January Haulin’

Okay, so today’s post is a sneaky not so little haul, that was totally not planned. Actually this wasn’t supposed to happen at all because I didn’t want to spend any money on make up all throughout January but I guess I just did it anyway because, well, no self control! I’d bought quite a few make up with my Christmas money in the beginning of January, and I wanted to leave it at that. Somehow I ended up buying things anyway ( I swear they all must have appeared in my room magically) and I’ve now noticed that it were quite a few, so here’s a January Haul for you guys.SAMSUNG CSC

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

This is the first make up item I bought this month and I feel like it doesn’t completely count because it’s more like a repurchase. This is one of my absolute favorite foundations. I’m always torn between this one and my Dior Star foundation but I could never pick one of them because I love them for different reasons. Anyway.. my old double wear was a few shades too dark, like seriously too dark. I’d bought it over the summer when I apparently had much more of a tan. When the Dior foundation came out I got totally obsessed with that one forgot about my love for double wear. However, I recently used it again and got reminded of why I love this foundation so much. It’s so long lasting and has such great coverage; it makes my skin look so good. When I discovered that it was definitely too dark for me at the moment I was pretty gutted and there was no way I could work with it. Eventually I caved in and ordered it a few shades lighter. It’s a much better match now and I’m so glad to have this back in my collection in a shade I can actually wear.

The Born Pretty Store Lip Products*

I received a lip crayon in more of a neutral shade and two bright pink lip stick by the Born Pretty Store this month. I adore the design of the lip crayon and I love the shade I have it in. It’s more of a neutral shade and almost like a your lips but better shade that adds some nice volume to your lips but it is slightly darker despite it looking a lot darker swatches it’s a bit lighter on the lips. One of the lipsticks they sent me is quite sheer and adds a nice glossy pink shimmer to your lips. The other one is just bright pink and more of a matte. I’m actually really looking forward to Spring and Summer because I know I’ll be getting a ton of use out of those pink lipsticks. Gotta a love a bright pink in Spring and Summer.

Maybelline Brow Drama

I don’t really have the best relationship with my brows. I’m naturally blonde but somehow my brows ended up being pretty dark, which, I guess, is one of the reasons a lot of people ask me if I dye my hair even though no blonde color has ever even come near my hair. I don’t have the thinnest brows either, so I always struggle a bit with what to do with them. I’ve heard a lot about Maybelline’s Brow Drama Sculpting mascara, so I figured I could just give it a go. I got it in the shade medium brown and it’s a pretty good match. So far I’m really liking it.

SAMSUNG CSC

Milani Blushes

I reviewed the Milani blush in the shade Corallina not too long ago and a few people commented and recommend Luminoso to me so I went out and got it alone with the shade Berry Amore. I’ve only tried each of them once because I got them very recently, so I can’t say too much but I have a feeling I will love them just as much as Corallina as both shades are pretty stunning in the pan as well as when swatched.

Jo Malone

I’ve seen Jo Malone’s perfumes and candles on Instagram and a few different blogs so many times now and I always read such great things about them I really got curious. Plus I just adore the packaging. It looks so beautiful and luxurious, doesn’t it? So I decided I wanted to try one of the fragrances and payed a visit to a Jo Malone counter. I was so impressed with how lovely and helpful the staff was. They introduced me to a bunch of different fragrances and really did a great job with helping me decided on one. I eventually went for Blackberry & Bay and I’m head over heels with this. It just smells divine!

Urband Decay Naked On The Run

To be honest I never intended to buy this. The Naked On The Run palette has been dominating my Instagram feed over the last few weeks and though it is absolutely stunning I convinced myself I wasn’t going to need it. When I saw it in reality in a store yesterday I couldn’t help myself though. The packaging is stunning and just on point. You get 6 eyeshadows, a blush, a bronzer, a gloss, an eyeliner and mascara in one of the prettiest little boxes I’ve ever laid my eyes on. Since I found out I passed a very important exam I honestly thought I had failed yesterday I decided it was okay to treat myself and ended up buying it. The more I look at it the happier I am I did buy it. I played around with the palette this morning and OH MY GOSH I’m in love with it even more now. I probably won’t review it as basically everyone else already has but I might use it for a make up look some time soon if anyone is interested.

