When it comes to eyeshadow I’m a glitter girl all the way. Now when I’m talking glitter I don’t mean super sparkly disco ball looking like glitter but shimmery metallics or eyeshadow with a pearl or velvet finish. I hardly ever use mattes and hence don’t really own a lot. While I was in England a little while back I stumbled upon this Makeup Revolution Essential Mattes palatte while I was actually looking for their Essential Shimmers palette. Unfortunately that one was sold out, so I went and took a closer look at the Essential Mattes palette. Since it’s only 4 pounds and I don’t own a lot of mattes I figured it would actually be a lot smarter to go for this palettes as it claims to include all the essential matte shades you will ever need.
I’m incredibly surprised by myself but I’ve been reaching for this palette almost on a daily basis. Usually I switch my makeup look up all the time but I’m currently home working on a lot of stuff for uni until my 4th semester begins next February. Since I’m quite busy with writing my essays I don’t leave the house too often and just don’t feel like putting a lot of effort into my make up or changing it up. It’s not like I’m going anywhere special anyway. Basically I’ve loft applying one of the soft pinky nudes all over my lid and either using the chocolate-brown or the taupe shade in my crease. It takes me 2 minutes and I have a more defined eye look and ready to go out the door to run some errands or meet up with some friends.
When I first got my Makeup Revolution Flawless palette I reviewed it on the blog and declared my love for it. The Essential Mattes palette is just another amazing palette I really freaking love. It pretty much does contain all the matte shades you would ever need for a basic eye make up. You’ve got a few light pinky nude shades to choose from, you have some beige and browns including a chocolatey brown, a perfect taupe and a black (which is just super essential) Additionally it also includes 2 purple lilac shades and this gorgeous blue-green teal like color (sorry, I suck at describing colors), which gives you some shades to experiment with and add a hint of color.
The pigmentation of the shades is surprisingly really nice and they are just so perfectly easy to blend. If you apply your eye makeup in the morning the color intensity will fade a little throughout the day but it does last, so you won’t need any touch ups – at least I didn’t. I think for four pounds you really can’t go wrong with this and I would totally recommend this to anyone looking to get some matte shades!
Thanks for reading!
Much love,
Sophie

You should try them out! I’ve accumulated quite the collection of their products by now and I can honestly say I haven’t come a crossed a single one I didn’t like! xx
I have the urban decay naked palette but also find i am reaching more and more for this one. I love all the colours and the price
I have the Naked 3 but I’ve been loving this since it’s all matte shades. You definitely can’t beat the price:)
This is a really nice range! Usually matte palettes just have a ton of neutral shades.
That’s exactly why I really wanted this one. I love the combination of shades it offers.
