finish. Just as you’d expect from any good liquid lipstick they are very long lasting and fade away evenly without leaving your lips looking like a hot mess. And luckily I don’t find them to be drying either.

I recently wrote about the ABH liquid lipstick in Pure Hollywood and how much I love it and while I’m obsessed with the color I definitely prefer the formula of the Gerard Cosmetic ones because they don’t feel as tacky on the lips and have a better staying power.

As always I’ve included some swatches and pictures of how it looks on my lips.

So to conclude I would definitely recommend these as I think they have a nice formula plus a great selection of shades. I definitely want more but I’d also like to try more by Gerard Cosmetics. Have you tried any of their products? What would you recommend?

Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in 13 Orchid Haze

One makeup item, which had been on my wish list for the longest time was one of the Tom Ford Eye Color Quads but since they are so damn expensive I hesitated on buying one for a while. Their lipsticks at $52 are already very pricey in my opinion but 80$ for an eyeshadow quad sure is one heavy price tag. Nonetheless I’ve been dreaming about purchasing one of these because I absolutely love Tom Ford lipsticks and the eyeshadow quads just look so insanely beautiful. So when I got a makeup gift card for my birthday I decided to spend it all on one Tom Ford item but I can’t even say I regret it because I love it so much.

IMG_0961

First off let’s just admire the packaging! It’s just so stunning I could literally stare at it for hours. Call me crazy I don’t care! What I do have to say though is that I was kind of positively surprised by how big the quad actually is, so there’s another plus. It also comes with two small double sided brushes. Now I personally never use any of the little brushes that come with any kind of eyeshadow quad or palette but it’s still nice to have them just in case. The last thing I want to mention about the packaging is that the quad comes with a massive mirror, which is another huge plus in my book. Gotta love a nice sized mirror for traveling!

IMG_0954IMG_0962

After lots of internet research I eventually decided to go with number 13 Orchid Haze because lately I’ve been loving mauve, dark purples and slightly rose toned brown shades, probably thanks to the Tartelette in Bloom palette. I was really hoping that I would love all four shades and thankfully Tom Ford did not let me down. Each shade is so soft and buttery, not chalky at all and incredibly pigmented. They all apply so nicely and blend like an absolute dream. Honestly the formula is amazing.

IMG_0956

I’ve mentioned before how much I love my shimmery eyeshadow, so I was especially happy about the slightly golden champagne highlighting color and its pigmentation. I feel like many of those light highlighting shades often swatch beautifully on your arm but once applied to your lid they seem to loose their pigmentation. At least I’ve come across a lot that seem to do so, which always results in me having to pack quite a lot of product onto my eyelids to reach the desired pigmentation. However with this eyeshadow I’ve not had that problem at all. It still looks absolutely beautiful on the eyes and so do the other three. My second favorite is the mauvey one in the bottom left. I absolutely love this as a transition color. It’s so stunning.

IMG_0957

So is it worth $80? I believe with makeup products this expensive everyone has to kind of answer this question for themselves. Obviously there is absolutely no need at all to spend this much money to get some great eyeshadows because you can get so many other amazing products from other great brands for much less. Nonetheless to me it was worth the money but to me makeup is much more than something I just slap on my face. I love collecting makeup products especially high end ones, which is why I’m okay with spending the money because I know that despite Tom Ford makeup being so pricey it really is of very great quality and I’m not just paying for the name. Basically what I’m saying is if you’re someone who likes to splurge on luxurious high end makeup I would always recommend Tom Ford as a brand but nonetheless you can find tons of other great products for a much more affordable price.

As always thank you so much for reading!

Much love,

Sophie

A Little Birthday Makeup Haul

So last Monday I turned 21 and since my family knows me quite well I received quite a few makeup bits and pieces along with some other things of course but I thought why not do a little haul and show you which makeup items I got. Let’s get right to it!