SAMSUNG CSC

This concludes my little haul. If there’s anything you’d like to see a more in depth review of just let me know and I’d be more than happy to write one.

Have you treated yourself to anything nice lately?

Have a great weekend everyone!

Much love and thank you for reading,

Sophie

Zoeva Classic Brush Set Review

If you follow me on Instagram or/and Twitter you might have seen me posting about how I finally caved in and bought a set of Zoeva brushes a while ago. I’ve been using them every day for the past 3 weeks and I thought why not write a little review. I know, there are already a ton of reviews of these brushes out there, so one more won’t hurt, right?

SAMSUNG CSCSAMSUNG CSC

Now, Zoeva offers a bunch of different sets and after some contemplating I went for the Classic Brush Set. I figured you can’t go wrong with a set that basically includes all of the basic brushes you could ever need for a make up look. As pretty as the Rose Gold Set is I went for the classic black and silver one just because I like when everything matches, so if I want to expand my Zoeva brush collection I won’t have a bunch of rose gold brushes mixed in with black and silver. Maybe it’s just me and I’m weird like that but I just prefer to have them matching.

SAMSUNG CSC

The brushes came with this lovely classic black leather bag, that is actually quite big, so you can definitely fit loads of brushes in. I love how the brushes come with this bag because it’s perfect to store them in there if you’re going somewhere and want to bring all of your brushes.

SAMSUNG CSC

First off I want to say a few things about the brushes in general before I go into detail with each brush individually. This set doesn’t include a single brush I don’t get any use out of.  With this set you get four face brushes and four eye brushes and all of them are so incredibly soft. I’m in no way an expert when it comes to make up brushes. I’m probably more of the opposite but these brushes are made with a combination of real and synthetic hair and I think this is their secret as to why they give you such a flawless application.  I definitely use almost all of these brushes on a daily basis and I’m not gonna lie my make up definitely looks better now, especially my base and my gel liner. Another aspects I’m also really impressed with is how easy they are to wash. My other brushes always took ages to dry off after washing, which is why I hated to wash them because they wouldn’t be dry enough to use them the next day. However, with these I wash them and then dry them off with a towel and a few minutes later they’re good to go again!

SAMSUNG CSC

125 Stippling Brush

I have to admit I barely ever used a foundation brush before because I only had those that look like paint brushes and using them takes absolutely for ever and I just couldn’t ever be bothered. With this stippling brush I can apply my foundation in no time and it also helps creating such a flawless finish. I’m just so happy with it.

128 Cream Cheek

You’re supposed to use this brush for either any type of cream blush, bronzer etc or blush in general but I actually use it for contouring. The angled shape really helps me with contouring in the hollows of my cheeks because it just fits so nicely.

105 Luxe Highlight

As the name already suggests this brush is meant for highlighting and it does a damn good job. The way it’s shaped really let’s you be very precise with your highlighter, so it doesn’t go everywhere.

142 Concealer Buffer

This is the one brush I use every single day without any exceptions. I use concealer every day and this is just perfect for buffing your concealer into the skin really nicely and gently.

227 Luxe Soft Definer

I like to use this brush for applying any eyeshadow across my entire lid.

228 Luxe Crease

In general I prefer to use an angled brush for applying eyeshadow within my crease but this brush is amazing for blending. I pretty much use this every day for blending out the shade I apply in my crease and it’s amazing!

230 Luxe Pencil

Another brush I use pretty much every day. I love using this in my outer v because it’s great if you want to create some depth and darken certain areas. It’s also amazing for applying eyeshadow along the waterline (which I do a lot) and I sometimes use it in my crease when I’m to lazy to get my angled brush out.

