Berries & Banana Breakfast Smoothie

One thing I love about being home is that my mom always makes sure we have a bowl full of yummy and healthy fruits in the kitchen. I’m a big lover of fruits but whenever I’m at University I don’t buy too much of it because fresh fruits are freaking expensive and I don’t want to spend crazy amounts of money on fruits that eventually go bad because I won’t have time to eat it all.

So today I woke up and I was thinking ‘ I haven’t had a smoothie for breakfast in ages’, so I decided to go make one. Though I love most breakfast foods I’m not really a big breakfast person because usually I’m on a rush in the morning and when I have to get up really early I’m not even hungry, so smoothies are a good solution for me at times.

This one is one of my favourites because it contains some of my favorite fruits and a little bit of cereal.

This is what you need:

200ml/ 6.7 oz of milk

a hand full of mixed frozen berries ( I used raspberries and blackberries)

one banana

a handful of your favorite cereal

3 tablespoons of plain yoghurt

I know these measurements aren’t all that great but I don’t have a real recipe. I just sort of throw in a bit of everything and blend it all up.

Add it all together and then blend until done. You don’t have to use frozen berries but if you do it’s really cold and refreshing.

It’s so easy and so yummy!

Happy midweek!

Growing Up & Drastic Changes

change quotes

As you might be able to guess from the title toddy’s post is going to be a non beauty or fashion related type of post. If you follow me on Twitter you might know that I’m currently on a tiny little break from Uni and back home. Being home I’m much more aware of the time and what day it actually is so when I took a good look at the calendar I was pretty shocked it’s nearly May.This means it’s been almost a year since my High School graduation. One entire year. I still can’t get myself to actually believe that. It seriously feels like I was 16 just yesterday being the typical high school student loving life and trying to avoid the future. Now I’m 19 and I’m almost done with my first year of university. UNIVERSITY! How did this happen? When did I become this old (I know I’m not actually that old but you get the point, right?)

Last year around this time I had just finished all of my exams and I pretty much went out partying with my friends like every weekend. I wasn’t like miss popular but I definitely had a lot of friends and my social calendar was always filled with lots of fun stuff. Looking back I was pretty much having the time of my life to be honest.

When I found out that I got accepted into the University I wanted to go I was pretty ecstatic but it also changed my life drastically. I had to find a place to live (which I luckily did pretty fast) and get used to a completely different life. Now most people my age have the same issues but for whatever reason I decided it was a good idea to go study in the Netherlands and I moved there.

I’m now living on my own pretty much. I do share an apartment with 3 other girls but it is basically like living on my own still. My schedule is packed with lectures and seminars. It is freaking packed! From Monday through Wednesday I basically live on campus because I have classes almost all day. Whenever I don’t have classes I have to do assignments, read or do other stuff for uni and since I no longer live at home I have to remember to do grocery shopping and do the cooking, washing and cleaning.

It’s so weird having to think about what you want to eat each day and having spending your money on the right foods. I’ve noticed a bunch of things I was never really aware before but, damn, living healthy is so freaking expensive. I never really noticed that before because my mom would always cook for us, so I’d get a warm meal each day after coming home from school.

My social life isn’t really existing anymore. Whenever I have ‘free’ time I have to do laundry, go grocery shopping or spend I my time with blogging(a funny part. yay). I barely remember the last time I went out with friends. Wow. I used to go out every weekend and now it’s a big deal when I go out like once a month. It’s not that I don’t want to go out anymore, trust me, I do but having to keep up with uni and all the tasks that are coming along when moving out of your parents home is quite exhausting, so when I do have free time I much rather spend it chilling out with a good movie or a book.

Don’t get me wrong I’m definitely not being whiny. All of these changes have brought a lot of good things with them as well. I love going to University. I feel like I’ve found the perfect study for me and I’m liking the path I’m walking on right now. I feel like I grew up a lot in the past couple of months. My parents seem to be taken me a lot more serioulys now whenever I talk about plans for my future because they see I actually know what I’m talking about and they know I will work hard to get where I want to go.

It’s just so crazy how much has changed in these past few months. I used to be a care free high school student, who was alway just off with friends partying it up and now I’m going to University, living on my own in a foreign country and I try really hard to keep my grades up. I used to be so afraid of the future back in school and having to live on my own but looking back after almost a year now I regret nothing. I feel like I’ve changed in a positive way. I’m still the fun and life loving girl I used to be just a bit more grown up. I’m much more responsible now and I feel like I finally found my path and an idea of what I want to do later in life.

