Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation – New HG?

As I’ve mentioned before I don’t like to change up my foundation a lot and usually tend to stick to the same product but every now and then I do feel the need to try out something new. One foundation I’ve been lusting after especially is the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. First off my skin is definitely more on the dry side so everything luminous always sounds nice to me and then I’ve read so many raving reviews about this foundation. The only thing that put me off for the longest time was the hefty price tag this foundation comes with but being the makeup addict I am I eventually bought it anyways.

I still remember how torn up I was about this foundation when it was delivered and I was about to try it for the first time. On the one hand I wanted to love it because I just spent a little fortune on it but then I also wanted to hate it because I was a little afraid that I would end up liking it so much that I’d always need to repurchase it. Do you understand my dilemma here?

But lets’s get back to the actual product and start talking about the packaging. The foundation comes in a very nice looking glass bottle with a simple black cap that has the logo on it and most importantly it comes with a pump! I personally love the very simplistic yet beautiful packaging because it adds a touch of luxury to the product but then again considering that this is a very luxurious high end foundation I wouldn’t expect anything less.

In the past I was always drawn to very full coverage foundations such as the Estee Lauder Double Wear or the Mac Studio Fix Fluid and while I still love them my skin has been changing  and so have I and I just don’t feel the need to wear high coverage every day anymore. The Luminous Silk foundation has up to a medium coverage, which is all I really need for every day as my skin is in a pretty good condition these days. What I really like about the formula is that it is not as thick as most of my foundations that I’ve used before but a lot more thin and watery without being too runny. I think it is because of the formula that it blends so seamlessly into my skin and feels so light as if I’m not even wearing any foundation at all.

IMG_9512

I’m so happy that I found my perfect color match right away and I honestly love how it makes my skin look. I feel like it provides me with just the right amount of coverage and doesn’t sit heavy on my face but actually feels really nice. It doesn’t emphasize any dry patches and it doesn’t get cakey. It lasts all day even throughout work when I’m constantly active and it doesn’t settle into fine lines or breaks around certain areas. Basically it’s all I would ever wish for in a foundation! Having tried this foundation I can now definitely understand why it is so hyped in the beauty world and I my fear of liking this too much has become reality because I have a feeling that it might become my new favorite despite how expensive it is.

This really reminds of how when I was around 15/16 I used to think that Mac Cosmetics was already super expensive and I always wondered how anyone could spend more than maybe 20 to 30 bucks on a foundation and now here I am at nearly 21 practically writing a love letter to a foundation that retails for way over 30. Oh how times have changed!

Have you tried this Armani foundation? Do you love it or hate it? What are your favorite high end foundations?

Thank you for reading.

Feeling Moody? *

In the past few days the weather over here has been so nice. It’s still pretty cold but the sun has been out a lot more and for some reason this has totally lifted my spirits and I’ve been in such a good mood. Honestly I’m just tired of this cold rainy weather and I’m so ready for Spring and Summer. One thing that has definitely helped me to get even more into the mood for sunshine and Spring  was a lovely delivery from Australia, which I received last week.

IMG_9138

A while back I was contacted by the lovely people from Moodi if I would like to try some of their body spritzers. I love perfumes/body sprays (who doesn’t?) so of course I was really excited to test these out. Moodi is a brand created and made in Australia and I love that they don’t test on animals. However, what I think makes them quite unique is their concept. The body spritzers they offer are all inspired by moods and right now they offer four different fragrances called Dreamy, Peppy, Chill and Loco.

IMG_9137

Like probably many girls out there I’m a total sucker for cute packaging, and I think these come in such cute and fun little bottles. I also love that they included a little bag and some fun stickers. I just think it’s little things like that, which make me like brands even more because it shows they put a lot of thought into their productsIMG_9142IMG_9143

So let me talk a bit more about the different scents. Peppy and Chill are both very fresh and light scents, which is what makes them perfect for those days when you don’t feel like wearing a heavy perfume but just want something fresh. Peppy is describes as ‘fresh apples with a touch of zest’ and Chill as ‘floral fruity apple with green cucumber’.

IMG_9140

While I do like Peppy and Chill my two favorite scents are definitely Dreamy and Loco. Okay, so Dreamy literally smells like a day by the beach and summer in a bottle. That’s the only way I could describe this scent but it smells so so nice. I feel like once Summer rolls around I’ll be using this all the time. It just makes me think of sunshine, the ocean, palm trees and pretty beaches.

