Super Stay Better Skin Foundation by Maybelline Review

As mentioned in one of my blog posts last week, I’ve bought the Super Stay Better Skin foundation due to its advertisement and because I’ve been looking for a new cheaper foundation. My skin is really light, which sometimes makes it pretty difficult to find a good drugstore foundation for me. Most of them just make my skin look orange and I definitely don’t want that. When I saw the commercials for this foundation I decided to just give it a go and try it because I’ve been loving a lot of Mayblline’s products lately.

Now for me, personally, a good foundation needs to fulfil 3 criteria:

1. Create an even teint.

2. Cover up any imperfections.

3. Last all day.

The Super Stay Better Skin foundation promises that it does not only provide your skin with a good coverage, that will make your skin look healthy and flawless while lasting up to 13 hours. No, it also claims that it will perfect your skin within three weeks of usage.  I’m not too sure whether it will actually improve your skin although it does contain a few skin care ingredients such as Copper, Magnesium, Vitamin B and Zinc.

I’ve been trying it out for about a week now and I can say that I definitely like it. The texture is not too runny, which makes it easy to apply the foundation evenly on my skin. Due to a hydration formula it also makes my skin feel really refreshed and soft. Almost as if I’d just applied moisturiser. It covers up my skin really well although I have to say, that I already have pretty clear skin so I don’t know how the coverage is for someone with a lot of imperfections. I also love that it feels so light on my skin. Some foundations feel so heavy and make my skin itchy and red because I have rather sensitive skin but this foundation does not do that at all. I wouldn’t say that it lasts 13 hours but definitely around 10, which is enough for me because I usually don’t wear make up for more than 13 hours straight anyway.

I would definitely recommend this product if you’re looking for a cheap alternative for your everyday foundation. For me it does the job because it fulfils all of my criterias. It covers up my imperfections, creates an even look on my skin and it lasts really long. Apart from that it feels very good on my skin. I don’t know how this product works if you have really oily or really dry skin. Everyone’s skin is different but for me it totally does the job.

So again if you have normal skin that is not too oily or too dry and you’re looking for a rather cheap foundation for everyday usage this is the one.

Have a lovely day! X

How to: Easy Chinese Fried Noodles Recipe

Fried Asian Noodles are very popular right now. Especially among young people, because most of them either attend college or just started working and don’t have much time or just don’t feel like cooking when they do. You can buy this Asian dish almost everywhere or you get the instant food version. But have you ever tried making them yourself? It’s really easy and the best thing is that you can decide what to add to them. Maybe you prefer chicken or broccoli or you’d rather go for a vegetarian version with eggs and carrots? If you make them yourself it’s all up to you. I’m a college student myself with little time and the last thing I feel like doing after a long day of classes is cooking but then again I don’t want to just live off of microwave food. So what I do is I cook on a day, where I have more time and I just make more so that I have enough food for 2 days. This way I only have to cook every 2nd day and I actually eat real vegetables and stuff that’s somewhat healthy.

So here’s how to make yummy Asian noodles in just a few easy steps:

photo 1This is all you need for my favorite version. Some noodles, carrots, green onions, eggs and some sprouts. Of course you can switch up the ingredients and use whatever vegetables you prefer or substitute the eggs with chicken.

1.  Boil water and cook noodles for about 3-4 minutes.

photo 3

2. While waiting for the noodles wash and cut up the veggies.

photo 2

3. When noodles are done start frying them in a pan with just a little bit of oil.

photo 10

4. If you want to add a little bit of flavour and you like the sweet Asian taste add some honey.

photo 7

5. Now pour 4 eggs into a bowl and add milk. Mix thoroughly until it looks like this.

photo 4 photo 5

6.  Now add eggs and veggies to the noodles.

Let it all fry for a few minutes and voilà you’re done!

It takes about 20 minutes and it’s so easy and so good. Perfect for any college student.

Good luck trying!

Hey there people! I have some exciting news! So my University is offering this study trip to CHICAGO and I get to participate. This is basically the coolest thing ever! I would’ve wanted to go basically anywhere on a study trip but Chicago is literally my dream come true! I’ve been in love with this city ever since I was eleven. I have no idea why but one day I watched this documentary on Chicago and ever since then I’ve been so fascinated with this city. When I was twelve I started reading tons of books about Chicago and it was all I talked about all day. Soon I even started annoying everyone with my newly acquired knowledge.

‘Hey, mom! Did you know that the first skyscraper ever was built in Chicago? It only had like 10 floors.’

‘Yes, sweetie. You’ve only mentioned that about 9 times by now.’

I know this study trip won’t be all fun because I will have to take extra classes, on top of my usual classes, to learn all about Chicago’s history, architecture and politics but I’m honestly really looking forward to that.

