Hey there people! I have some exciting news! So my University is offering this study trip to CHICAGO and I get to participate. This is basically the coolest thing ever! I would’ve wanted to go basically anywhere on a study trip but Chicago is literally my dream come true! I’ve been in love with this city ever since I was eleven. I have no idea why but one day I watched this documentary on Chicago and ever since then I’ve been so fascinated with this city. When I was twelve I started reading tons of books about Chicago and it was all I talked about all day. Soon I even started annoying everyone with my newly acquired knowledge.

‘Hey, mom! Did you know that the first skyscraper ever was built in Chicago? It only had like 10 floors.’

‘Yes, sweetie. You’ve only mentioned that about 9 times by now.’

I know this study trip won’t be all fun because I will have to take extra classes, on top of my usual classes, to learn all about Chicago’s history, architecture and politics but I’m honestly really looking forward to that.

I know this year’s just started but it’s been so good to me already. I got to celebrate into the new year in London, I passed some really important exams and now I’m going to go to Chicago in may. I feel so incredibly lucky to be offered such amazing opportunities and I still can’t quite believe it. I’ve been wanting to go to Chicago for seven years now and it’s about to happen. I must be one of the happiest people on earth right now.

Anyway.. I just wanted to share this with you guys and I hope that your 2014 will be full of great opportunities and dreams come true.

  1. I went to Chicago last June on a holiday. It is really nice! Downtown Chicago has amazing architecture. You should go on a boat ride which takes you onto Lake Michigan if possible. That way you get to see all the iconic buildings. You should even go to Willis towers. The view is amazing! Plus, the bean is a cool place to take pictures. Its a great city, you’ll definitely enjoy yourself there!

    1. That’s so cool! I really can’t wait to go there.
That sounds really amazing and I hope I get to do a boat ride but I don’t know because it’s a study trip offered by my University, so they’re planning everything and I know it will be a busy schedule, so hopefully they’ll include some good things.

      1. Well, just enjoy yourself when you are there. Even if you don’t get to go to all those places, just walking through the streets is great fun. Its a city with some of the most amazing architecture I’ve seen, and you can see it everywhere. So have fun! :)

      2. Thank you! I’m sure I will.
I know they want to focus on the architecture and the history of Chicago, so I’m pretty sure I’ll get to do some fun things. :)

      3. I think so, too. I’m in my first year but I’ve heard from older students who’ve been on a study trip before that you always get to see a lot, so I think it will be quite the experience.

      4. Thats good, your seniors are probably right. It’ll probably be super rushed and all, but you should get to see loads since the focus is on architecture and all.

      5. That’s more then enough! I practically covered the most of downtown Chicago in like a day haha. I wasn’t staying in that area. I was at my cousins in the suburbs around an hours train ride from there.

      6. That’s good to know:) We’re probably going to stay somewhere in the middle of Chicago but they haven’t figured out all the details. I guess we’ll be able to get a lot done then.

      7. Yeah thats true. Well, enjoy yourself there, Im sure it’ll be great! By the way, you should try eating at a place called “Chipotle” while you are there. Their Mexican food is just amazing.
