What’s In My Travel Beauty Bag? (Part 2)

In my last post I shared my travel cosmetic products with you guys, so today it’s time to share my make up items, that I took with me. I’m planning on buying a bunch of make up items over here in Chicago. Hence I tried to pack light because I need some room for more. I usually bring a bunch of make up along with me but this is a study trip after all meaning that I do have to look appropriate.

For a flawless skin I packed my Rimmel London Match Perfection foundation along with my Rimmel London Stay Matte powder. I packed a concealer and my Catrice Cosmetics Primer as well as my Garnier BB Cream.

I have so many eyeshadows and palettes, so this was a tough decision but I eventually ended up with my Catrice Cosmetics Absolute Nude palette because it contains a few light shades for the days as well as darker ones to glam the look up if needed. Besides this one was pretty cheap, so it wouldn’t hurt too much if it got lost or broken during the flight. Mascara wise I chose this long lashes doll eyes mascara by Astor. The actual name of it is way longer. I’ve really been loving this lately and isn’t the packaging just plain adorable? Some looks need eyeliner so I went with a liquid one from Maybelline.

Cheeks & Lips

I decided to only pack one blush and one lipstick. The lipstick I chose is the Micheal Kors in the shade Diva because it’s a shimmery nude that can sparkle up a simple every day look. The blusher I chose is this gorgeous Catrice Cosmetics all in 4 blush, which contains 4 different shades and therefore makes it perfect for traveling because it can function as a highlighter as well.

My brush collection has grown immensely in the last couple of months, which made it extra hard to choose but I packed my Ebelin travel sized Kabuki brush, one brush to apply blush and one for eyeshadow.

I seriously cannot wait for the beauty shopping in the US and I’m pretty sure I’ll probably bring twice as much make up back as I cam with.

What’s In My Travel Beauty Bag? (Part 1)

The one part I hate about traveling the most is packing! I always overpack and barely make use of half of the things I pack. Hence this time I wanted it to be different. I’m going to fly to Chicago and might suitcase can only weigh 23kg. One of the heaviest things usually aren’t the clothes you pack but the cosmetic products you bring. Since I want to do a lot of shopping in the US I really wanted to pack lightly, so my solution for not packing to many beauty products was buying minis.

Hair & Body

For my hair I bought Guhl’s Blonde shampoo and for my body I got I love’s… lemonade days shower gel. When picking up those two cuties I also spotted a mini body lotion from I love… I got the Ginger Mornings one and it smells amazing.

Unfortunately I can’t pack all of my skin care products and I won’t be having any time to do my entire routine anyways, so I opted for just brining my Body Shop Tee Tree Toner. I packed a bit of sun screen and a Nivea moisturiser as well.

I got a little mini deodorant spray, some mini toothpaste and a few perfume samples because I don’t want to bring an entire bottle of perfume as it is way to heavy.

So these are all of the essentials I’ll be needing for a 12 day trip to Chicago. (I’m spending 3 days up in the air anyway)

High-End Make Up Wish List for Chicago

PicMonkey Collage

My trip to Chicago is only one weekend away. It’s a bit crazy to think about but next Monday I’ll be getting on a plane to fly to the US. My university has made one amazing program for us and we’ll be visiting a bunch of interesting museums and they have several great activities planned for us. Of course we also get a bit of free time to explore the city on our own (not much though), so I’ll sure be spending quite a bit of my free time doing some make up shopping! They just have so much more choice in the US and the products are way cheaper. This is my high-end beauty wish list for the US. I probably won’t end up getting all of it as that would be quite expensive but hey.. a girl can dream

Benefit Cosmetics High Beam

I’ve heard so many great things about this products and now I really want to try it so badly! This is definitely at the very top of my wish list and in the US I can get it for almost half the price.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

Well.. this one is quite obvious. Every beauty blogger has been raving about this one!

Nars Contour Blush

Nars has some really great products but they are pretty much impossible to get in most parts of Europe. I think you can order it from their website but the regular price plus shipping is crazy.

Mac Lipsticks

I love love love Mac lipsticks and in the US they are only 16$, which is like 12€ so I can save about 6 € on each lipstick. I just have to get a few and expand my collection. I’m not entirely sure which shades I want though as there are so many and it’s impossible to choose.