IMG_9656

Tom Ford in 04 Pussycat

The very first item I received is this absolutely stunning Tom Ford lipstick. I personally love Tom Ford lipstick despite the heavy price tag and I’ve been trying to hunt down this specific color for a while now because it is such a gorgeous color but I seem to have been out of luck. Hence I was quite ecstatic when I unwrapped this little stunner.

IMG_9934IMG_0322

Mac Single Eyeshadows in Jest, Cork and Sketch

Ever since I started trying to build up my Mac palette I’ve created a list of colors I still need for my palette and these three have been on that list for quite some time. So far I’ve only tried Jest and Cork and I absolutely love both. Just as expected Cork is such a perfect crease color but I was even more surprised by how much I liked Jest when I first applied it. It’s so beautiful and very nicely pigmented. Now I’m really intrigued to finally try Sketch.

IMG_9927

Zoeva Rose Golden Palette

I love Zoeva brushes but had never tried anything else from the brand, which is why I had my eye on this little beauty. Okay, seriously how freaking pretty is the packaging? This is just one of the palettes I would buy alone just for its pretty packaging. But I also love the Rose Gold inspired colors in this palette. I’ve used the palette only twice since I got it but I’m really liking it so far.

IMG_0321

Real Techniques Core Collection

Everybody seems to love these brushes, which is why I’ve been wanting to try them out and put them on my wish list. I guess you can never go wrong with some basic brushes. As you can probably tell from the picture I’ve already tried them (sorry I did not feel like washing them for one photo). So far I’m definitely liking them.

IMG_0319

Chanel Lipstick in 99 Pirate

This is such a stunning lipstick I don’t even have words for it. It’s so perfect from the packaging to the color. But it’s Chanel so there’s not really much more to say.

IMG_0320

The Balm Mary-Loumanizer Highlighter

This is another product I’ve been wanting to try for the longest time because everyone raves about it and I have a bit of an obsession with highlighters. I cannot wait to use it!

IMG_9998

Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad in 13 Orchid Haze

This one I actually chose myself and got it with a gift card. I thought about this long and hard and whether it was worth the splurge but then again I’ve been dreaming of owning one of these for the longest time, so in the end I just went with it and so far I’ve not regretted it. The shades are all so pigmented and just beautiful!

So this concludes my little haul of what I got for my birthday. Well at least makeup wise. I hope you enjoyed reading this.

Lots of love,

Sophie

Tartelette In Bloom Palette

Last summer I unexpectedly fell in love with Tarte’s Tartelette palette, so the second I found out that they would come out with the Tartelette in Bloom palette I knew right away that I had to get my hands on it at some point. I finally got it around a month ago and have been playing around with it ever since.

IMG_9145

I think I’ve mentioned several times before how much I love glittery and shimmery eyeshadow. The more glitter the better, which is why I usually gravitate towards very shimmery eyeshadow and neglect the mattes, although we all need some good basic mattes in our makeup collection. After all it’s the mattes that help us to really add definition and dimension to our eye makeup! Initially I wanted the Tartelette palette because I figured that having an all matte palette would come in quite handy. What I didn’t expect was how much I would end up loving it. It has become one of my most used palettes in the past 6 or 7 months. Hence I just needed the Tartelette in Bloom palette in my life!

IMG_9146

While the Tartelette palette comes with 12 all matte shades the Tartelette in Bloom includes 9 matte shades but also comes with 3 gorgeous shimmery shades. But before I start talking more about the palette itself let’s take a moment to appreciate the stunning packaging! I think it’s so pretty. Every time I look at it I think of spring and sunshine and pretty flowers and it just makes me so happy. Okay now back to the actual product.

IMG_7273

If you look at both Tartelette palettes the first one definitely includes more cool toned shades like soft pinks, lilacs and purples along with your basic neutral matte shades. In contrast the Tartelette in Bloom palette has much more earthy warm toned shades, so they are definitely quite different when it comes to the color scheme.