317 Wing Liner

I love a good old winged eyeliner! So far I’ve used a liquid liner to achieve mine though I definitely prefer the look of gel eyeliner as they often appear to be even more black and seem to last longer. Unfortunately I never found an eyeliner brush I really liked using. But this one is a total game changer. My winged eyeliner has never looked this good and it’s never been so easy to create it in the first place.

I can honestly say I’m incredibly impressed with these brushes and I totally get the hype they are surrounded with at the moment. I use mine every single day and I probably will add a few more of their brushes to my collection. They aren’t the cheapest brushes out there but they definitely are a great and much more affordable option to Mac and Bobbi Brown and all those other incredibly expensive high end brushes.

Have you tried any Zoeva brushes? What are your thoughts on them?

Much love,

Sophie

A Great Palette For Those Glitter Lovers *

Hey lovelies,

I hope you’re all well. I’m finally done with all my exams for this semester and now have a few days off until my 4th semester starts next Monday. But before I get into today’s post I just wanted to thank you all for reaching 500 followers over here on WordPress. I know this is such a small number compared to other bloggers out there but it really means the world to me because when I first started my blog I only started it with the intention of having a little place where I could just write and I never ever believed that people would actually follow me and come back to read more. Every little comment or like means so much to me and always puts a huge smile on my face, so seriously a huge thank you to all of you who read my little blog! Okay, before this gets even cheesier let’s get into today’s post, shall we?

 SAMSUNG CSC

When the lovely people over from the Born Pretty Store contacted me a little while ago about whether I wanted to try out some more of their products, I was so excited because I’ve loved all of their products I’ve tried before. As I was looking through their website one item, which immediately caught my eye was this lovely little palette.

SAMSUNG CSC

I absolutely adore the design of it and it contains 12 glittery shades. If you’ve read my blog before you know how much I love my shimmery eyeshadows, so a palettes consisting of only glitter eyeshadows sounds pretty damn amazing to me. Now as I’ve just mentioned the palette consists of 12 lovely shades and it offers you a nice range of shades as well. You get a light blue, a mint green (one of my favorite colors), a few different shades of pink and some stunning brown and bronzed shades (my favorites) as well as 3 gorgeous silver/grey shades.

I was really impressed with how pigmented the shadow were and one aspect I really love is that they are glittery but they aren’t too glittery, so that you can only wear them for special occasion. They just have the perfect amount of glitter in them, which makes them wearable for the day as well as for a sparkly night out look.

 SAMSUNG CSC

My favorite shades are without a doubt the four shades at the very right because I’m a sucker for bronzy shades. They compliment my blue eyes really well and I’m more of a neutrals type of girl when it comes to eyeshadow most of them time. However, I also love the light blue and the mint green shade this palette includes. I can totally see myself wearing these in Spring a lot. I, personally, don’t wear pink eyeshadow too much but if you love pink these are some seriously stunning colors and I will try to incorporate them into my Spring and Summer eye make up this year for a bit of a girly touch.

SAMSUNG CSCSAMSUNG CSC

In general I think this would be a great palette for everyone who has a weakness for glitter. These are some gorgeous glitter shades that you can either use for a bit of a more glammed up neutral look or a you can go all out and create a sparkly night out look with the silver colors. And you can always add in a touch of color with some of the other shades.

If you like this palettes or are interested in the products the Born Pretty Store offers you can head on over to their website here.  I also have a little discount code for you if you decided to place an order, which is WEEG10.

I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post!

A Current Lip Liner Obsession

As I mention on here quite frequently I’m obsessed with all sorts of lip products, so lip liners sure aren’t an exception. I like to mix up my lip products all the time but there’s one I’ve rediscovered and have been wearing constantly ever since and that is my Maybelline Super Stay Lip Liner.

The shade that I’ve been wearing so much is the number 41 Rosewood. I can’t tell you why but I’m really liking that name. So the packaging obviously isn’t the best as this is quite cheap lip liner but it is pretty decent after all. I’m a bit annoyed that you have to twist the bottom half of the liner in order for the product to come out because it sometimes doesn’t work too well but then again you don’t have to sharpen it, so that’s a plus.

