June Favorites

Hey lovelies,

how are you? I hope you’re all enjoying the amazing weather right now! Since today’s the last day of June I figured it’s time for my June favorites posts. Besides I think I haven’t done a favorites post in a while because I honestly don’t even remember when I wrote the last one, so here we go.

IMG_0506

Mac Studio Fix Powder

I think I’ve made it more than clear that Mac Mineralize Skinfinish is pretty much my holy grail powder and the one I’ve been using ever since I was 14. However, I love Mac’s Studio Fix powder as well and I usually switch up between the two. This month I’ve been using Studio Fix every single day though. I just love how nicely it sets my foundation and concealer and it just gives that little bit of extra coverage.

Mac Mineralize in Gentle

I got this blush a little while ago and I’ve actually written a full review on it but it’s been one of my favorites and most used blushes this month. It’s just such a gorgeous shimmery pink. Perfect for an every day look.

Mac Twig Lipstick and Kiko Lipstick in 611

I got this Kiko lipstick a while ago and then a few weeks back I bought Twig and after using them both a lot I’ve realized how similar they actually are. Now it’s not an exact dupe but they are definitely very close in color. Only Twig is a bit lighter on the lips and has more of a pink undertone while the Kiko lipstick is a bit darker and more brown based. But I’ve included a swatch for you. Twig is the one on the right and the Kiko Lipstick is the one on the left. Now I don’t know the complete name of the Kiko lipstick because it says it nowhere on the packaging but I do know it’s number 611 and the packaging is one that definitely stands out, so it should be easy to find.

MaxFactor Blush in Alluring Rose

I just wrote a blog post about the MaxFactor powder blushes recently but Alluring Rose has been my favorite by far, so I just had to include in this post. I’ve been using it nearly every day because I like it so much. It just really warms up my complexion and adds this really nice glow to my cheeks. It’s just perfect for the summer.

Maybelline The Great Lash

This is just one of my absolute favorite mascaras and the one I’ve been using the most lately. It adds length and volume and it’s just a really nice mascara.

IMG_0516

Victoria’s Secret Body Mist White Cotton & Pink Lily

I really like the Victioria’s Secret body mists. They’re great for days when you still wanna smell good but don’t feel like putting on a heavy perfume. This one looks so cute. I love the soft pink packaging but of course it also smells amazing! Now I suck at describing scents but this one is very light and fresh, which I very much prefer over sweet scents.

St. Moriz Self-Tanning Mousse

Since it’s finally sumer and I’m basically as white as a wall I’ve been self-tanning a lot this month. I love the St. Moriz one because it’s really cheap but still does the job. First I was scared it might turn me orange but it gives me a really nice and natural looking tan.

IMG_0508

Yankee Candles

I used to not really get the obsession with scented candles. I’ve never really liked candles because I think they’re cheesy and I’m scared of fire. But then I was given a scented candle and I’ve realised that they can be quite relaxing and I love how they make my room smell. So early this month I went to my nearest Yankee Candle store and bought a whole bunch. My two most burned candles this month have been Sweet Apple and Midsummer’s Night. Sweet Apple is more of a sweet scent (obviously) but it’s not too overly sweet. It pretty much smells like one of those sugar coated apples you can get at a fair. I just think it’ s so nice for the summer. Midsummer’s Night is probably not for everyone because it has quite the masculine scent to it but it’s very fresh and I love the color.

So these are my June favorites! What have you been loving this month?

Much love,

Sophie

Mac’s Impassioned – One For The Brave

It seems as if summer is finally well and truly here as we’ve had some lovely weather over here and according to my iPhone it’s supposed to stay that way. I only have one exam left to take before I head off to Spain in a few days, so it’s really starting to feel like actual summer to me. Now we all change the clothes we wear in regards to seasons and I tend to do the same with my lipsticks. There are definitely some I wear all year around but others only come out a certain time of the year.

IMG_0215

One of my absolute favorites for summer is Mac’s Impassioned. I think it’s one of the most gorgeous lipsticks I own, however, I’m also aware that this one is not quite for everyone. Impassioned is just the most bright, vibrant, loud almost neon like pink. Now I’m really into bold and unique colors but if you barely stray away from neutrals this is definitely not the one for you.