I know this year’s just started but it’s been so good to me already. I got to celebrate into the new year in London, I passed some really important exams and now I’m going to go to Chicago in may. I feel so incredibly lucky to be offered such amazing opportunities and I still can’t quite believe it. I’ve been wanting to go to Chicago for seven years now and it’s about to happen. I must be one of the happiest people on earth right now.

Anyway.. I just wanted to share this with you guys and I hope that your 2014 will be full of great opportunities and dreams come true.

The Liebster Award

I got nominated for the Liebster award by The Beauty Bunny. Thank you so much! I really enjoy reading your blog.

I just started blogging about a month ago, so this is a really nice surprise. It’s so cool to know that some people actually read what I write and even enjoy it. Before I bore you all with my ramblings tough I’m going to answer the questions now.

  1. Which country are you from and what do you love most about that country? I was originally born in Germany, but I’ve lived in the States for a while and I’m currently living in the Netherlands. What do I love most about Germany? That’s a tough question and I honestly don’t know. It is a pretty cool country but I want to live in an English-speaking country later. Preferably the US or the UK. This might sound weird but I feel more comfortable speaking English and even though I was born here I don’t feel German at all most of the time. Maybe because my family moved around a lot. Most of the people I know have lived in the same place all of their lives, so they speak certain dialects, which I sometimes don’t even understand. Since I’ve already lived in 9 different cities in 3 different countries in my short life of 18 years, I don’t really have a hometown or a region where I come from. I guess what I love most about my country is my family and friends. And my dog of course.

2.   Which beauty product can you not live without? This is a tough one but I’d probably go with my MAC mineralize powder, because it creates flawless skin and I’ve been using it for years now.

3. Which fashion item can you not live without? HIGH HEELS! Compared to most of my friends I’m rather short, so I’m wearing some sort of heel almost every day. Apart from that, believe it or not, I walk better in heels than in flats.

4.  Which store would you most likely max out your credit card at? There are so many great stores. I really have a lot of favorites but one of my favorite designers is Michael Kors. I’m obsessed with his purses, so I’d probably buy them all if I had the chance to.

5. Who is your style icon? I don’t really have a fashion icon. I just walk into a store and buy whatever I like. I don’t really care if others like it and I don’t go with every trend. Only if I’m really into them. I know yellow will be the new black this spring but I also know I won’t be buying even a single yellow item. I hate the color and it just doesn’t suit me. But yeah I don’t really have a fashion icon. I don’t even read any fashion magazines to be honest.

6. Which spring/summer/winter/autumn trend did you love the most in 2013? I really liked the faux fur coats and vests this winter. I’d never want a real fur anything because I love animals but I really like the look of it.

7. What is your morning routine? I have a really hard time getting out of bed in the morning, so most of the time I get up way too late, throw on my clothes, put on some make up and rush to class.

8. Why did you start blogging? I’ve always enjoyed reading other people’s blogs and I’ve always been into fashion and make-up. A lot of my friends love borrowing my clothes, I’ve been asked to do their make-up so many times and my professors at University encouraged us to start a creative project like writing, so I’ve decided to start a blog for my project. Apart from that I just like having a little space, where I can speak out my thoughts on certain topics with a chance, that some people might even read it and I think I just want to inspire people to be who they are and not change for anyone.

9. Which blog posts do you most enjoy reading? Obviously I like reading about fashion and make-up but I also like poetry and basically any blog post that has a good message to it or something important to say.

10. Which celebrity would you date without even thinking twice? Probably Zac Efron. He is perfection to me. That brown hair and those gorgeous blue eyes…

So these are my answers. Hope I didn’t bore anyone.

Now I nominate Glitter Bananas and Leah’s Fashion Blog because I really enjoy reading their posts.

The rules for The Liebster Award:

1. Thank the person who nominated you and link to their blog (please!).

2. Dig in and answer the 10 questions given to you by the nominee before you.

3. You must nominate 10 (or as many as you like) of your favorite blogs with fewer than 200 followers (on their blogging platform/site) and notify them of their nomination.

4. You must come up with 10 (preferably entertaining!) questions for your nominees to answer.

And my 10 questions are:

1. Why did you start blogging?

2.  If you had 3 wishes what would you wish for?

3. Which country would you most like to travel to?

4. What are your three favorite beauty products?

5. Do you prefer heels or flats and why?

6. Which beauty product do you always carry with you?

7. Lipstick or lip gloss?

8. Do you have a role-model and if so who?

9. If you could buy any product from any brand what would you buy?

10. What is your dream job?

Wow, this is a really long post but I hope y’all enjoyed it anyway.

Another Random Beauty Haul

IMG_2312 2

Hey there my fellow make-up lovers. Anyone seen the commercial for Maybelline’s new Super Stay Better Skin foundation? I have like a million times, so today I finally bought it. Of course once I was in the store I couldn’t just buy one thing and spend a little more than intended.