IMG_2608IMG_2609

At first I never liked how thin the liner was because it takes quite a while to fill in your entire lips but it really lets you be incredibly precise when lining your lips, which I grew to like a lot! So onto the actual color. I’d say Rosewood is a nice dusty rose shade, which is almost like a your lips but better kind of shade. I’m not the best at describing colors but this is one of the prettiest nude shades I own, to be honest, which is probably why I’ve been wearing it so much lately. It’s a complete matte finish and it really gives your lips a much fuller look but still keeps them natural looking.  One thing I dislike a little is that it can be a bit drying but if you prime your lips properly you should be fine.

SAMSUNG CSC

This has been one of my go to lip liners recently as it’s the perfect every day color and it lasts really long, so I thought I’d share it on here.

Have a lovely Sunday,

Sophie

Cause True Friendship Really Doesn’t Know Distance

Korfu 2012 926

I was inspired to write this post by a lovely email I got this morning from a very special friend of mine. You know how people always say true friendship knows no time or distance? That you can go weeks without talking to someone and nothing will change? I feel like that kind of friendship is very rare and very special and if you do ever experience such a friendship you should hold on to it and never let go. Like never ever in a million years because you probably won’t find such a thing again.

So how do I begin with this post? Well, let’s start with a bit of background information. Until nearly four years ago I used to live in a small town within the greater New Orleans area in Louisiana, but in June 2011 I moved away from there. While I was living there I went to a very small private school but nonetheless I had a bunch of great friends. Now nearly 4 years later I’m still in touch with a few of them but there’s one friend I made there, who is just extra special to me. We met on my first day when I was still a newbie at that school and we immediately got along. You know when you meet someone and somehow everything fits together perfectly and you’re just like where have you been all my life? It was kind of like that. We started hanging out all the time and I could literally talk to her about anything without feeling weird. Usually I’m not that kind of person who talks about their feelings or worries or anything too personal very much but with her it was different. She’s one of the few people I could be completely myself with because I knew for a fact that she would never ever judge me no matter what.

Now four years later we’re still in touch. We don’t talk that often and we haven’t seen each other in person in 4 years but whenever I get an email from her or whenever we actually do manage to find the time to Skype it just feels so familiar and so natural. I can still open up to her about anything even though we’re nearly 5000 miles apart, I haven’t seen her in so long and we don’t talk on a regular basis. But it literally makes no difference. Whenever I hear from her it just takes me straight back to 16 year old me having a blast at those Friday night football games or stressing about finding the perfect dress for homecoming with one of the best friends I could’ve ever asked for.

For years we’ve been making these plans about me coming back to Louisiana and visiting her or her coming over to Europe. We even thought about traveling Europe together over the summer and made all these crazy plans. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to turn anything into reality yet but since we’re both turning 20 this year our plans actually do become a bit more realistic.

Ever since I was little we’ve moved around a lot. I’ve already lived in 9 different cities in 3 different countries. The longest I’ve ever lived in the same place was for 5 years.  I’ve met a bunch of people in my life and I know what it’s like to have to say goodbye to your friends not knowing when or if you will ever see them again. I also know what it’s like to be the new kid all the time. When I was younger I had good friends as well. Friends I would have called my best friends at the time but every time I moved away again I would eventually lose contact to them.

I feel like a friendship in which you can be 100% yourself is very rare and I’m so glad I’ve found a friend like that, even though we may be living miles apart at the moment it doesn’t change anything between us at all and I find that to be such a beautiful thing. Her emails still make my entire day and if there’s ever a time when I’m really down and need to talk to someone she’s the first person I turn to because I know for a fact that she will always be there for me just like I’ll always be there for her no matter what.

So as I’ve already said in the beginning of this post if you ever find a friendship that can’t even be separated by miles and miles hold on to it. Cause who needs those so-called friends who can’t even take a minute out of their day to text you back when you have a friendship like that, right?

As always thanks so much for reading!