I guess what I’m trying to say with this post is if you’re somewhere in between a teenager and  adult and you are at that point in life where you have to make important decisions about your future and you might have to give up some fun parts of your life and work a bit harder always go for it. It will change you most likely in a  positive way. It definitely changed me in a good way. I’ve set my priorities and a good education is definitely one of them. But this didn’t mean I have to give up my friends and having fun. I still go out with them and do have fun. I might not do it as often as I used to but when I do get to see them it makes it even more special and so much more fun.

Have you experienced much change after high school? How did you deal with it?

Mac’s Girl About Town Lipstick (Review + Swatches)

The sun’s been out quite a lot over here recently and although we still have some cold and rainy days I can feel summer coming closer each day. I can’t wait wearing my bright sundresses and brighter lipstick colors. I’m definitely a lipstick lover and over the summer my personal favorite shades are bright pink and coral ones and Mac’s Girl About Town is my favorite out of them all.

Isn’t the color just absolutely gorgeous? It a really pigmented bright pink color but what I love about it is that even though it is so bright and intense it’s not all up in your face. You know what I mean? Probably not. But there are some lipstick color that are so bright and intense they are just too bright and irritating. I hope you can sort of guess what I mean.

Anyway.. yeah the color is just perfection to me. This is my ideal version of a bright pink summer lipstick. It has a bit of a blue undertone which makes it suitable for almost every type of skin color. From pale to super tan it will look good on anyone.  Another thing I just love about this lipstick is its texture, because it is so creamy and moisturizing. It gives your lips a shiny and healthy looking finish. It lasts relatively long, so you don’t need to check every hour and re-apply. Whenever I’ve worn it I’ve only had to re-apply once a day. It does fade after a few hours but the good thing is that it fades equally, so you don’t end up with stained looking lips, cause nobody wants that, right?

All I can really say is if you love bright pink lipsticks for the summer months this is the one you need! I always get pretty excited about my favorite beauty products but I haven’t been this excited about a lipstick in a while.

Have any of you ever tried this one? What are your favorite lipsticks for summer?

Hope you have a great Monday.

Guerlain Rose Aux Joues Duo de Blush (02 Chic Pink)

Hey lovelies,

I’ve been wanting a new pink blush for a while now, so when my grandma told me she just bought one she didn’t like on her and  offered me to try hers out I was quite ecstatjc because my grandma only buys the best of tbe best. She’d gotten the Rose Aux Joues Duo blush in 02 Chic Pink, which is a rather light color so in my opinion it is more suited for people with pale skin. Actually it is pretty much made for me because I can already tell you that this is going to be a positive review. I might have found a new favorite pink blush for my every day make up.

The duo blush comes in quite the luxurious fancy looking package, which I expect because at around 50€ this blush definitely belongs to the more expensive products. The package is golden, which makes it look very expensive but what I hate about this is that you see every finger print.

The colors are absolutely gorgeous though. It contains one rather dark pink blush, which is perfect for contoruing and one light pink blush which is perfect for highlighting. But you can also just mix them together to create one beautiful pink color. The pigmentation isn’t superstrong but it is perf3ct if you want to create a natural make up look and only want a bit of light pink on your cheeks. It does stay on very long though. I used this on Easter sunday and wore it all day and it didn’t need any touch ups, so that’s definitely a plus.

The packaging itself includes a very big mirror for a blush,  which makex it perfect for applying blush on the go. It also comes with a little angle shaped brush, which make it easier to apply the blush more precisely in csse you are using it to contour.  I’m sure a lot of you have angke shaped brushes for contouring but for those who don’t this brush is actually quite good.

Do I recommend this? I think this blush is perfect for a natural every day look due to it’s medium pigmentation.  I’d also say that its more suitex for people with pale skin because the colors probably wouldn’t show up as well on dark skin. Since I’m rather pale and like to rock the natural make up look most days this blush is perfect for me. So thanks grandma for giving it to me. I’ll hold it very dear.

This is my first product from the brand Guerlain. Have you tried any?

The Body Shop Hair Chalk (Review & Hair Styles)

Lately I keep seeing more and more people dying their hair all crazy kinds of colors and sometimes it really does look so cool.  I have to admit I’ve been picturing myself with maybe pastel pink hair in my head but I know I couldn’t go through with it. I have never ever ever ever dyed my hair in my entire life. No coloring, no highlighting. Nothing. My hair color is 100% natural and has been for the past 19 years of my life.

Still I’ve loved some of the looks I’ve seen on the internet, so when I got an email from the Body Shop (I got a customer card) that they are now offering blue and pink hair chalk (my fave colors apart from green. yaay)  a while back I pretty much went there right away and bought it. Due to exams and loads and loads of uni work I haven’t had time to properly try out my hair chalk but over the last week I finally had the chance to, so here’s my review and some of the looks I created.

