November Favorites

Who else can’t believe it’s basically December? I definitely can’t! November pretty much flew by but I’m so excited for December. It’s always one of my favorite months. I just love counting down the days to Christmas, decorate everything all festive and go Christmas shopping for my loved ones. It’s just the best time of the year, isn’t it?

But let’s go back to November. It’s been a pretty great month and I definitely have a little list of products I’ve been loving/using the most this month! Let’s get right into it, shall we?

IMG_1110

Today I’m going to start with some face products. Two of my favorite blushes this month have been my Gosh Natural Blush in 42 Watermelon and my Makeup Revolution Blushing Hearts blush in Peachy Keen. The Gosh one is more of a matte peachy blush and looks absolutely gorgeous for an every day look. The Makeup Revolution one actually offers three shimmery shades ranging from a golden peach to more of a soft pink but all shades are gorgeous. Basically these two blushes are almost the only ones I’ve been using all throughout this month as I’ve loved them so much. One product I’ve mentioned quite a lot on my blog before is the Kiko Golden Gamer Sculpting Bronzer but I just really enjoy using this product as it’s so good and I think I’ve used this almost every day of November, so I just had to include it in my favorites. I’ve written a full review blog post on it in case you want to read more.

IMG_1116

Next up is this amazing palette. It’s the Makeup Revolution 32 Eyeshadows Flawless palette and I’ve used this nearly every day ever since I received it. It’s so affordable, the eyeshadows are amazing and it’s up there with my favorite palettes at the moment. Just look at these stunning shades! I can’t wait to blog some Holiday Make Up looks with this palette.

IMG_1118

Another eye product I’ve been loving this month is my Mac Pigment in the shade Mauvement. I got this a couple of years ago as part of the Mac Tartan collection and it’s been somewhere in the back of my make up drawers until I rediscovered it this month. Mauvement is a gorgeous bronzed taupe kind of shade and I can’t believe I haven’t used it in so long as it is absolutely gorgeous.
The only lip product I’m including in this month’s favorites post is the Essence XXXL lip gloss in the shade soft nude. The color is an amazing brownish nude that is more on the darker side and I really like that this gloss comes with a matte effect!

IMG_1120

Last but not least here are two mascaras I’ve been loving lately! I received the Born Pretty Store mascara very recently but have been quite blown away by its great performance. It makes my lashes incredibly long and the design is the coolest I’ve ever seen. One mascara I’ve rediscovered in November is my Bobbi Brown Intensifying Long-Wear Mascara! I got this a little while back and somehow forgot about this as I have a ridiculous amount of mascaras. However I found this in one of my make up bags in the beginning of the month and have been using it a lot as it defines my lashes so well!

And now we’ve already come to an end. Which products have you been liking/using the most in November?

Smashbox Full Exposure Mini Palette

IMG_1083

Before I say anything else, let me just say that this is the tiniest and cutest little nude eyeshadow palette I’ve ever laid my eyes on. It’s so tiny and so adorable and I can’t get over how cute it is. Now with that being said, the Smashbox Full Exposure Mini Palette is a tiny version of the regular Full Exposure palette. It contains 8 shades consisting of 4 shimmer shades and 4 mattes.

IMG_1084

But first let’s talk about the packaging. The eyeshadows come in a sleek little black compact packaging. I knew when I ordered it that it was going to be small because it’s a mini version but I do have to admit I didn’t expect it to be this small. However, I do love the size. It’s so small it will probably fit into your wallet! It’s size makes it absolutely perfect for traveling or when you’re on the go.

IMG_1086

Basically this little beauty combines all the basic shades you could ever need. The 4 matte shades offer a nice brown, a pale pinkish beige, a light highlighter and a taupe shade that is perfect for the crease. I was so impressed with how creamy the matte shadows are. They feel so soft and creamy and are a dream to blend.

IMG_1088

The shimmery shades definitely don’t disappoint either. There’s a beautiful shimmery bronzed shade, a golden beige, a shimmery champagne like shade and greyish silver. The shimmery shades aren’t as creamy and soft as the matte ones but they’re still beautifully pigmented and blend nicely. I think this is a first for me but for one I actually prefer the matte shades in a palette.