So Loco smells like coconut and vanilla and I’m genuinely surprised by how much I love this scent because I usually don’t like anything coconut. I hate the taste of it and I’m not too keen on the smell either. But basically this smells like Pina Colada to me and I think it’s the vanilla in it that makes me like it so much.

IMG_9141

I love body sprays for spring and summer because I usually don’t like to wear heavy perfume unless it’s for a special occasion. I think it’s so cool that these sprays are inspired by moods and I have a feeling I’ll be using all four a lot this summer but Dreamy and Loco are my personal favorites.

Tartelette In Bloom Palette

Last summer I unexpectedly fell in love with Tarte’s Tartelette palette, so the second I found out that they would come out with the Tartelette in Bloom palette I knew right away that I had to get my hands on it at some point. I finally got it around a month ago and have been playing around with it ever since.

IMG_9145

I think I’ve mentioned several times before how much I love glittery and shimmery eyeshadow. The more glitter the better, which is why I usually gravitate towards very shimmery eyeshadow and neglect the mattes, although we all need some good basic mattes in our makeup collection. After all it’s the mattes that help us to really add definition and dimension to our eye makeup! Initially I wanted the Tartelette palette because I figured that having an all matte palette would come in quite handy. What I didn’t expect was how much I would end up loving it. It has become one of my most used palettes in the past 6 or 7 months. Hence I just needed the Tartelette in Bloom palette in my life!

IMG_9146

While the Tartelette palette comes with 12 all matte shades the Tartelette in Bloom includes 9 matte shades but also comes with 3 gorgeous shimmery shades. But before I start talking more about the palette itself let’s take a moment to appreciate the stunning packaging! I think it’s so pretty. Every time I look at it I think of spring and sunshine and pretty flowers and it just makes me so happy. Okay now back to the actual product.

IMG_7273

If you look at both Tartelette palettes the first one definitely includes more cool toned shades like soft pinks, lilacs and purples along with your basic neutral matte shades. In contrast the Tartelette in Bloom palette has much more earthy warm toned shades, so they are definitely quite different when it comes to the color scheme.

IMG_9147IMG_9148

What I love about this palette is that there’s not one shade I dislike or not use at all. Of course I have my favorites but I do use them all. I love how soft and buttery each shade is and they are all so nicely pigmented. One minor thing I was not too happy about with my Tartelette palette was that some of the darker pink/purple shades weren’t as pigmented and didn’t apply as evenly as the other shades in the palette. However, I find all the shades in the Tartelette in Bloom palette to be very nicely pigmented and they all apply evenly and are a dream to blend.

IMG_9149

Of course I’m including swatches as always. The shades from left to right are Charmer, Jetsetter, Rocker, Smokeshow, Flower Child, Smarty Pants, Firecracker, Activist, Funny Girl, Sweetheart, Rebel and leader.

IMG_9150

To round off my review I just wanted to tell you which shades are my personal favorites. I love Jetsetter and Rebel for the crease and Flower Child and Sweetheart are lovely transition colors in my opinion. Obviously I love all 3 shimmery shades but Funny Girl is by far my favorite. It’s so stunning I can’t use this palette without using it. I love applying it all over my lid. Lastly one shade I’m also obsessed with is Leader. I don’t even know how to describe this color but it’s a gorgeous slightly reddish deep brown and I love using it to darken the crease as well as the outer V and along my waterline sometimes.

As you can probably already guess I love this palette. I couldn’t tell you which one of the two I prefer because they consist of such different colors but I’m glad I own both and they are currently some of the palettes I reach for the most. I think that about says it all!

UD Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer

Before I get into the topic of today’s blog post I just wanted to take a quick moment to thank you guys for the views, comments and likes on my last post. I was honestly a bit surprised because I’ve been so MIA on my blog lately but seeing that there are still people who seem to enjoy reading what I write has definitely motivated me even further to stay on track this time, so thank you!

With that being said let’s get back to makeup! Although my skin is not making too many problems I do have quite sensitive skin, which is why I like to stick with what I know and love when it comes to the base of my makeup (foundation, concealer, powder). I love to try out and experiment with all kinds of products, just not my basics. Hence I literally use the same foundation, concealer and powder every single time I do my makeup and rarely ever try a new product. However, every now and then I come across one that does spark my interest and I will eventually try it after doing some online research first obviously.