Benefit They’re Real Mascara

Another product, which I’ve heard so many great things about and now desperate to try. Over here it’s about 30€, which is crazy for a mascara which will probably dry out just as fast as one half its price. In the US I can get it for just 23$, which is about 15 or 17€ . That’s like half the price, so I want to take the opportunity to finally give this one a try.

YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush

I’m a pretty big fan of the YSL lip products, so when I heard about the new release of their glosses which function as a blush as well I really wanted to try them. All of the shades look gorgeous but I think I’d go for a pink one.

Too Faced Brow Envy Kit

I absolutely hate my eyebrows. They are really dark, which is so weird because my hair is naturally blonde and usually the color of your brow is somewhat similar to your hair color but in my case it just isn’t. So I’m hoping that with this brow kit I can finally get mine under control.

Bobbi Brown Amnesia Rose Palette

I spotted this beauty of a palette on the Sephora website and immediately fell for the colors. It’s quite pricey but it’s just so gorgeous.

That’s it already. This is my beauty wish list for when I’m in the US. What’s on your current beauty wish list?

Happy Friday!

My Sick Day Essentials

Lately I haven’t been feeling all too well and when I woke up Monday morning I felt so ill I decided to stay home. I hate having to miss out on lectures and seminars because it just means more work in the end because I have to make up a bunch of things, so here are my sick day essentials, that make me feel better quickly.

1. Lots of sleep
While you’re sleeping your body recovers from all the stuff you put it through throughout the day, which is why a good night’s sleep is so important.  Whenever I have a headache or don’t feel well I snuggle up in bed and try to get some sleep, so that my body can rest and get better.

2. Tea and Water
Drink lots of water! Water is so good for you and your body needs it to stay hydrated. I tend to drink not enough water during the day, which sometimes leads to headaches for me.  If you like drinking something warm go for green tea. I’m not much of a tea person but I love green tea. It is so healthy and really good for you.

3. Turn off phone
I’m the kind of person if someone texts me I always try to text back asap because I don’t want to keep them waiting.  This can be really stressful especially when a lot of people are expecting answers and you’re really busy with something else. If I have my phone around me I can never really rest, so if you’re anything like me just turn it off. You will survive it and so will your friends if you are unavailable for a few hours.

4. Comfy Clothes
Nothing is more comforting than your favorite most comfortable clothes.

5. Fruits and Veggies
When I’m sick I’m usually not very hungry, so I like to eat fruits and veggies to get vitamins and energy from them.

This are my five essentials for a sick day, that will usually get me back on track quite fast.

What do you do when you’re not feeling well?

Shopping The Stash – My Most Neglected Products That Shouldn’t Be Neglected

I’ve seen quite a few of these shopping the stash posts lately and they have inspired me to go through my own make up and though I found a bunch of gems in there, that I haven’t used in a while, these products are probably the most neglected ones even though they deserve a lot more attention. So whoever is unfamiliar with shopping the stash – it basically means you go through your make up and search for products that you actually love but never really use.

First up are the Maybelline 24 HR  Color Tattoos in the colors 35 – On and On Bronze and 40 – Permanent Taupe. For my everyday make up I love using brown and taupe colors as they make my blues eyes stand out really well. After buying my first of these Color Tattoos I loved them so much I quickly added  a few more and I probably own them in 7 different colors now but as much as I love them they have one down-side to me: They are quite heavy. Especially if you take several of them. Since I’ve been doing a bit of traveling between University in the Netherlands and my parents house every few weeks I never took them with me because they took up too much space in my make up bag, so they ended up at the very bottom of my make up drawer. Now that I took them out of their I’m going to try to incorporate them more whenever I’m at Uni.

Next up are 2 gorgeous blushers. One is by Mac in the color Well Dress and one is the L’Oréal Nuance Rouge Blush in the color 110 Pêche. The Mac one is a really pretty light pink shade, which is perfect for every day use and the L’Oréal one is a light brown color, which contains some glitter particles and gives your face a bit of a sun kissed look when applied.

One thing I’m definitely not using enough is the Bobbi Brown Party to Go Pallette. This tiny little palette is, as the name already says, perfect for a night out. It includes one mini lip gloss in the color Midnight Violet. Two lip colors in in the colors Pretty Pink and Plum and three eyeshadows in the colors Rockstar, Eggplant and Charcoal. This palette includes the perfect colors for a smokey eye and some seductive lips and it is so tiny it fits into every purse. Somehow it got out of my sight and I haven’t used it in ages. Next time I’m going out this thing will definitely come along.