I absolutely adore Impassioned because I find it to be such a fun color. But it is a very in your face kind of pink and it definitely almost seems to scream ‘Look at me!’ Nonetheless this is one of my favorites for summer because if you can’t wear such a fun color in summer, when can you? Besides it just remind me of sunshine and the ocean and watermelon for some reason.

IMG_0226

Impassioned comes in an Amplified formula so it is incredibly pigmented. But it also feels quite nice on the lips at it is relatively creamy and not drying at all. I definitely tend to wear a lot less make up in summer and one of my favorite looks is a really simply eye make up so maybe either just mascara or mascara and a little bit of eyeshadow (usually and bronzy shade) paired with a really bright and fun lip color. Obviously Impassioned is perfect for that. I feel like it’s one of those lipsticks that really kind of brighten up my complexion and really add to that summer vibe.

So if you’re into pink or just fun and vibrant colors and don’t shy away from bold lipsticks you need this in your life! Seriously need this! As always I have some swatches for you and I took some pictures (sorry they’re not the best!) of how it looks on my lips. But do bare in mind that the pictures don’t completely give justice to the color because it’s even brighter and louder in real life. Oh and please don’t mind my weirdly colored arm because my fake tan is peeling off and I know I really need to take care of sorting this out.

IMG_0222    IMG_0238IMG_0236

So this is today’s post on one of my favorite lipsticks for summer!

What are some of yours? Are you into bold colors and do you play it safe and stick to your neutrals?

Much love and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Summer Vibes With Metallic Tattoos*

Hey you guys!

How’s everyone doing? I hope you’re all well and the sun is shining for you, wherever you may be in the world right now. After a lot of rainy days the sun has finally found its way back to me! Yay!

So today I want to talk to you about Flash Tattoos or Metallic Tattoos or whatever you want to call them. I’ve recently seen these all over the Internet. They have mostly been all over my Pinterest and Instagram. Now I have to admit that I’m kind of into tattoos anyway. I don’t actually have a real one yet but I’m dying to get one. I’m just not 100% what I want yet but it’s a work in progress.  Anyway… I really love the way the metallic Tattoos look because they give off such a fun summer vibe. Hence when the lovely people over from the Porn Pretty Store gave me the chance to try a few I jumped right at it.

IMG_0041IMG_0042IMG_0043

So this is what they look like. I’ve been playing around with a few of them and I’ve had so much fun trying out some of these pretty metallic tattoes! First off they are so easy to apply. I’m sure you all know the concept. You simply decide on a spot, stick it on and slightly wet the paper until the  tattoo has transferred onto your skin. It probably takes less than 2 minutes. I think these are so incredibly fun and they look so nice on really tan skin (thank God for self-tan). On the description it says that they will last for around a week but so far mine have definitely lasted for more than just one week but nearly two weeks. In case you get tired of them or just need them to be gone you can easily wash them away with some soap. Just take a towel and you can rub it off in a few minutes.

Basically I think I’ve found a new obsession. These just look so cool and I’m having so much fun trying out the different tattoos in different places. Maybe this will finally help me decide where I want my real one to be. I think these are especially nice when you’re going on vacation and I’m definitely taking my remaining ones with me when I’m flying to Spain in a little less than two weeks. I’m so excited already and can’t wait for a few days of being on the beach, sunshine and relaxation.

Here are some photos of how I used some of mine and just to show you what they look like on actual skin.

Have you tried any metallic tattoos? Are you planning on?

As always I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post!

Much love,

Sophie

Blushing Beauties

Hey guys,

how have you all been lately? I’m finally done with all of my exams for the most part, so I can get back to a more regular blogging schedule! I’m so excited! I can’t wait to write some more lifestyle posts now that I have the time but for now I’m back with another review of two beautiful Chanel blushes.