IMG_9001

After hearing lots of raving reviews about the UD Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer (seriously though could they have made that name any longer?) I caved in and decided to try it out because I do love Urban Decay as a brand and never purchased a product from them I didn’t like. Since I’m ridiculously pale anyway I didn’t even go to a store to get matched but just ordered the lightest shade available online.

IMG_8999

I do have to say I was a little surprised with how light the shade actually was but I do found it to be the perfect shade for my skin tone for highlighting and brightening up the under eye area. However, for covering any redness or blemishes on the rest of my face this shade definitely would have been too light. Luckily my skin is pretty clear so my foundation will usually cover up everything and I don’t need to add much concealer most days.

IMG_9002

What I really love about this concealer is that just as the name promises it feels so weightless and light on the skin. I know some people don’t mind but I just don’t like wearing products that feel really heavy on my skin. In general, I really like the formula. I find it definitely has enough coverage to cover up any dark circles and although I’ve read some people had problems with it creasing I definitely didn’t experience any creasing under my eyes with this concealer. Another thing I really like is that is has more of a luminous finish, which really adds to brightening up that under eye area.

IMG_8998

Before trying the UD concealer the Mac Pro Longwear was my holy grail concealer! So would I replace my Mac one for UD? Yes and no. When it comes to covering up dark circles and brightening I would actually prefer the UD one because it doesn’t crease on me at all, it’s very lightweight and I like the luminous finish it provides. But if it comes to covering any blemishes or redness I will definitely stick to my Mac Pro Longwear because I feel like it gives more coverage and it comes with a pump. The UD concealer comes with a wand like applicator similar to a lip gloss and I always find those to be to so unsanitary.

So to sum it up I feel like my UD and Mac concealers would make the perfect team for a flawless base.

Thanks so much for reading!

ABH Pure Hollywood – The Perfect Nude?

Hey lovelies,

I know it’s been a very long time since my last blog post. Around 2 months to be exact but for some reason I was lacking motivation when it came to blogging and life would always get in the way. However, I’ve missed my little space on the Internet and I’m excited and most of all motivated to finally get my blogging game back on track. If you happen to follow me on any social media, especially Instagram, you might know that of course I have still continued to expand my makeup collection because I’m just obsessed and I can never get enough. So I’m looking forward to sharing lots of reviews with you in the next few weeks.

I thought my first blog post, after my little break, should be about one of my current most used products. It’s no secret that when it comes to makeup my favorite thing to buy is lipsticks and lately, just like everyone else on the Internet, I’ve been loving liquid lipsticks.

IMG_8901

One brand I’ve always wanted to try is the Anastasia Beverly Hills ones as everyone seems to be raving about them. When one of my dear friends got two of their shades for me for Christmas I was absolutely ecstatic and could not wait to try them. While I’m not too keen on the shade ‘American Doll’ she got me, although I love the color, the one I want to talk about today I’ve really come to love ever since I first applied it on my lips.

IMG_8902

The color I’m talking about is a lovely nude called ‘Pure Hollywood’. For a while I was on this dark nude lip kick and it’s all I would wear but ever since I got the Tom Ford ‘First Time’ lipstick for Christmas I’ve realized that I need more lighter nudes in my life. ‘Pure Hollywood is definitely more on the peachy side but it still has a light touch of pink to it. I think it’s a stunning color for every day or the perfect neutral color to wear kind of even out a dramatic heavy eye make up.

IMG_8903

If I’m being totally honest the formula is not my favorite because it feels slightly tacky and sticky on the lips but not enough to the point that it really bothers me. It can get quite drying after a few hours of wearing it and you definitely need to prep your lips with lip balm before applying or else it will settle into any lines and make your lips look way drier than they actually are. But what I love is how pigmented this color is, how evenly it applies and how nicely it dries down. I, personally, love a matte finish. It’s my absolute favorite and I tend to wear matte lipstick almost on a daily basis, which is why I don’t necessarily mind that it can get a little drying because a lot of matte lipsticks and especially liquid lipsticks tend to do so. However, if you do have very dry lips and prefer lipsticks which feel soft and moisturizing this one might not be the one for you.

As always I’m including a swatch of what the color looks like on my skin as well as picture of me wearing it.

Although I’ve tried liquid lipsticks with a nicer formula I love the color so much that it has still become one of my current most used lipsticks. The color is just so stunning and goes with just about every makeup look. Also I find that it is quite long wearing, which is why I love wearing it at work.

Have you tried any of the ABH liquid lipsticks? What are your thoughts? Which colors would you recommend?

Thank you so much for reading!

Sophie