It’s such a shame but I barely ever use these two gorgeous Estee Lauder lipsticks. I got both of them together in a deal at Macy’s years ago. When I first had them I was constantly using them but the more my lipstick collection grew the less attention I paid to these beauties. I recently remembered how much I used to love them as they are very pigmented and shiny. 188 Rubellite is a very pretty dark pink and 118 Boise De Rose is a rather brown lipstick with some pink undertones. Both are amazing and definitely need more attention.

Last but not least is this beautiful Mac Dazzleglass in the color Roman Holiday. It’s actually quite a shame but I totally forgot I ever owned this. Maybe it’s because I hardly ever wear lip gloss and I’m much more of a lipstick person but this gloss is too pretty to ignore. It’s more of a peachy color, that isn’t too pigmented. It only adds a bit of color to your lips but it makes them look more voluminous and adds a nice shimmer.

Are you guilty of neglecting some really good products?

The Body Shop Strawberry Body Polish

For my 19th birthday my brother got me a bunch of products from the  Body Shop inlcuding this strawberry scented body polish. It’s pretty safe to say that this is my favorite out of the products he got me. It was included in this gift set box which included a bunch of other strawberry scented products and then my brother also got this body polish outisde of the gift set because the packaging looks a bit different and let’s face it my brother is a guy so he probably didn’t read the label. But the good thing is that even though I’ve already finished my first bottle half-way I still have another full bottle now.

The body polish itself looks and smells just like strawberry jam. How cool is that? Pretty cool, I know.
Instead of body scrub, which you should only use once a week you can actually use this daily. This body polish is supposed to gently exfoliate and cleanse your skin, which is exactly what it does. I just love love love the this product. It makes your skin so incredibly soft and it smells so incredibly good. The best part is that the smell really does linger on your skin for a while, especially if you use other produtcs from strawberry range along with the body polish.
The scrubbing particles it contains aren’t harsh on the skin at all and remove all dead skin. My skin is pretty sensitive, so I’m always a little worried before trying polishes or scrubs but this product didn’t irritate my skin at all, so it’s definitely suitable for sensitive.

I can only recommend this because it cleanses your skin so well and makes it so soft. And I seriously can’t get enough of its smell!

Have a great Thursday

Banana Chocolate Chip Bread Recipe

I’ve always had a secret passion for baking. When I was little being allowed to help my grandma bake was like the biggest thing for me. We still have a bunch of pictures of mini me baking or more like me making a mess. I don’t know what it is about baking. Maybe it’s the way you can put a smile on peoples faces just by mixing together a bunch of ingredients to create a delicious baked goodie. Maybe it’s how even though most of my relatives live pretty far away baking Christmas cookies in December would always reunite everyone when I was still a kid. We’d meet up with my grandparents and my great cousins and just spent an entire day baking. Those were the best times.

Nowadays I still love to bake but unfortunately I don’t have much time and whenever I’m at Uni I don’t really have much ingredients either. Therefore I love to use the chance of being able to bake whenever I’m home. One of my favorite things to bake is Banana Chocolate Chip Bread. I love bananas and I love chocolate. Simple as that.

After trying a piece  of banana bread at some garden party I’ve googled a bunch oo recipes ad tried them out. Each time I made banana bread I’ve changed up the recipe and added some of my own ingredients. Now I’ve finally created a recipe, which I’m sticking to because I like my banana bread best this way.

Here’s what you need:

2 cups/ 250g flour
1 teaspoon backing soda
1/2 cup/ 115g butter
3/4 cup/ 110g brown sugar
2 eggs
2 bananas
2 tablespoons of yoghurt
Chocolate chunks

1. Preheat oven to 350 degreez Fahrenheit or 175 degress Celsius
2. Start of by mixingthe flour, baking soda, butter and a pinchof salt.
3. Add sugar, eggs, yoghurt and a tiny bit of milk. You don’t have to add yoghurt but I do because it makes the bread so much lighter and fluffier if you know what I mean.
4. Mash up bananas and add the choclate chip chunks.
5.This step you can skip if you like but I love to add some spices to my banana bread to well spice it uo a little. So what I do is I add a pinch of cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. I’ve been experimenting with on this part but I decided that these spices go best with th rest of the recipe. I just told you my secret ingredients so shhhh
6. Bake for about 40min.

Idgie wants a piece as well!

This is an easy and quick recipe, so if you have a thing for bananas and choclate you need to make this!
Happy Monday!