This is it. Maybelline new Super Stay Better Skin foundation. Supposedly it gives you a flawless teint, that lasts all day. I know a lot of foundations promise this but what’s different about this one is, that apparently it also improves your skin within 3 weeks. That got me curious, so I’m gonna give it a try in the next few days and let you guys know what I think.

Today I also found out that Maybelline has a new nude lipstick collection and since I love the nude look for my everyday make up I couldn’t help myself. I just had to get one. This is nr. 725 Tantalizing Taupe. I like this color because it’s not too light and not too dark. It’s got a rich texture and also adds a little shimmer to your lips. I think it’s one of my new fave lipsticks.

I’m also a fan of the Maybelline Eyestudio eyeshadow palettes. The colors go together so perfectly and I really needed a new one for my everyday make up, so I decided to go with this one, because I love these earthly tones. It’s the nr. 2 Vivids Plum. I also love the size of these because they fit into every purse, so you can always carry them with you in case you need a touch up.

The Big Eyes mascara and the Master Precise liquid eyeliner are re-purchases. I’ve bought them a while ago and I really liked them.Especially the eyeliner. I’m pretty sure this is my third already. It basically looks like a felt-tip and using it is as easy as drawing a line with a felt-tip. So it’s definitely a recommendation for all the girls that have problems with drawing the perfect line. I usually don’t run into trouble with drawing a line with my eyeliner because of years of practice but this one is great when I’m in a hurry and really have to rush.

Last but not least I also purchased this adorable little mini hairspray. I have to admit I use A LOT of hairspray. It’s probably one of my most used beauty products, so now I can always carry one with me because it’s so tiny. I’m in love it.

That was it for today. Have a lovely day folks!:)

My Favorite Mascara: Lancôme Dolls Eyes Mascara Review

It’s pretty much safe to say that every girls dreams of having incredibly long dark lashes just like a doll. Most of us spent years trying to find the perfect mascara that lengthens our lashes, gives them volume and definition without being sticky or making your lashes break. After trying out all different kinds of mascara from different brands I have finally found my personal favorite: The Lancôme Dolls Eyes Mascara.

Photo on 16-01-14 at 01.23 pm

Fortunately I was blessed with pretty long lashes already but since I’m a blonde they are really light so I apply mascara to darken them. This mascara however gives my lashes perfect definition and adds even more length. It separates them perfectly and I only need to apply one or two coats to get my  perfect result.

Photo on 16-01-14 at 01.25 pm #3

Notice the difference between the left eye, on which I applied my mascara and right eye? I definitely do!

This mascara really does keep its promised of giving you doll like lashes. If you like the doll look and want your eyes to appear eve brighter try using a gel eyeliner with it.

Photo on 16-01-14 at 02.00 pm #2

My eyes appear a lot bigger, don’t they?

I can only recommend this great mascara. If you want to go for a natural look just use the mascara by itself and if you want your eyes to really stand out apply some eyeliner. The Dolls Eyes Mascara by Lancôme is definitely worth its price because unlike so many other products it really lives up to its advertisements. It’s one of my make-up essentials and I’ve been using it a lot. I know I will definitely buy it again and you should too if you want your dreams of doll like lashes to come true.

Random Beauty Haul

Sadly tomorrow is my last day of Christmas break, which means it’s back to Holland. Unfortunately for my this doesn’t just mean back to college and classes. No it actually mean lots and lots and lots of stress because some idiot at my University decided to schedule exam week right after Christmas break. For me that means that I’ll be taking 7 finals until the 15th of january. And if that wasn’t enough I also have 3 papers due. Awesome, right?

Since I’ll be leaving tomorrow my mom and I went to do some grocery shopping. Of course I had to stop in the beauty section and of course I had to buy something.

This is what I got. 2 baby lips lip balms by Maybelline and a new hairbrush.

I’ve heard a lot about the baby lips lip balms by Maybelling. Many of my friends love them so I decided to give them a try. I went for the colors Peach Kiss and Cherry Me.

IMG_2267 IMG_2269

I think they have a cute look to them and I definitely know why my friends love them so much. They give you exactly what they advertise for: a lip balm with a hint of color. I know that I’m gonna take these everywhere I go from now on. Especially the Peach Kiss one.

I also wanted to get a little brush for my purse that I could easily take with me so I stumbled across this awesome hairbrush. It’s called Tangle Teezer. With its cool design it fits perfectly into the balm of your hand. It’s small. It’s practical. It untangles your hair without causing you pain. It’s perfection.

I’m totally happy with the products I bought today and I can just recommend them to you guys. Enjoy the rest of your Saturday!

Michael Kors Lip Lacquer

Despite me having caught a pretty bad cold and the fact that I’m two days away from my exam week, which means having to take 7 finals I’m probably one of the happiest girls on this earth right now. You want to know why? Look what the delivery man brought to my house last night!