IMG_1087

Basically the size isn’t the only thing that is amazing about this palette. I’m absolutely blown away by the matte eyeshadows. Not that the shimmery ones aren’t good, because they are, but the matte ones are just incredible. I’m in love with their texture.

I think this could be a perfect little gift for anyone that loves nude eyeshadow palettes (because you can literally take this one with you wherever you go. It fits in every purse, I’m sure). Then it could also be good for anyone who doesn’t own a lot of palettes and just wants some basic shades because this palette has all the basic shades you could possibly want. With Christmas coming up I think this would be a lovely little present and I’ll be giving one of these as part of a present to my mom for Christmas this year. I’m already so excited to see what she thinks of it and I really hope she loves it as much as I do.

Perfectly Pink Flushed Cheeks

IMG_1037

I bought this little Sleek Blush By 3 palette quite some time ago, when I went to the UK in August last summer. I had heard so many great things about the Sleek blushes before, I just had to try them, so I thought why not try one of their  palettes? I did and I ended up picking up one called Pink Lemonade.

IMG_1036

This palette comes in a compact black little box and contains, as the name already suggests, 3 different pink blush shades, two being powder blushes and one being a cream blush. One thing that I really like about the packaging is that it comes with quite the big mirror, which always comes in handy for traveling.

Now, I really don’t know why I haven’t mentioned this one on my blog earlier as I’m absolutely loving this blush palette. Some people might say pink blushes are more suited for spring and summer but I actually quite like them during the winter time. Mainly because I usually skip out on blush during summer and go more for a bronzed look or I go for a more peachy blush.

IMG_1040

But back to the actual palette. I really love how versatile it is as all blush shades differ immensely. First off Pink Mint is a rather sheer baby pink. It’s quite cool toned and contains some lovely gold glitter particles. It’s very pigmented but I think it’s perfect for pale skin as it is quite sheer after all. But you can always build it up of course.

Macaroon is the cream blush of the palette and definitely a cool toned pink as well. It kind of reminds me of a Barbie pink. It’s very pigmented but still very easy to apply as it blends perfectly even when you just use your fingers. I love how creamy the texture is and it has an amazing staying power. You can either use it on its own or if you want to add a bit of shimmer, you can apply either of the other two blushes on top of it, which will also prolong the wear.

The last shade is Icing Sugar and it’s more of a coral/slightly orange pink. It’s insanely pigmented and has a very metallic like shimmer as it has a frost finish. This one is my personal favorite from the palette because I love how it warms up my complexion and I love the golden shimmer it adds to my cheeks.

IMG_1045

I’m definitely really impressed with this palette and those blushed really deserve all the praise they get. This December I’m already going back to England (I’ll be in London over New Years again. Yaaay) and I have a feeling I might try to get my hands on some more sleek blushes. Any recommendations?

As always thank you so much for reading! Also, I just noticed that I’ve hit 400 followers here on WordPress! Thanks so much to everyone that is reading my little blog, commenting or liking a post. It genuinely makes me so happy and I appreciate it so much!

Love,

Sophie

Contouring on a Budget

Over the past few months contouring seems to have gained quite the popularity and more and more brands are coming out with a bronzer and highlighter combination, made just for contouring. Although I don’t really go all out when it comes to contouring, I do like to use a bit of bronzer and highlighter to define my cheekbones and sometimes I’ll add a bit of  bronzer to my temples. I guess you could say I’m sticking to the basics but I just don’t feel the need to use tons of make up to reshape my entire face and I’m definitely too lazy as well. But to each their own, right?

IMG_1012

However, I’ve tried a few bronzer, highlighter and combinations during the past few months and here are my favorite high street ones because I’m a student on a budget. I feel like all of these make a great and most importantly cheap alternative to the high end options or if you’re just starting to dip your toe into the deep ocean that is contouring and you are looking for somewhere to start.

IMG_1014IMG_1016

Kiko Golden Game Sculpting Bronzer

First up is this lovely combination, which is the priciest option, but it does come with two different bronzer shades and a gorgeous highlight. I really like the fact that this offer you a lighter and a darker bronzing shade because this way you can use either of them or just mix them both. On some days I use the darker shade for contouring and the lighter shade for bronzing and on others I just mix the two of them up. I feel like this is such a great product, which doesn’t just look incredibly gorgeous, but it but works beautifully as well. The two bronzing shades are not overly pigmented and really matte, which means it’s okay if you don’t have a light hand, you won’t end up with just two brown streaks either way. The highlighter shade just adds such a soft, subtle and warm glow to your skin, I’ve really been obsessing over it. All of the shades blend like a dream! What more could you want?