IMG_9794

I’ve been using both of them for weeks now and totally in love although the are almost too beautiful to use. Do you ever have that problem when you buy a really nice make up item and it’s so pretty you don’t even want to use it but then you kind of spend a little fortune on it so it’s too expensive to just be sitting there on your vanity? I have this all the time because I just can’t say no to pretty make up. I know! It’s a problem! Anyway… these are actually my first Chanel blushes. So far I’ve only owned a view lip glosses and lipsticks and some eyeshadows but I never really looked much into their blushes because for high end blushes I love Nars and Mac and I think there are so amazing drugstore blushes out there like Milani. I love using blush and the way it really can make a difference to your face but I don’t go as crazy about them as I do with lipsticks and eyeshadows if that makes any sense.

IMG_9795

When I saw Chanel’s spring collection and dissevered the Blush Camelia Rose blush it was love at first sight though. However, those blushes are quite expensive so I was head over heels when my brother got it for me for my birthday in March. The other blush I’m going to talk about is the number 170 Rose Glacier, which my Grandma so kindly got for me, so let’s get right to it.

Camelia Rose

I think it is pretty self-explanatory why this was love at first sight! Just look at this blush. It is probably one of the prettiest make up items I have ever seen and definitely the prettiest one in my collection. It’s so pretty that I barely even touched it for the first few weeks because I just thought it was too pretty to use and my brother was already getting a bit confused why I was never using it and thought I didn’t like it. But now on to the actual product. As the name already kind of suggests it’s a beautiful soft pink rose-colored like shade. As you can see from the picture the blush itself is made up out of two colors, a darker pink and a very light one. I usually swirl my brush through both colors and mix them together as the light one is so light it is more of a highlight then a blush. But if you use the tow colors together you get a beautiful cool-toned soft pink with a slight shimmer although this blush is definitely more on the matte side. I think the pigmentation is just right for this blush because it is more of a subtle color for a really natural look. Even though this is blush really does remind me of Spring it’s definitely one you can use all year around, whenever you’re going for a really soft and natural look but still want some rosy cheeks.

IMG_9796IMG_9797

170 Rose Glacier

While visiting my Grandma in late April this year she took me shopping and obviously we ended up at a make up counter because my grandma knows me well. After lusting over all the beautiful products we ended up look at Chanel blushes and swatched a few. My grandma and I both loved Rose Glacier with my skin tone, so she bought it for me. I swear, she just spoils me way too much.

Okay, so Rose Glacier is an absolute little stunner. It actually reminds me a bit of Nars Orgasm because it has that same beautiful gold shimmer to it but while Orgasm is more of a peachy pink Rose Glacier is more of a cool-toned pink. Even though it is more cool-toned the golden shimmer in it adds warmth to the blush again and it really brightens up your complexion and gives you the most gorgeous rosy cheeks with a golden glow. When applying this I’d definitely recommend using a light hand thought because this blush is insanely well pigmented and you don’t want to end up with super bright pink cheeks. Or maybe you do but I definitely don’t!

IMG_9800IMG_9798

As always I have some swatches for you. The first one on the left is Rose Galcier and the second one is Camelia Rose. You ca definitely see the pigmentation here but the swatch for Rose Glacier really does not do it justice because it has much more of a golden shimmer.

IMG_9803

I’ve definitely been loving both blushes and am really glad that I have them in my collection and they really make me want to add some more Chanel blushes and not only because of their beautiful and luxurious packaging. Both blushes I’ve tried so far are just stunning shades with good pigmentation that are easy to blend and last well. What more could I want?

Do you own any Chanel blushes? What are your thoughts? Which shades would you recommend?

Much love,

Sophie

Blush Lovin’ from the Drugstore

Hey you guys,

long time no see, or read in this case. I know I’ve been a bit quiet over here on my blog as well as on Twitter lately because I’m currently trying to make my way through finals and if you’ve ever attended University you know what that means. I’ve taken all of my in class exams and now only have some essays to finish, so I thought I’d give myself a break and finally type up a blog post again because I’ve really missed blogging to be honest, so I’m really excited to get at least one post up again. Today I want to talk about my obsession with the Maxfactor compact blushes to you.

IMG_9384

After seeing them all over my Instagram I was really tempted to buy one because they not only look super pretty but I also heard a lot of good reviews about them. Since I was at the mall with my mom and my brother anyway I decided to pick one of these bad boys up and give it a go. After some heavy swatting I eventually ended up with the shade 010 Nude Mauve. Turns out I was so impressed with this blush I went back and got 2 more shades: 15 Seductive Rose and my absolute favorite 25 Alluring Rose.