Lots of love,

Sophie

Traveling By Yourself – The One Day I Went To Amsterdam By Myself

IMG_3107

As I’ve mentioned in my last blog post I want to attempt making my content more diverse again so here it goes. If you’ve read my blog for a while you may remember that one time I went to Amsterdam and how I went all by myself. So I’m currently living in the Netherlands (has it really been 1.5 years since I moved here?) and I moved here in the summer of 2013 to go to University over here and hopefully get my BA degree, but that’s a whole other story.

Anyway… the city I live in is about an hour and a half long train ride away from the Netherlands capital Amsterdam, which I’ve been wanting to visit for the longest time. So about a year ago I went to the train station, bought a ticket and hopped on the next train to Amsterdam all by myself. I was definitely a bit nervous because Amsterdam is a pretty big and busy place and obviously I don’t know my way around there nor do I know anyone living there. Additionally my Dutch wasn’t very good at all then. It’s still not that great, especially my spoken Dutch, but I understand it pretty good now and I can read it, so that’s definitely progress. Back then I couldn’t say much in Dutch at all though, so I was a bit afraid I might get lost somewhere and then wouldn’t be able to communicate all too well with people. Luckily that didn’t happen.

When I arrived in Amsterdam once left the train station I found myself basically right in the middle of Amsterdam and it was absolutely crowded and full of tourists everywhere. But the weather was great and I fell in love with the way the city looked immediately. It is such a charming and beautiful place I couldn’t get enough of it. I was all by myself and didn’t really make a plan of what I wanted to do before I left, so I just started walking. I walked around the center of the city and just tried to take everything in, that I came across. There was so much to see and I wish I could’ve stayed longer but it was still so cool to finally be there. After some more walking around I went to get a coffee and something to eat and sat down near this incredibly crowded square like place and just watched people passing by. I can’t really explain why but I just felt so happy and free. I was in Amsterdam, a city I’ve been wanting to go to for ages and I was there all by myself and no one could tell me what to do. It was so nice to just sit there and enjoy the moment.

IMG_3116IMG_3090

Later on I went to start exploring some little streets a bit further away from the center before I  went down to the riverside and just watched the boats pass by. One thing I unfortunately didn’t get to do and still haven’t managed to do is a canal tour! But it’s still on the very top of my to do list and I’m kind of hoping that maybe I can do it this summer.

So what am I trying to say with this post? Well, as much as I love traveling with my family or with my friends it was nice to go on a little trip all by myself even if it was just for a day. I got to do something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now and I enjoyed every single moment of it. Especially the fact that I got to do it by myself totally changed my entire experience. It allowed me to take everything in without being urged to move on. I had time to just enjoy the moment and reflect on a lot of different things and it gave me a change of scenery though if only for a day. Another thing I liked was how I found myself having conversations with people I’ve never met before. At the train station I met this incredibly nice girl who just started talking to me out of nowhere and I’m glad she spoke English because like I said my Dutch was horrendous as the time. All together I just had an amazing day and I would totally do it again any time. I think I might need to make a list of other cities the Netherlands have to offer and just go exploring. Maybe I’ll pick something close to the sea next time.

IMG_3108IMG_3091

So if there’s a certain place near you, or maybe even further away, you’ve always wanted to go to just go ahead and do it. As much as I love hanging out with my friends it was nice to just have some time all to myself. When you’re going to University you rarely ever get that because either your busy on campus or most students live in a shared apartment or dorm, so you’re always surrounded by people.

Now this post was definitely quite different to my usual posts but I hope you enjoyed reading it anyway and I would love to hear your thoughts!

Much love,

Sophie

A Little Update & My Current Favorite Face Mask

Hey there!