IMG_1018IMG_1020IMG_1019

Bourjois Delice de Poudre Duo

One thing I adore about this little duo is the look of it. It looks just like chocolate and it smells divine. Now, I can’t quite figure out what it smells like but it smells so so so good! Obviously this isn’t that important because what are you gonna do with a bronzer that smells great but sucks otherwise, but it definitely adds a little plus. Even though this probably looks a lot a like the Kiko one to anyone, that’s not really into makeup, for me the two differ quite a lot. The Bourjois bronzing shade isn’t entirely matte unlike the Kiko bronzer. While the Bourjois one is definitely more on the matte side it does contain some golden glitter particles and is a bit more pigmented than the Kiko one. It does blend perfectly as well, as long as you don’t use too much product. If you look at the two highlights they seriously couldn’t be any more different though. I would describe the Kiko highlight as a light shimmery champagne colored shade, that contains a lot of golden glitter particles. In contrast, the Bourjois one is definitely darker and more of a matte rose gold highlight. Both are beautiful and I guess it all depends on your preferences.

IMG_1022IMG_1024

Makeup Revolution The One Blush Stick

Makeup Revolution came out with a line of blush sticks, which consists of 4 different shades, and each is available in a matte and a sheer version. I’ve gone for the matte version of Malibu for contouring and the sheer version of dream, which makes an excellent highlighter. The great thing about these is that they are really travel friendly as the packaging is quite handy and you won’t need a brush to apply these. I just use my finger to dot ht product on where I want to have it and then I blend everything out. Simple as that! These are really great for when you’re in a rush but still want to add a bit of definition to your face!

I can definitely recommend all three of these options but they all differ quite a bit, so it really does depend on your preferences. All three are really easy to use, travel friendly and budget friendly. Though I can’t really pick a favorite the Kiko one is the one I use the most because in general I often prefer a powder to cream and I like that it offers me two different bronzing shades.

A Beauty Of A Mascara

IMG_0796

One thing I can’t leave the house without is definitely mascara! My lashes are quite blonde without it,so you can barely seem them! Hence I absolutely need mascara in my life! Every single day.

One mascara I’ve been absolutely loving lately is the Super-Black Long Lash Mascara from the Born Pretty Store*. The first thing that caught my eye with this one is the beautiful design. Just look at it. How gorgeous is the packaging? I fell in love with it right away. Obviously the packaging isn’t the most important thing about a mascara but after testing it for quite a little while now I love the mascara just as much as I love its packaging. I think this is the perfect mascara for your every day makeup.

It only adds a little bit of volume but quite a lot of length, which is what I really like. During the day I don’t need super voluminous dramatic lashes. I like to kept it more causal, which is why I definitely prefer a mascara that doesn’t go overboard with volume but still adds a lot of length and that’s exactly what this mascara does! Plus it’s waterproof.

The only thing that’s bothers me a tiny bit is that it’s quite hard to remove. It literally stays on my lashes no matter what. In a way that’s also a good thing I guess because it doesn’t smudge at all. And I’ve noticed that even though when I can’t remove everything at night and I wake up the next morning I don’t have racoon eyes. The mascara actually stays in place. I think that’s quite impressive!

So here’s me with no mascara:

IMG_0944

Only one eye with mascara

IMG_0945

and now both

IMG_0946

As you can see there’s definitely quite the difference. It makes my lashes really dark and adds quite a lot of length to them! They actually are quite a bit longer than it looks in the photos but I have to use my phone for blogging at the moment, so that camera obviously doesn’t pick everything up as good as my normal camera. Anyway this is exactly what I look for in a mascara, I can use for my every day makeup! I’ve been using this almost every day for the last two weeks and I’m really loving this one.