So this is what the hair chalk looks like. It pretty much looks like pressed powder in bright colors that comes in little round boxes. They were quite cheap and surprisingly easy to apply. But before you start coloring your hair make sure to place a towel around your neck, so the chalk doesn’t get all over your clothes. Now what you need is some kind of tissue or cotton pad. You just take a streak of your hair that you want color on and place the little hair chalk against that streak. Place the cotton pad on the other side and then just run through your hair with it. Apply it to any part of your hair that you want to apply it to and then add hairspray to set everything. Voila, you’re done. It really is that easy.

Does it last? If you set it with hairspray it does last the entire day though it starts fading eventually and once you wash your hair it’s all gone. I really like it, that it washes out so fast and easily.

Here are some looks I’ve created with it.

1. For the first look I just applied blue and pink to a few streaks of my hair and then put it all up in a bun over night. The next morning I had curly colorful hair.

IMG_3341 IMG_3342

2. If you don’t want it to be too extreme just put your hair up in a messy ponytail. I actually really love this because it brightens up a simple ponytail and I think this is such a cute style for summer.

3. Do a regular braid. How cute does this look with the mixed colors?

4. For this look I’ve just colored the lower half of my hair. Kinda like a dip- dye. Oh and this is my adorable dog Idgie btw.

5. I’ve already included this look in my Captain America OOTD. So for this look all I did was add some blue hair chalk to random streaks of my hair and then I put my hair into a fishtail braid. On the other picture you can see how my hair looked after I undid my fishtail braid. Excuse the quality it was dark already and I took it with my iPod and I’m pretty much not wearing any make up, so please only pay attention to the hair. :D

IMG_3349 IMG_3348

So these are just a few looks I’ve created with my hair chalk over the last couple of day. In general I think hair chalk is a great option if you want to color up your hair for a day in a non permanent way. I’m pretty sure I’ll be using it a lot more this summer because I think especially the pink looks really good with my blonde hair.

Have you ever tried hair chalk? What do you think of my different looks?

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Mac Mineralize Eye Shadow X4 – A Medley Of Mauves

I’m quite the fan of Mac’s eyeshadow, so when I found out about their new Mineralize Eye Shadow X4 I just kind of had to get one. They are available in 6 different variations. I went for a Medley of Mauves which is a mix of pink, purple and brown shades.

IMG_3230 IMG_3232 IMG_3233

Let’s talk about the packaging first. The eyeshadows come in a round packaging, which fits perfectly into the palm of your hand. It does come with quite the big mirror, which makes it easy to apply your make up whenever you’re on the go.

The pigmentation is very strong and they last all day without having to be reapplied. The colors are absolutely gorgeous and match together perfectly. I love how they have a variety of light and dark shades because you can create casual every day looks but you can bring in the dark colors and create a night eye make up within seconds.

With this variation you get one pretty dark brown shade, which is perfect for the crease or waterline, one dark purple shade, a mix of pink and purple and a light pink shade.

The light pink shade is perfect for the everyday look with a little bit of the brown shade in your crease. If you want to switch to a night make up look you can add the other colors.  Even though this only includes four different shades, they offer you a big variety of make up looks you can create.

It’s very easy to apply evenly and perfect to blend. Basically it’s everything I’m looking for in an eyeshadow.

The shades are all a bit shimmery, so if you are looking for a matte eyeshadow these aren’t for. Otherwise I can only recommend them.

Have a lovely day!

Spring/Summer Favorites: Mac Lipglass Pink Lemonade

IMG_3216 IMG_3218

It’s another Tuesday and time for another one of my spring & summer favourites. Yay! For today I picked my favorite spring/ summer lip gloss. In general I’m more of a lipstick person but I do own quite the amount of glosses as well. Most of them I don’t use all that much but this one gets used a lot, which you can probably tell by the fact that the writing on it is almost completely gone.

What I like about this gloss that it’s easy to apply evenly and it’s not too sticky. Some lip glosses are so sticky and I absolutely hate sticky glosses. It lasts quite long but my favorite part is the color.

For summer I love bright pink colors but I eventually get a little bored of them, which is why I like to switch them up with a few coral shades every now and then. The Mac lip glass pink lemonade is rather bright coral shade with a hint of some orange.

And here’s how it looks on the lips.

IMG_3224 IMG_3226

In my opinion Pink Lemonade is a perfect shade for summer because it’s so fun and a nice change for my usual pink shades.

What’s your favorite summer lipgloss?