IMG_9147IMG_9148

What I love about this palette is that there’s not one shade I dislike or not use at all. Of course I have my favorites but I do use them all. I love how soft and buttery each shade is and they are all so nicely pigmented. One minor thing I was not too happy about with my Tartelette palette was that some of the darker pink/purple shades weren’t as pigmented and didn’t apply as evenly as the other shades in the palette. However, I find all the shades in the Tartelette in Bloom palette to be very nicely pigmented and they all apply evenly and are a dream to blend.

IMG_9149

Of course I’m including swatches as always. The shades from left to right are Charmer, Jetsetter, Rocker, Smokeshow, Flower Child, Smarty Pants, Firecracker, Activist, Funny Girl, Sweetheart, Rebel and leader.

IMG_9150

To round off my review I just wanted to tell you which shades are my personal favorites. I love Jetsetter and Rebel for the crease and Flower Child and Sweetheart are lovely transition colors in my opinion. Obviously I love all 3 shimmery shades but Funny Girl is by far my favorite. It’s so stunning I can’t use this palette without using it. I love applying it all over my lid. Lastly one shade I’m also obsessed with is Leader. I don’t even know how to describe this color but it’s a gorgeous slightly reddish deep brown and I love using it to darken the crease as well as the outer V and along my waterline sometimes.

As you can probably already guess I love this palette. I couldn’t tell you which one of the two I prefer because they consist of such different colors but I’m glad I own both and they are currently some of the palettes I reach for the most. I think that about says it all!

UD Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer

Before I get into the topic of today’s blog post I just wanted to take a quick moment to thank you guys for the views, comments and likes on my last post. I was honestly a bit surprised because I’ve been so MIA on my blog lately but seeing that there are still people who seem to enjoy reading what I write has definitely motivated me even further to stay on track this time, so thank you!

With that being said let’s get back to makeup! Although my skin is not making too many problems I do have quite sensitive skin, which is why I like to stick with what I know and love when it comes to the base of my makeup (foundation, concealer, powder). I love to try out and experiment with all kinds of products, just not my basics. Hence I literally use the same foundation, concealer and powder every single time I do my makeup and rarely ever try a new product. However, every now and then I come across one that does spark my interest and I will eventually try it after doing some online research first obviously.

IMG_9001

After hearing lots of raving reviews about the UD Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer (seriously though could they have made that name any longer?) I caved in and decided to try it out because I do love Urban Decay as a brand and never purchased a product from them I didn’t like. Since I’m ridiculously pale anyway I didn’t even go to a store to get matched but just ordered the lightest shade available online.

IMG_8999

I do have to say I was a little surprised with how light the shade actually was but I do found it to be the perfect shade for my skin tone for highlighting and brightening up the under eye area. However, for covering any redness or blemishes on the rest of my face this shade definitely would have been too light. Luckily my skin is pretty clear so my foundation will usually cover up everything and I don’t need to add much concealer most days.

IMG_9002

What I really love about this concealer is that just as the name promises it feels so weightless and light on the skin. I know some people don’t mind but I just don’t like wearing products that feel really heavy on my skin. In general, I really like the formula. I find it definitely has enough coverage to cover up any dark circles and although I’ve read some people had problems with it creasing I definitely didn’t experience any creasing under my eyes with this concealer. Another thing I really like is that is has more of a luminous finish, which really adds to brightening up that under eye area.

IMG_8998

Before trying the UD concealer the Mac Pro Longwear was my holy grail concealer! So would I replace my Mac one for UD? Yes and no. When it comes to covering up dark circles and brightening I would actually prefer the UD one because it doesn’t crease on me at all, it’s very lightweight and I like the luminous finish it provides. But if it comes to covering any blemishes or redness I will definitely stick to my Mac Pro Longwear because I feel like it gives more coverage and it comes with a pump. The UD concealer comes with a wand like applicator similar to a lip gloss and I always find those to be to so unsanitary.

So to sum it up I feel like my UD and Mac concealers would make the perfect team for a flawless base.

Thanks so much for reading!

Love,

Sophie