IMG_9385

All three blushes look insanely pretty in the pan, which is what first drew me to them. The packaging is quite simple and compact, which I really like. What impressed me the most though was how insanely pigmented they are, especially for drugstore blushes. And they are so easy to blend! If you prefer matte blushes these might not be the ones for you as they are shimmery. However, they are some of the prettiest shimmery blushes I’ve come across because they have the perfect amount of shimmer to them. Another thing I really like is that although not all of the shades are warm-toned they somehow really brighten up your face and warm up your complexion. Basically I love them, so let me tell you a bit about the individual shades.

10 Nude Mauve

As I’ve already mentioned this was the very first shade I picked up. After swatching all of them and looking at them from all different angles I went with this one because I thought I’d wear it the most. As the name already suggests it’s a beautiful mauve color but it has a bit of a golden bronzy shimmer to it. I love the shade mauve in lipsticks, which is why I initially went for it.

IMG_9386

15 Seductive Pink

This is basically your classic more cool-toned medium pink blush. I think it’s a stunning shade but that could also be because I always go for the cool-toned pink as they really suit me. This one has a bit more of a frosty finish which goes so nicely with the color.

IMG_9387

25 Alluring Rose

So this one is the last one I picked up but it has turned out to be my favorite out of the three. It’s just the most gorgeous bronzy shade with a golden shimmer and some light pink undertones. It’s a very warm-toned blush, which is why I’m so surprised with how much I love this because I tend to go more for cool-toned shades. But I just love the way this warms up my complexion. It really adds that little extra to my face that gives me a healthy bronzed glow. As I’ve already said this one is definitely my favorite and I would totally recommend this to anyone for the summer as it really gives you a beautiful summery bronzed glow!

IMG_9388

As you can probably already guess I’m absolutely in love with these blushes and I honestly didn’t expect I would like these as much because I rarely ever buy Maxfactor products. However, I’m so glad I gave these blushes a go because all three of them are stunning. Here are some swatches for you.

Have you tried these blushes? Did you like them?

Thank you so much for reading!

Mac Violetta – Purple Is My New Thing

Hey you guys,

I’m back with another Mac lipstick review. Who would’ve guessed? If you happen to follow me on Instagram or Twitter you might have already seen that a little while ago I got Mac’s Violetta thanks to the Back2Mac program. I had finally gotten enough empty products to return and I ended up going for Violetta because I knew that it wasn’t a color I’d normally go for. Those of you who have been fooling my blog for a while know how obsessed I am with lip products and I love experimenting with crazy colors. However, purple is one color I’ve always kind of stayed clear of so far. I can’t even really explain why but for some reason I was really unsure of whether it would suit me. IMG_8403

I’ve ben eyeing up Violetta for the longest time but was never brave enough to go for it. Since you can chose a free lipsticks with the Back 2 Mac program I figured this would be my one chance to finally get it and I’m so glad I took it. Violetta is just the most beautiful vibrant blue-based purple with a slight frosty shimmer to it. It has an Amplified formula, which I absolutely love as it’s quite opaque and applies so smoothly. It hardly bleeds and it doesn’t feel drying at all. What more could you want?

IMG_8403IMG_8414

Now I’m not going to lie, when I first saw the color in the bullet I found it to be a bit scary just because I never wear purple lipsticks. But as soon as I applied it on my lips I basically fell in love. The color itself looked a lot different on me than I first though it would. It wasn’t as dark and even though it is very vibrant it’s not as loud and in your face as I expected it to be. The best thing about this lipstick, in my opinion, is that when it starts fading after a few hours it fades evenly to a beautiful plum pink stain.

IMG_8409IMG_7647

As you can guess from my review I really do love this lipstick. The formula is amazing and I’m seriously obsessed with this color. If you’re brave enough to go for a purple lipstick this is one you should try!

