June Favorites

It’s crazy but another month has already passed by just like that. June has been quite eventful for me. I spent the first week of June in Chicago, had two weeks to study for my finals when I came back and then I had all my finals and now I’m basically done with Uni until September unless I have to re-take an exam (hopefully not). Despite being busy with revision there’s still been a bunch of stuff that I’ve been loving this month, so let me share them with you guys!

Let’s start with makeup.

SAMSUNG CSC

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

I just recently bought this while in Chicago, so I guess it’s just naturally that I’ve been using it a ton this month. I really like it because you can create so many different looks with this and I’m so glad I did buy it.

Astor Big & Beautiful Lovely Doll Eye Opening Mascara Attractive Black

Okay, I have no idea what kind of person came up with this incredibly annoying long name but despite its awful name I’ve been absolutely loving this mascara recently. I had tried it out a while ago and kind of forgot about it but I re-discovered it this month and since then I’ve been basically using it daily. It gives really long and pretty doll lashes just like the name already promises. The only downside is that the wand always picks up a lot of product ( a little too much) so you have to watch out or otherwise you get mascara everywhere but if you use it carefully this will give you some amazing results for a really affordable price.

Mac Relentlessly Red

This one is another of my Chicago purchases. When I went to the Mac store I knew I wanted to buy Rebel and Diva ( which I did) and then I kind of wanted to swatch a few lipsticks and just buy one I liked. One of my friends I made in Holland is just as obsessed with makeup as me and we went a little crazy in the Mac store swatching a bunch of lipsticks. Relentlessly Red stood out to both of us, which is why I ended up getting it. I’m really glad I did because it turned out to be a perfect summer red. I’ve actually written a review about it, so if you are interested in reading more just click right HERE.

Maybelline Matt Maker Powder

This powder has been a big surprise for me. Originally I wanted to buy Rimmel’s Stay Matte powder because I’d run out of my mine but it was sold out in my shade, so I opted for this. Turns out I absolutely love it and this will be a definite repurchase. As you might be able to tell from the picture I’ve already used it up quite a bit. If you want to read a more detailed review you may click right HERE.

Let’s move on to the skin stuff.

Garnier Ambre Solaire Golden Protect

The sun’s been coming out a lot more this month (Thank God) and since I’m quite pale I always make sure to use enough sunscreen because I don’t like to end up looking like a lobster. Besides sunburns just hurt horribly and the thought of my skin starting to peel off just makes me cringe. So no thanks to sunburns. I rather stay pale then turn red. I like this sunscreen because it has enough SPF to prevent sunburns but it’s not so high that there’s no chance of getting a tan at all. Plus it’s shimmery. Oh yes, it has little shimmer particles, which gives your skin a shimmery glow. If you don’t like being shimmery hands off!

Garnier Ambre Solaire Natural Bronzer

Since I’m pale and don’t want to look like I’m ill next to all of my friends, who for some reason tend to tan much easier than me I go for a bit of a fake tan. I don’t use it massively because I know it just looks weird on me. But I do mix a bit of this with my regular body lotion to get a bit of a tan. Just a tiny one ;)

Garnier Body Ultimate Beauty Oil

Yes, I’m guilty. I’m guilty of letting a commercial influence me to buy something. Okay so I’m quite the fan of Garnier’s hair oil and when I saw a commercial for their new body oil it just made me think hey.. if their hair oil is this good their body oil must be as well. You can probably guess the next part.. next time I went to a store I bought it. It hasn’t disappointed me though. I really like this. It smells great, feels good on my skin and it has made my skin a lot healthier looking. Plus it gives you a bit of a nice summer glow.

SAMSUNG CSC

Last but not least here are just some random favorite things.

Victoria’s Secret Love Spell Fragrance Mist

This smells amazing and lasts surprisingly long for a body mist. Love love love it!

EOS Lip Balm

I have to admit I a little obsessed with these. They smell amazing. They look amazing. They just are amazing. Period.

Dutch Strawberry Wine Gums

I’m not big on wine gums but these might be my new favorite candy. These are sooooo good! And the best thing they are completely free of animal substances. They only use natural flavors and ingredients to make these, which you can definitely taste! I’m obsessed right now.

That’s it already for my June favorites. What have you been loving this month?

My 4 Products for Perfect Summer Skin

So Summer has basically arrived! I still have a bit more to go and then I’ll finally be free and have summer! Gosh, I can’t wait for the sun and being able to reunite with my High School friends, go for walks with my dog and just relax. No more worrying about missing deadlines or failing exams. What a dream.

SAMSUNG CSC

During summer I really like to change up the products I use for my skin. I hate wearing thick make up in summer because I can just feel my skin hating it. So I use a few different products to achieve that perfect flawless summer skin.

Step 1: Coverstick

SAMSUNG CSC

I only use this if I have rather bad blemishes or imperfections to cover them up. I like using coversticks because they are perfect for when you just want to cover up a small part.