I know I’ve been blogging a bit inconsistently lately but I’ve been insanely busy with exams and I’ve just been lacking the motivation to be honest. I love blogging. I really do! But lately I feel like I’ve just been writing beauty review after beauty review and as much as I love testing out new products and reviewing them here on my little blog, I’d love to switch things up a bit. When I first started blogging my main theme was still beauty but I feel like my blog used to be a lot more diverse. I used to write way more lifestyle posts or throw in a recipe or something fashion related every once in a while. Especially writing lifestyle posts was something I really enjoyed writing but since I’ve been so busy with writing papers and studying for exams I just haven’t really come up with anything I actually want to write about.

I still have a ton of beauty items I really want to review but I hope that I can go back to having  some more diverse content soon. Now since I’ve been stressing out about exams there’s one face mask that helped me relax a little while also improving my skin and it’s the Body Shop Warming Mineral Mask. My favorite thing about this mask is that it warms up when you apply it to your skin and it feels absolutely amazing and so calming.

IMG_2508

Since I have quite the sensitive skin many face masks sometimes sting a little bit when I first apply them. This one, however, didn’t do that at all but actually felt really good on my skin from the first second on. I’ve used it several times now and I can honestly say I’ve seen a difference in my skin. It looks a lot more clear, healthy and glowing, which I’m so happy about. My skin is usually pretty clear but lately it’s been acting up for some reason, which has been annoying me. Ever since I started using this mask my skin has cleared up a lot. The consistency is very nice as well. It’s pretty thick and creamy but not too thick, if you know what I mean.

I can definitely recommend this face mask as it feels so so nice on my skin and I’ve actually seen improvement in my skin very fast. What more could I want from a mask?

I hope that once my exams are over inspiration hits me and I will be happy with my content again.

Thanks for reading!

Much love,

Sophie

Sleek Blush By 3 in Lace

IMG_2486

If you’ve seen my London make up haul you might recognize this little blush palette. You might also remember that I bought it by accident (I actually wanted a different one) and was a bit shocked by the bright colors because I didn’t expect them and I usually stick to might soft pinks and corrals when it comes to blush. But since I spent my money on this I thought I might as well just give it a go and see what happens and I have to admit I’m actually really glad I ended up with this palette.

IMG_2484

Sleek is quite known for their highly pigmented blushes and these are by far no exception, which scared me even more at first because these colors are so out of my comfort zone. So if you’re not familiar with the blush by 3 sleek palettes.. well basically you get 3 stunning and very pigmented blushes in a handy sleek looking little packaging, which is perfectly sized for on the go and traveling.

IMG_2483IMG_2489

Let’s start of with the first shade. It’s called Crochet and it’s a rather light but still very bright matte orange. I’m a lover of soft peachy shades but I’ve never tried a blush like Chrochet before. I always thought oranges would never suit my skin type as I’m quite pale. Nonetheless I’ve used this blush a few times now and I have to admit that I do like it although it’s not my favorite in this palette. The good thing about this blush is that you can really build it up, meaning that you can also make it look very subtle. I really like the way it warms up my complexion but I do think this would be an even better shade for anyone with a nice tan or if you have a darker skin complexion anyway.

SAMSUNG CSC

Now on to the shade in the middle, which is by far my favorite shade from the palette aside from the fact that I have no idea how to pronounce it. Good thing I don’t have a YouTube but just a blog so I can type it out. It’s called Guipure and it’s the most beautiful stunning rose gold with a hint of peach. This blush is the only shimmery one in the palette and it’s very universal. I’d say it would look good on almost everyone. Unfortunately the camera didn’t really pick it up but it gives you the most stunning shimmery glow and it’s perfect for an every day look.

SAMSUNG CSC

Last but definitely is the shade Chantilly, which is a bright dark but matte corral and the one shade that scared me the most after swatching it. It is just such a loud shade and I usually never go for bright blushes. I always keep it fairly natural so this one was definitely a bit of a challenge for me but after testing it out this is the blush that surprised me the most from this palette. It is very bright but you can play it down a bit and blend it to create more of a subtle look. This might be a color I’ll be pulling out in the summer a lot for a fun and colourful look. So in the picture on the left I applied it a bit more heavily while on the right it’s very subtle.

SAMSUNG CSCSAMSUNG CSC

Have you tried this palette yet? What are your favorite sleek blushes!