As always I hope you enjoyed reading!
Thanks and much love,

Sophie

An Adventurous Little Road Trip To A Happier Me

Hey lovelies,

I know it’s been a little while since I’ve blogged last, actually not even that long, but for me a week almost seems like forever. But as you all probably know life gets in the way sometimes. I’m finally done with all of my lectures and seminars for my second year of University, which seems incredibly unreal to me because I swear I just graduated high school yesterday. Anyway.. my last week was quite busy so I was so glad that I had this little road trip coming to just to have a little break before exams and get away from everything even for just a little while.

One of my best friends from high school is currently studying in a smaller town close to Munich in Germany. Now I’ve never been to the South of Germany before but I’ve always heard that it’s supposed to be really beautiful down there. As you guys may know I’m currently studying in the Netherlands, so from here that’s a 7 hour car ride. So another one of my oldest and best friends from high school and I decided to take a little trip down there to visit. We’ve all known each other ever since 5th grade, so it was so nice to be reunited for a few days even though I never would’ve thought that would happen down in Bavaria, but life is full of surprises.

IMG_8031

So on Thursday evening my friend and I got into the car and about 7 and a half hours later we arrived at our friend’s place. She lives in an incredibly nice apartment within one of those student houses. Being a student myself I’ve seen so many different houses and apartments students live in but hers is by far one of the coolest I’ve seen from the furniture to the view and she pays less rent than I do and my place is not even close to that cool. Since we didn’t arrive until around 1.30am we talked for a while and then went to bed. Well, I slept on the couch because I’m the shortest one.

IMG_8051

The next day we slept in, had a nice breakfast and went to the town center afterwards. The weather was incredibly perfect. It was so nice and sunny and not a single dark cloud in sight. The town in general is one of the cutest places I’ve ever seen. If you’ve ever seen images of Bavaria, it actually really does look like that down there. The landscape is absolutely stunning. Everything is so green and you have hills everywhere. The cities itself look so old and traditional and the houses are so cute and colorful.

IMG_8180

IMG_8083

After strolling through the city center for a while we walked up this hill because there was a castle located at the very top. The castle wasn’t that spectacular compared to other ones I’ve seen before but it was still pretty and you had an amazing view over all of the city from up there. Once we made it back down again we got some ice cream and sat down near the river side and just talked for the longest time. But it was so nice down there with the view and the weather was just amazing. I feel like I’m constantly repeating myself but the weather up in the Netherlands has been awful for the last couple of days, so it was so nice to have such warm weather.

IMG_8076

IMG_8108IMG_8202

At 6.30pm we got kind of hungry, so we went to this Sushi restaurant. Sushi probably wasn’t the most traditional choice but the food was amazing. Later on we went to the next super market, bought some wine and took the next bus back to my friend’s place. Once we got back we grabbed a blanket, wine and some cookies and chilled out on my friend’s balcony until it got too dark. Even though it was such a simple night and we only had a bit of wine it was one of the best nights I’ve had in a long time. Just sitting on that balcony with a really nice view so far away from everything at home with two of my closest friends was so nice and just made me so happy.

IMG_8111

The next day we kind of just hung out, walked around the city again and made some pizza before we had to head back home on Saturday evening at around 6pm again. Even though we basically spend around 14 hours on the road just to spend two days down there it was one of the coolest trips I’ve had recently. I can’t even describe how nice it felt to just get away for a wile from just everything basically. Obviously it was so cool to see two of my best friends again and just hang out and have fun and don’t worry about a thing. I didn’t even mind the long car ride. In fact, I actually enjoyed it. I like car rides anyway and just going on a little road trip adventure with someone I’ve known for years was such a fun experience because we could literally talk for 7 hours straight and the landscape, especially the further South we got, was so pretty to look at. I almost felt like I was in one of those American road trip movies.

IMG_8187

I know today’s post is quite different from my usual beauty posts but I just wanted to share my amazing trip with you. Now that I’m back I feel so much happier and relaxed and like I can actually take on all of my exams. Basically if you get an opportunity to just get away from everything, even if it’s just for a day or two, grab it because it feels so liberating in a way. So this is me encouraging you all to just do something crazy and enjoy yourselves!

I hope you enjoyed today’s post!

Much love,

Sophie