Step 2: Concealer

SAMSUNG CSC

Luckily I don’t really get heavy dark circles under my eyes but if it’s only been a short night, concealer can come in quite handy to cover up some tired eyes. So if needed I apply some concealer right under my eyes.

Step 3: BB Cream

SAMSUNG CSC

I’m an absolute BB cream fan! I love love love them! During summer months I tend to just ditch my foundation and wear BB cream instead. I just prefer the lighter coverage because it jut feels like you have nothing on your face and your skin looks still good. Perfect!

Step 4: Translucent Mineral Powder

SAMSUNG CSC

For the summer months I prefer translucent powder over compressed powder because it is so much lighter. When I wear powder for a longer time my skin sometimes feels a bit itchy and I can feel my pores clogging up. Translucent mineral powder still sets my foundation and gives my skin a matte finish but it is so light I don’t even feel it.

This is how I change up my basic skin make up for summer. Do you make any changes?

Nars Contour Blush Review

SAMSUNG CSC

Before I go any further into this I have to admit I, personally, don’t do too much of contouring. Contouring, in general, is an amazing thing because it can change your face in a way and kind of distract from features you are a bit insecure about while highlighting the features you like the most about your face. In general I’m pretty happy with my face, most of the time, (this sounds so weird) but I just don’t feel the need to make my nose look smaller or whatever. I’m also way too lazy to do a whole face of contouring. Basically all I really do is apply some dark blush under my cheekbones and sometimes, when I’m going all out, I’ll apply some contour blush along my hairline. If I really have time I also add some highlighter to my cheekbones.

Okay, now that you know my view towards contouring let’s get into this review, shall we? Since I do a bit of contouring sometimes I thought it was time to finally invest into something more expensive and a bit more professional. Since I’ve heard so many great thing about Nars I decided to give their contouring blush a go and picked it up from a Sephora store.

SAMSUNG CSC

I got mine in Olympia, which is the lightest shade you can get, I believe. The contour blush contains two shades. A light one which is supposed to function as a highlighter and a dark one, which is, obviously, made for contouring

SAMSUNG CSC

Let’s start of with the highlighter. The color is a very light beige ivory kind of color. In fact it is so light it might, depending on your skin, not really show up much on your face. In contrast to many other highlighters out there this is one is actually not shimmery at all but really matte. It’s actually 100% matte and will give you a matte finish. This highlighter reminds me a bit of a really light face powder. Still it did the job for me. It showed up on my skin quite well and gave it an illuminating finish, which is what a highlighter is supposed to do, right?

Moving on to the contour part. The color is a medium beige-brown color and it appears really warm ,which I quite like. For me this is the perfect shade of brown to use for contouring. It is not too light and not too dark. I tend to find it hard to find the right brown shade for contouring because if it is too light it does not really give you the effect you hoped for but if it is too dark your face will look muddy. I don’t want neither of that, please.

SAMSUNG CSC

SAMSUNG CSC

Both shades are really easy to blend and give your skin a perfect matte finish.

What I like about this is that it contains both, highlighter and contour, which is perfect for traveling and it comes in a handy packaging with quite the big mirror.

I’m really glad I bought this and it definitely feeds the needs of my basic contouring, so I can really recommend it.

What are your thoughts on contouring? And what are your favorite products to use?

The Body Shop All In One BB Cream

SAMSUNG CSC SAMSUNG CSC

When I heard about the new BB Cream from the Body Shop I kind of had to have it. I still love my Garnier BB cream but I really wanted to try this one, so I went to the next store and got it.

What’s really interesting about this is that the cream comes out in a white shade that is supposed to turn into your skin color when you blend it all over your face. At first that made me a bit hesitant because I’ve tried out a BB cream like this from Loreal and I absolutely hated it because it turned me orange. I read through some of the online review and some people said it turned really orange on light skin, which immediately reminded me of my horrible experience with the Loreal BB cream. Still I was really curious and bought it anyway. I got it in the lightest shade possible and I do have quite fair skin but it honestly didn’t turn orange on me at all.

This is how it looks right out of the tube:

SAMSUNG CSC

And this is how it looks blended on my skin. Can’t detect any orange. Can you?

SAMSUNG CSC

So do I like it? Yes, I really do. The Body Shop claims that this All In One BB cream will adapt perfectly to your skin tone and give your skin an even finish. That is exactly what it does. It really matched up with my skin tone pretty perfectly and it is really easy to blend. Just as a heads up you really don’t need to apply much of it so use it in small amounts. It gives a light to medium coverage, so it does cover up any minor blemishes. Should you however have really bad break outs or if you are suffering from acne keep in mind that this is meant for light coverage. Hence it will not work miracles and give you perfect skin. I often hear people, who use BB cream, say that they don’t cover all of their break outs. They are not meant to. BB creams are supposed to cover minor blemishes and give you an even skin tone. If you want high coverage you need to go for a high coverage foundation.