YSL Flowercrush Rouge Volupte no. 32 Corail Jalouse

Hey there lovelies,

for my birthday I received quite a lot to gift cards for my favorite make up store, so when I saw the new YSL spring collection Flowercrush, one of their lipsticks was at the very top of my list. The other day my order finally came in and once again I fell in love with the YSL lipsticks.

For their new spring collection they have added 4 new shades to their Rouge Volupte Lipstick line. One very bright pink shade, one coral shade and two red shades. I decided to go with the coral shade called Corail Jalouse, because I don’t own a similar lipstick shade to it.

IMG_3187 IMG_3188

The packaging is, like always, very luxurious. The lipstick itself is very easy to apply and lasts quite long. I absolutely love the color though. It is a pink coral kind of shade and perfect for spring and summer. One other amazing aspect is that the lipstick actually smells kind of peachy.

It’s no secret, that I love the YSL lipsticks and this might become my new favorite. The color is gorgeous and perfect for spring. It lasts pretty long and it looks so stunning.

Have you tried any of the YSL products?

Have a great weekend!

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb

IMG_3128 IMG_3131 IMG_3136

Hey lovelies!

I think I might have just found my new favorite perfume in the entire world. Ever since I received a little sample of this perfume I’ve been wanting to have it but at 60,95€ for 30ml it comes at quite a high price. Hence I put it on my birthday wish list and my generous grandparents got it for me.

The flacon is quite simple and elegant and though I do love cute flacons, like pretty much all of the Marc Jacobs perfumes, I don’t mind that it is so simple because this fragrances is amazing.

Now I’m going to try to describe the smell of it to you but I totally suck at describing perfumes, so here goes my try. The name Flowerbomb is quite fitting because the smell does hit you like a bomb. It’s like an explosion of flowery and really sweet scents. On websites is describes as a  luxurious, floral perfume with Sambac Jasmine, Centifolia Rose, Cattleya Orchid, Ballerina Freesia and Patchouli notes and I totally agree with that.  Apart from the flowery scent it does smell extremely sugary and sweet though. I prefer fragrances like that but I know not everyone does.

I seriously love it and I can’t stop smelling it. Even though it is very pricey it’s definitely worth the money because you don’t need to spray on much of it and it will still last almost all day as the scent is quite intense and lingers on your skin.

This is just perfect for spring and summer as it smells so sweet and flowery. I can’t get enough of it and I would recommend it to anyone who likes sugary, floral and sweet scents as it is a perfect combination of those.

Happy Monday!

A Day In Amsterdam

With exams finally being over this weekend was my first free weekend in about a month. At first I was planning on just doing nothing and chilling out to recover from exams but then I figured that’d be kinda boring. So I was thinking of what to do and then it came to me. I’ve been living in the Netherlands since last September now but I haven’t actually seen that much of the country except for the city I’m living in, which I really adore but I just wanted to see more. Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, is about an hour and a half by train from here, so I decided to pack up a few things, go to the train station, buy a ticket and hop on the next train to Amsterdam.

I’m so glad I came up with this idea and that I went through with it. I just felt a little adventurous and I love traveling and checking out new places, so I just went for it. I usually don’t travel alone and I was a bit nervous that I’d catch the wrong train and end up God knows where but everything went fine and I had an amazing day exploring the city.

When I left it was actually quite chilly and cloudy outside but the second I arrived at Amsterdam Central Station the sun came out. So here are some pictures of this absolutely beautiful city.

IMG_3089 IMG_3091 IMG_3098 IMG_3106 IMG_3111 IMG_3116

IMG_3120 IMG_3093 IMG_3103 IMG_3104 IMG_3114

I think Amsterdam just became one of my favorite cities in Europe. It is such a beautiful place. They have the cutest little houses and there’s all these canals. Unfortunately I didn’t have enough time to do one of those canal tours but I sure am doing one next time. Amsterdam is such a lovely and charming city I can’t get over it.

I’ve been to Amsterdam before but only once when I was a bout three years old. We still have a picture of me running around in tiny little rubber boots chasing doves. This time I obviously didn’t run around chasing doves and luckily I didn’t need rubber boots because the weather was gorgeous. After walking around the harbour and looking over the canals I walked to the city centre and did a little bit of shopping. They have the coolest stores there. Thank God the University of Amsterdam doesn’t offer my study program because if I was living there I’d probably totally broke and instead of studying I’d be sitting near the water just watching the ships go by.

Okay, I think I’ve fallen a bit in love with Amsterdam and before I continue to bore you with my ramblings I’m just going to stop now. But yeah you’ve probably noticed by now that I’ve had an amazing day and I can’t wait to go back again.

Any of you ever been to Amsterdam?

Happy Sunday!