It has finally arrived! I’ve been wanting to have this lipstick for so long now but it’s been sold out for weeks around here! Now I finally own it!

Okay please don’t think I’m just another one of these white girls that post their Starbucks coffee and Michael Kors watches on instagram – because I’m not. (I don’t even have an instagram) I do admit I’m a huge fan of Michael Kors’ products but not because their trendy right now. Honestly, I wouldn’t even buy one of his watches because I feel like they look like every other designer watch.

I absolutely adore his purses though. Why? Because in my opinion they’re elegant and classy and. They are simply timeless to me.

When he announced that he would be publishing a beauty line I was definitely curious for that and when I received a free sample of one of his perfumes (the sexy Amber one) I knew I had to have it.

This is why I really wanted to get this lipstick. If you take it out of its wrapper it looks so elegant with the gold.

I decided to go with the one called Diva because it has a nice nude tone.

IMG_2264 IMG_2262

Now can I recommend it? That really depends on what you’re looking for in the product. If you’re like me and you usually like to rock a rather nude look during the day it’s perfect. It makes your lips look more voluminous and it adds a little shimmer. If you’re looking for a lipstick with lots of color it’s definitely not the one though because this lipstick is very glossy. It’s more of a mix between a lip balm and a gloss. It does feel really good on your lips though and for me it’s just the right product and exactly what I expected.

Besides it looks great next to my perfume.

So beautiful
So beautiful

Alright. I’m done obsessing now. Sorry.

Lost and Found: My Very First Pair of Heels

It is not unknown that most girls have an estimated amount of millions of shoes. Females are just known for being obsessed with shoes. I wouldn’t particularly call myself a shoe fanatic and compared to many females I probably don’t have many shoes but the ones I do have I take much care of. Especially since I don’t just buy any shoes. My feet are very sensible so I tend to save some money and invest that in more expensive shoes that are of good quality.

With about 5 ft 4 1/2 I’m really not that tall. Almost all of my friends are at least a few inches taller than me and now that I go to college in the Netherlands I feel shorter than ever. People there are freaking tall! That’s exactly the reason why I tend to wear heels so I don’t look like a dwarf next to everyone else.

Just like probably every girl I still remember buying my very first high heels though they weren’t really that high. I’m originally from Europe but I’ve lived in Louisiana, USA, for a while when I was a 15-year-old. There I attended a private High School and just like every typical High School we had school dances of course. So when I was 15 I went to my first High School dance; the Homecoming Dance. I was wearing this gorgeous  dress and I got the cutest shoes to go along with it. I was in love with them. Although I was only 15 I felt like such a woman. After all I was buying my very first heels. Guys probably won’t understand this but for most girls wearing heels for the first time is like being one step closer to growing up and becoming a woman.

I have always kept my first high heels but suddenly I couldn’t find them anymore and that made me really sad. They were my first and I wore them to Homecoming so they bring back a lot of good memories.

After 2 months I finally found them in some old box in the very back of our basement. You cannot imagine how relieved I was. Now they are in a very special place in my closet next to my most precious heels. This way I hopefully won’t lose them again.  Anyway.. this just inspired me to dedicate a post to my very first high heels.

My little babies
My little babies

Am I the only one that’s this sentimental or do you girls still remember your first pair of heels and what occasion you bought them for?

Much love :)

Just Some Little Things

Yesterday I have told you guys all about my stay in London and today I’m going to show you some of the things I bought during my stay. Lucky for me there were many sales in almost every store I went in. Still I didn’t buy that much because I’m trying to save more money rather than spending it all. It’s my New Years Resolution and I’m really curious how long it will last.

it was raining and very story so the umbrella I brought unfortunately got killed by the British weather, so I had to get a new one. Besides it rains quite a lot in the Netherlands as well and since I’ll be returning to Holland on Sunday to take my final exams of this semester before my 2nd semester starts a new umbrella will come in quite handy.

Isn't it adorable?
Isn’t it adorable?

Since it was cold and windy my ears were freezing and I sure didn’t want to catch a cold. Usually I’m not much of a hat person but I fell in love with this one and it was on sale. That’s always a good argument.

Just like every other tourist I had to get some souvenirs from a gift shop so I bought some key chains that I can now put next to my Eiffel Tower and the Empire State Building.

As I might have mentioned before I am just a little bit vain when it comes to my hair and I love love love wearing bows or cute headbands. What’s very unfortunate though is that not many people seem to wear that around where I’m currently living ( I don’t really care about that) but that makes it pretty hard to find cute hair accessories that aren’t meant for little girls. In London there were so many stores with adorable hair accessories so I just had to get some.

IMG_2257 IMG_2254

That’s it already. I just wanted to get a few things that would remind me of the great time I had in London and I believe I found some good stuff.

Have an amazing day everyone :)