Thanks for reading!

Have a lovely weekend!

All The Mattes You Need

IMG_2452

When it comes to eyeshadow I’m a glitter girl all the way. Now when I’m talking glitter I don’t mean super sparkly disco ball looking like glitter but shimmery metallics or eyeshadow with a pearl or velvet finish. I hardly ever use mattes and hence don’t really own a lot. While I was in England a little while back I stumbled upon this Makeup Revolution Essential Mattes palatte while I was actually looking for their Essential Shimmers palette. Unfortunately that one was sold out, so I went and took a closer look at the Essential Mattes palette. Since it’s only 4 pounds and I don’t own a lot of mattes I figured it would actually be a lot smarter to go for this palettes as it claims to include all the essential matte shades you will ever need.

IMG_2450

I’m incredibly surprised by myself but I’ve been reaching for this palette almost on a daily basis. Usually I switch my makeup look up all the time but I’m currently home working on a lot of stuff for uni until my 4th semester begins next February. Since I’m quite busy with writing my essays I don’t leave the house too often and just don’t feel like putting a lot of effort into my make up or changing it up. It’s not like I’m going anywhere special anyway. Basically I’ve loft applying one of the soft pinky nudes all over my lid and either using the chocolate-brown or the taupe shade in my crease. It takes me 2 minutes and I have a more defined eye look and ready to go out the door to run some errands or meet up with some friends.

IMG_2447

When I first got my Makeup Revolution Flawless palette I reviewed it on the blog and declared my love for it. The Essential Mattes palette is just another amazing palette I really freaking love. It pretty much does contain all the matte shades you would ever need for a basic eye make up. You’ve got a few light pinky nude shades to choose from, you have some beige and browns including a chocolatey brown, a perfect taupe and a black (which is just super essential) Additionally it also includes 2 purple lilac shades and this gorgeous blue-green teal like color (sorry, I suck at describing colors), which gives you some shades to experiment with and add a hint of color.

FullSizeRender

The pigmentation of the shades is surprisingly really nice and they are just so perfectly easy to blend. If you apply your eye makeup in the morning the color intensity will fade a little throughout the day but it does last, so you won’t need any touch ups – at least I didn’t. I think for four pounds you really can’t go wrong with this and I would totally recommend this to anyone looking to get some matte shades!

NYX Powder Blush in Taupe – The Perfect Contour for Pale Skin?

IMG_2407

Contouring alone can be quite tricky already but if you’re more on the pale side (like me) using the wrong shade can easily turn your attempt of defining your cheekbones into an orangey, muddy nightmare. Now, the NYX powder blush in the shade taupe is incredibly hyped up because apparently it’s the perfect shade to contour with for everyone, who is pale. Since I’m pretty pale and have a constantly growing love for the brand NYX anyway I decided it was time to finally test out the blush myself and see if it’s really worth the hype.

IMG_2410

First off the packaging obviously isn’t the fanciest but NYX is a high street brand and as long as you get good quality for a reasonable price I don’t mind the packaging too much. It’s still quite handy for travelling as it’s not too chunky. And in the case of this blush the price is pretty much unbeatable.

One big plus I absolutely love about this blush is that’s it’s not that pigmented. If you contour, it can sometimes be very easy to go over the top but then having to go back trying to blend everything out can take forever and be very annoying. That’s exactly why I prefer using a product that is not too pigmented because it’s always easier to build up the contour then applying to much at once and having to blend blend blend.

The one thing that makes this blush most suitable for pale skin is the color though. Taupe is, like the name already suggest, a greyish cool toned  matte taupe shade, which creates the perfect most natural looking shadow on your face. The fact that it does create such natural shadows really does make it a great option for contouring.

I’ve been using this to contour for a few weeks now and I can honestly say it’s worth the hype. If you’re pale and are looking for an affordable yet good product to contour with this is the one you should go for. I find myself reaching for this all the time!

Have you tried this blush? What are your thoughts on it?