Friday Favorites

Thank God it’s Friday, right? This week hasn’t been as crazy as my last week, but I’m always glad when it’s the weekend. So since it’s Friday I wanted to share two products with you, that I’ve discovered this week. Both products are Essence and I absolutely adore them. I don’t know why but lately I’ve been loving Essence as a brand. Their products are so incredibly affordable but still surprisingly good quality!

Actually I went in my local drugstore to have a look at the cream blushes that are included in their newest winter limited edition but they didn’t have them there. The makeup obsessed girl I am I couldn’t leave with nothing though, so I ended up with a little palette and a lip gloss.

IMG_8663

All About Nude in 01 Nude

I have to admit when I spotted this little beauty the first thing that came to my mind was, that it didn’t really look like your typical nude palette, yet the name is all about nude. This palette doesn’t contain any beige, light brown or basically none of your typical nude shades that you would expect to be in a nude eyeshadow palette. It does contain a really light shimmery highlighting shade, two light pinks, a light greyish silver shade, a dark brown and a plum shade. All the shades are gorgeous and allow you to create a lovely neutral look. I really like the light pink shades in combination with the plum and silver greyish shade.

IMG_9187IMG_5034IMG_2266

These eyeshadows don’t have the best pigmentation but they are pigmented quite well and I love how shimmery they are. I just think this is a perfect little palette for the holiday season and it’s definitely quite refreshing compared to your typical nude palettes.

XXXL Longlasting Lipgloss in 06 Soft Nude

I’ve included a lip gloss from the same range but in the shade 05 Velvet Rose in a favorites post earlier this month ad now I’ve finally bought the nude one, which I’ve been wanting to try ever since I tried the Velvet Rose. I love the formula of these lip glosses. They are not sticky at all and feel so moisturizing. But the best thing by far is that they have a matte effect. Basically they are more like a lip cream stain. The lasting power could be a little bit longer but you can’t really complain for the price. The shade is a gorgeous nude which is more not he darker side. I love how it adds a bit of volume to my lips and I’m definitely glad I bought it in this color as well. Who knows? I might add the peach and the red one to my little collection as well.

#TBT: My First Ever Mac Lipstick

My TBT post last week got quite a lot of views, so I decided to to another #throwbackthursday post. This time it is all about my first ever Mac lipstick. I’m a total lip product addict. Lip products are probably my most bought makeup item, to be honest. I have a bit of an obsession. However, if I could only buy lipsticks from one brand for the rest of my life I would chose Mac without a doubt. I know other brand make amazing and beautiful lipsticks as well and as affordable or luxurious or pretty some of them may be nothing can beat my beloved Mac lipsticks. I just feel like they have the longest lasting power, they have an incredible range of shades and let’s not even talk about pigmentation.

IMG_0917 IMG_1260

That being sad, let me introduce you to my first ever Mac lipstick. I bought this one when I was around 14/15, I think, and when I got it it was like the coolest thing ever. My first Mac lippie was actually the Viva Glam Lady Gaga lipstick. So back then I really loved Lady Gaga. I thought she was so different and interesting and I loved how every thing she did always looked so artsy. Additionally I was in, well,  let’s say, kind of a pink phase. Pink was my favorite color back then and I had everything pink, so obviously this lipstick was very appealing to me because it was pink and it said Lady Gaga on it. I was sold!

IMG_0919

If I had to describe the shade I think it’s the most perfect Barbie pink or Bubblegum pink. Back then I used to wear it all the time. I was obsessed with the color and the lipstick was quite creamy and felt so moisturizing. I was my first lipstick that was more on the pricier said, so I was beyond excited to own it. I was in love.

Now, I have to admit I haven’t worn this lipstick in at least 3 years because I most definitely grew out of my pink phase. Pink, especially that shade, is not really my favorite color anymore and I don’t like wearing this lipstick as much as I used to because it is such a Barbie pink and though it does go well with my blonde hair and fair skin I’m not really a fan of the barbie look anymore. When I was 15 I thought it was awesome but nowadays… not so much anymore.  I still like really light nude pinks but just not the bright bubble gum in your face kind of pink.

Nevertheless I still kept it because it was my first ever Mac lipstick and it brought me lots of joy when I was a bit younger. I just can’t bring myself to throw it away.

IMG_0920

What was your first Mac lipstick? Do you still have it?