I know I will be using this BB cream a lot this summer because it is so much lighter than a foundation and it won’t clog up my pores.

What is your experience with BB creams? Do you have a fave?

EOS Lip Balm Obsession

SAMSUNG CSC

One thing I’d been dying to get my hands on is a EOS lip balm. They just look so cool. I think we should all just take a minute to appreciate the amazing packaging. It’s so so so perfect. Okay sorry! I’m just a little bit obsessed with these right now.

When I was in Chicago I walked into a Walgreens with the purpose of buying one or two EOS lip balms. I didn’t really know which one I wanted, so I just went for my favorite colors mint green and green. After using those a few times I loved them so much I went back and got three more. Now I own them in the flavors mint, honeydew, strawberry sorbet, blueberry, and raspberry.

I’ve already rambled about the packaging but I just love it. It’s so different from every other lip balm and makes it stand out. The actual lip balm itself is pretty good though as well. The texture is really creamy and nice and feels really good on the lips. I feel like it does a good job at moisturising and preventing my lips from drying out. The best thing about these is the smell and the taste though. I swear they smell amazing and they taste so good you just want to lick them off your lips after applying.

SAMSUNG CSC

My absolute faves are mint and blueberry. Not only are those my favorite colors but they also smell and taste so good you just want to eat them. Well if you are a lip product fan like me you will love these.

What do you think of these little cuties? Also make sure to check out my GIVEAWAY!

A Perfect Summer Red: Mac’s Relentlessly Red

SAMSUNG CSC

I’m a massive lipstick lover and a firm believer, that you can pull off almost every lipstick shade all year around depending on how you do it. Still I know a lot of people like to change their lipsticks as the seasons pass. Dark red shades are usually more worn in winter and pink and other bright shades such as coral are loved in summer. But still who says you can’t wear red out on a nice summer’s day? Especially if it’s the perfect summer red and I think I’ve found my perfect summer’s day red in Mac’s Relentlessly Red.

SAMSUNG CSC SAMSUNG CSC

Relentlessly Red is describes as a “bright pinkish coral matte”, which is a pretty good description of the color. It is as a medium-dark, very bright coral-red with pinky undertones. The name of the lipstick might be a bit misleading though because it is definitely not a classic red shade. In my opinion it is more of a summer version of a red lipstick and it would probably look very good with tan skin. I have a bit of a tan on my arm but other than that I’m still pretty pale. Nevertheless it looks good on pale skin as well but I do think it is a color, that would really compliment a tan. Here’s a swatch for you guys!

SAMSUNG CSC

As beautiful as this color is keep in mind, that this is a retro matte lipstick, meaning that you will need to moisturise your lips a lot better before applying this. Otherwise it will cling to every little dry patch and your lips won’t be fabulous summer lips but stained and dry. If you prep your lips with a good lip balm or moisturiser you won’t run into any problems. The lipstick itself is quite long lasting, so you don’t have to re-apply it too often. It will probably last you up to 7 hours. Lastly I have a picture for you on how it looks on the lips. Please excuse the quality though. My camera decided to be an a** today  and kept making my pictures blurry and then the battery died, so I had to use my iPod.

IMG_3669 IMG_3670

If you’re looking for a bright summer lip with a matte finish this is the lipstick you should go for!

Do you wear red lipstick in the summer? Or do you only take them out for a night out and winter time?

Chicago Haul

SAMSUNG CSC

Apart from a bunch of make up I did buy a few other things while in Chicago. I did spend most of my  money on make up and I surprisingly didn’t buy much clothes . Still I’m really happy with the things I got.

SAMSUNG CSC

I have this thing where I love buying clothes from the places I go to. I always think it’s a great souvenir. I have a bunch of those typical I love /NY/London/Pairs etc. You know what I mean, right? Well since we walked around the Campus of the University of Chicago I got this cute sweater at their bookstore. I love love love the colors. If only I could study there but the tuition for colleges in the US are so incredibly high. I always wonder how people pay for that.

SAMSUNG CSC

I’m a really girly girl and I love all things cute and sparkly and apart from shopping for make up I’m a huge sucker for pretty lingerie. I have so much underwear. My mom says I don’t need it all but I just love shopping for pretty underwear and what place is better for that than Victoria’s Secret? Like none! So I splurged quite some money on pretty underwear and I got a body mist as well.

SAMSUNG CSC

I planned on just buying high end make up but I couldn’t resist the EOS lip balms and I really wanted to try a Revlon lip butter.

SAMSUNG CSC

Last but not least I got a Chicago Bears t-shirt. For all of you who don’t really know much about American sports the Chicago Bears is Chicago’s football team. Though my heart will always beat for the New Orleans Saints I did want a shirt from the Bears and it was on sale, so I had to get it. I think it’s a really cool souvenir. I also got a cup from the Chicago White Sox when we went to their game on Monday.

Have a great day!
